For placement of level, there was a concern for those dancers who’ve competed in past and placed but has not done so in a certain period of time. We came up with the additional guideline in placement of your dancers:
™ If a dancer hasn't competed within the past 5 years, but has continued practicing with their pupu ori, they may be placed in the Intermediate division
™ If a dancer hasn't competed within the past 5 years AND has discontinued practicing , they may be placed in the Beginner division
™ If a dancer hasn't competed less than 5 years (whether or not they had continued practicing), they will remain in the Advanced division
The above of course is at the discretion of the kumu or director ‐ remaining true to the capability of their dancer.
