For more on Michael - Solvang Festival Theater
Now in his fifth decade as a full-time artist and performer of all original
music, Michael On Fire continues to forge new creative ground, playing
in different instrumental formats, exploring different styles, with new
songs, traveling to new places, and connecting with an ever-expanding
audience of longtime fans, and others who’ve been newly introduced to his
brilliance as songwriter, musician, performer and entertainer. In MOF, all
these characters and characteristics get rolled into one distinctive package
of artistry, emotion, expression and communication.
“... one of the most powerful and personal performances I’ve ever seen.
Michael On Fire lights a room and connects with something deep in the
psyche in a way that makes you feel you have known the songs and ranged
over the emotion of them for your whole life. His tunes are as though they
were preordained in memory. Almost his entire playlist clicked open a
receptor that made it immediately recognizable, though I’d never heard his
music before. Over the decades I’ve seen big acts, major stars, impressive
tours, but there is something about Michael on Fire that connects like no
other. He is singularly peerless.”
- Tom Cochrun, Light Breezes [Cambria, CA.]
Michael has released five albums in the past six years, each
to critical acclaim.
Michael On Fire has a sound and style that epitomizes all that
is so good about the Americana genre … honest, rootsy music
by a veteran artist who makes music on his own terms regardless of current fads and fancies – we celebrate artists like that,
especially when the music is of such uniformly high quality.”
- Alan Cackett, Maverick Magazine (UK)
“Out of the darkness and void of a decimated music industry
comes a singer/songwriter that lights the fires of peace, love and
empathy for a world that is desperate for positive energy. Michael On Fire rekindles the passion and light in an art-form that
holds the heart, soul, and voice of the people.” – Stewart Brennan, World United Music
In commenting on his return to the Jazz & Beyond Concert
Series at the Festival Theater, MOF says, “Each time I come
to Solvang, it is with the intention of giving all of my love and
enthusiasm, and warmth and dignity, and each time, that’s
exactly what I get from this community. I’m humbled and
grateful to play in such a magnificent venue to such a wonderful audience.”

“Michael on Fire is so good you’ll be stuck trying to invent new adjectives to describe it all. He’ll make you laugh,
cry, see God and tap your feet … all at once.” – Bill Locey, Ventura County Star
“I cannot say enough about Michael On Fire. Not only does he touch your heart with his lyrics, but he touches
your soul. He’ll treat you as if you were a lifelong friend, and when the night is over, you’ll believe you are one.”
- Georgeann Jouflas, Club owner [Grand Junction, CO]
“Michael won me over from the moment he opened his mouth. He’s one of the most brilliantly charismatic guys
I’ve ever come across; his stories between songs are side-splittingly hilarious and he creates an arena-like atmosphere from his brilliant connection with the audience. i got lost in his words, mentally transported, and his
voice perfectly melted together with the tone of the song.” – Tim Milligan, Palmers Green (U.K)
“Michael on Fire projects a combination of musical strength, unbridled energy, and pure joy that continually
elevates those around him.”
- Dave Zimmer, BAM Magazine, author Crosby Stills & Nash: The Authorized Biography, (St. Martin’s Press)
“Michael on Fire is one of our leading troubadours. He has the elusive, inspirational quality of a cult hero.”
- Bobbi O’, The Rock City News (Hollywood, CA)
“The music is unmistakably passionate, wedding Michael’s penchant for dust ‘n’ bones guitar arrangements with
his classically-trained musical sensibilities. The result is a sound that is primal, raw and powerful. When I caught
his live show last Sunday, his words seemed like gospel. He is an electrifying performer.”
– Glenn McDonald, The (East Lansing) State News
“... emotive, soaring display of potent songwriting and soulful vocals.”
- Glen Starkey, New Times [San Luis Obispo, CA]
“As the music industry dictates who and what is valid, the lifers, like Michael On Fire, keep fi nding new ways
and new stages by which to express themselves.”
- Stephen Brundage, The Herald-Palladium [St. Joseph, MI]
“Michael on Fire is neither old nor young, but both – with the wisdom of age and the exuberance of youth.” –
Christopher Batio, The Freeport Journal Standard
