Welcome New Employees
Rachel Danzinger is a new
Assistant Inventory Specialist
in Monroe. She and her husband, Shawn, live in Monroe.
Rachel is originally from Mt.
Carroll, IL
Mary Gerbode transferred to
regular status as the Switchboard Receptionist at the Main
building. Mary recently moved
back to her home town of Lena,
IL.
Kimberly Rowe is a new Inventory Manager in Monroe.
She and her husband, Nick,
have two children: Brittany
and Brandon. They live in
Freeport, IL.
Julie Ziperski is a new Sr.
Technical Designer in Monroe.
She and her husband, John,
have three children: Noah,
Annika, and Ryder. They currently live in New Glarus, WI.
Last Call for 2013 Internships!
Tell us about an internship
project you felt you learned
a great deal from.
Sara: The internship project
I learned the most from was
being solely responsible for
hiring all the forklift operators for the 2012 holiday season. It was a great responsibility as it is a key position in
making the entire warehouse
operation run. Being able to
manage a large number of
employees, schedule drug
screens within a certain time
frame, and give updates to
my supervisor in a timely
manner allowed me to grow
as an individual and work
more independently.
Colony Brands has a long history
of hiring interns. Many familiar faces
here (John Baumann and Joe Hunter,
to name just a couple) started with
the company as interns. The tradition
continues with Sara Weckerly, who
first came to the company as a member of the Career Exploration group,
then worked as an intern in Human
Resources, and is now a full-time employee in Merchandising.
Sara appreciates the opportunities
she’s had here and was willing to share
some thoughts with potential interns.
College students in their junior or
senior year are encouraged to apply
by February 28 for the following paid
internships. We are looking for
students working toward degrees in
Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Marketing, Chemistry, Microbiology, Computer Science, MIS, IT, Fashion/Apparel Design, Statistics, Finance,
Accounting, Human Resources, Business Management, Occupational Safety,
Operations/Production Management,
Food Science, or Packaging. In addition,
we are seeking students pursuing an
MBA for our Marketing and Merchandising MBA internships. To apply, please

If you could give advice to next year’s
interns, what would you tell them?
Sara: Be prepared to work really hard and
be pulled in several different directions with
multiple deadlines and projects looming over
your head. Expect to hear some things you
could never imagine, and experience the diversity of individuals from all walks of life.
What’s it like working at our company?
Sara: It has been a wonderful experience
working with a great group of individuals,
and a company that really focuses on their
employees. I was given the chance to utilize
my skills, abilities, and knowledge to do the
best I could, and appreciate the feedback and
recognition received for a job well done.
What did you like most
about your experience as
an intern here?
Sara: I liked the direct
experience I received,
utilizing the entire hiring
process from start to finish. I enjoyed being able to
transfer what I learned in
college courses to real-life
situations. I also enjoyed
the people I worked with
because they made it a fun
and inviting place to come
to everyday.
