The Federal University of Technology of Paraná (UTFPR)
originated from the Elementary School of Apprentices and
Craftsmen (Escola de Aprendizes Artífices). Established
in 1909, it has had a wide and expressive trajectory on
professional education, constructing a different history from
traditional or classical universities.
Currently experimenting a high degree of development,
the university is also committed to providing knowledge
in order to support the needs of a modern world. Thus,
the UTFPR operates professional high school educational
courses on several areas as well as undergraduate education
(Technology, Engineering, Bachelor and Teaching Degree)
and postgraduate education.
The UTFPR also performs social and extension activities
by interacting with the productive sector and the community,
through applied research, cultural and sport projects, among
others.
The indexes and numbers, campi and course information,
which can be seen in the following pages, demonstrate and
reflect the construction of one hundred years of a reliable
institution, committed to the excellence on teaching and
knowledge improvement.

Apucarana
Apucarana, located in the middle of Paraná, 369
km far from the capital, Curitiba, was colonized by
the British Land Company Northern Paraná.
With a population of approximately 121.290
inhabitants (IBGE/2009), it is the eleventh most
populous city of Paraná. The city is also known as the
“Capital of the Cap.” With a production of about 2
million caps a month, the city is responsible for 80%
of the national production and the generation of about
six thousand direct jobs and 4000 indirect jobs.
Apucarana’s main sights are:
• Rui Barbosa Square
• Traditional celebration of the cherry – perpetuation of
the Japanese culture.
Campus Apucarana
Campus Apucarana has been authorized by the
Ministry of Education (MEC) in 2006 and classes
started in Febuary 2007 with a Technical course on
Clothing.
It occupies an area of approximately 71.000 square
meters, with 3.500 square meters of built area and
has about 187 students, 28 teachers and 32 technical
and administrative employees.

Campo Mourão
The city of Campo Mourão is predominantly agricultural,
with the planting of soybeans and corn. It is home to the
largest cooperative in Brazil and the third largest in the
world - Coamo. Its population was 90.460 inhabitants
in 2009.
Campo Mourão’s main sights are:

Campus Campo Mourão
Campus Campo Mourão opened its doors on April
10th, 1995, as a Decentralisation and Teaching Unit
(UNED) of CEFET-PR, functioning in the Gymnasium
Berlin Carolo.
Situated in an area of 63.888 square meters, it has
approximately 11 000 square meters of built area.
Today, this campus has 100 teachers, 56 technicians
and administrative employees and 1.100 students.

Cornélio Procópio
Cornélio Procópio, located in northern Paraná, has
its economy based on agriculture and silk industry. Its
population was 46.868 inhabitants in 2000.
Cornélio Procópio’s main sights are:

Campus Cornélio Procópio
The UTFPR - Campus Cornélio Procópio - was created
in 1993, as a Decentraliwsation and Teaching Unit (UNED)
of CEFET-PR.
It occupies an area of approximately 55.000 square meters
of built area, with approximately 27.000 square meters,
including teaching and administrative environments.
Today, this campus has about 1.600 students, 110 teachers
and 63 technical and administrative employees.

Curitiba
Curitiba is the capital of Paraná. Its official foundation
date is March 29th, 1693. The cycle of yerba mate and
timber growing were quite remarkable events, as well
as the mass influx of European immigrants and the
construction of the Railroad Paranaguá - Curitiba, linking
it to the coast.
The city has faced rapid urbanization, particularly
in the 1970s, mostly caused by migrations from the
countryside, as a result of the substitution of manpower
for agricultural machinery. Curitiba is now facing the
challenge of a big metropolis and has approximately
1.828.092 inhabitants.
Curitiba’s main sigths are:

Campus Curitiba
Campus Curitiba was implemented on September
23rd, 1909, as a school for craftsmen with the teaching
of crafts in the areas of tailoring, shoemaking,
carpentry and metalwork. Initially named CEFETPR, it became the Federal University of Technology of
Paraná (UTFPR) in 2005.
This campus occupies approximately 25.000 square
meters, with 48.000 square meters of built area.
In the city of Curitiba, the UTFPR also has the
Ecoville campus, which is located in an area of 58.000
square meters, where the technological park is going to
be placed.
Today, Curitiba campus has about 680 teachers, 279
technical, administrative workers and 7.025 students.

Dois Vizinhos
Dois Vizinhos, located in south-western Paraná, was
created on July 25th, 1960. Today it has approximately
35.707 inhabitants.
Dois Vizinhos economically stands in the sectors of
agriculture, poultry farming, pig farming, industry and
commerce. Currently, it has one of the largest agroindustrial food complexes in Latin America, receiving
the title of “the National Chicken´s Capital”.
Dois Vizinhos’s main sights are :

Campus Dois Vizinhos
Campus Dois Vizinhos opened its doors on March
14th, 1997, with the Agricultural Technical Course, as a
Decentralisation and Teaching Unit (UNED) of CEFETPR, linked to the Agrotechnical Federal School from Rio
do Sul, Santa Catarina.
Campus Dois Vizinhos UTFPR was installed in
2006, occupying an area of approximately 192 ha, with
about 13.000 square meters, including administrative and
teaching environments.
Today, this Campus has about 39 teachers, 32 technicians
and administrative employees and 345 students.

Francisco Beltrão
Francisco Beltrão is called “the Heart of the
Southwest” for its strategic position (near the border
with Argentina). It leads the economy and politics
from its region and has 76.311 inhabitants.
Francisco Beltrão’s main sights are:

• Jayme Canet’s Exposition Park
Campus Francisco Beltrão
Campus Francisco Beltrão, the ancient Center of
Excellence in Professional Education (TEXCEL), was
inaugurated on November 30th, 2006.
This campus began operations in January 2008, placed
in an area of 23.18 ha, with approximately 3.9000 square
meters of built area.
Today, it has about 34 teachers, 30 technicians and
administrative employees and 300 students.

Londrina
Londrina is located in northern Paraná, 369 km far
from the capital of Paraná, Curitiba, with an estimated
population of 510.707 inhabitants. Colonized by the
British people, Londrina has developed thanks to
coffee culture and it is known as the “Coffee world
capital”. Londrina is a benchmark in the areas of
telecommunication and technology, with emphasis on
care services in mobile and solutions in IT (Information
Technology), in medical and dental care, agribusiness
and agricultural activity.
Londrina’s main sights are:
• Arthur Thomas’s Forest Park
• Igapó Lake
Campus Londrina
Londrina Campus was created on December 18th,
2006 by the Ministry of Education, and opened its doors
in February 2007 with the Undergraduate Course in
Food Technology.
This campus occupies an area of approximately
72.000 square meters, with about 6.000 square meters
of built area, including administrative and educational
environments.
Today, it has about 40 teachers, 43 technicians and
administrative employees and 400 students.

Medianeira
Medianeira was founded on October 24th, 1952. Today
it has an estimated population of 39.857 inhabitants. The
agro-industrial sector is the foundation of the municipal
economy.
Medianeira’s main sights are:

Campus Medianeira
The Decentralisation and Teaching Unit (UNED) of
CEFET-PR Medianeira, today Campus Medianeira, was
created on February 6th, 1987. In March 1990, it received
the first groups of the Technical courses in Food and
Electromechanics, being officially opened on May 30th,
1991.
It occupies an area of 74.000 square meters, with
approximately 26.000 square meters of built area.
Today, this campus has about 119 teachers, 82
technicians and administrative employees and 1.600
students.

Pato Branco
Pato Branco is located in south-western Paraná.
With a population exceeding 74.000 inhabitants, the city
stands as a service center with emphasis on the sectors
of health and education. It has tried to vary its economy
with Computing and Electronics since 1996, which
resulted in the creation of a small industrial technology
center.
Agriculture also represents an important share in the
municipal economy.
Pato Branco’s main sigths are:
• Raul Juglair’s Cultural Center
• Saint Peter’s Church
Campus Pato Branco
The first classes on the Decentralisation and Teaching
Unit (UNED) of CEFET-PR Pato Branco, now Pato
Branco campus, started on March 15th, 1993 and the
official opening ceremony took place on April 17th.
This campus occupies an area of approximately 4.400
square meters, with 27.000 square meters of built area.
Today, it has 283 teachers, 63 technicians and
administrative employees, 2177 students and 73
laboratories.

Ponta Grossa
Ponta Grossa is in the center of the state of Paraná,
103 km far from the capital, with a population of about
332.060 inhabitants. Its economy had three major
impulses throughout the twentieth century. The first
one, in the mid-1900 with the installation of the railroad;
the second one, in the 70’s with the installation of a
large industrial area of food and milling; the third one,
in the second half of the 1990s with the installation of a
large domestic logistics industry and production of large
networks and investments in the service sector.
The city is known as “the Princess of the Field”.
Ponta Grossa’s main sights are:
• Sant’Ana’s Cathedral

Campus Ponta Grossa
Ponta Grossa Campus was inaugurated on December
20th, 1992 and began operations on March 15th, 1993.
The first offered courses were the Integrated Technical
Courses in Food and Electronics.
Located six kilometers from downtown, this campus
was in a former Redemptorist Seminary, whose original
architecture was preserved. The area of approximately
170.000 m² on Monteiro Lobato Avenue, Km 4, was donated
by the municipality. Currently, it has approximately 23.500
square meters of built area.
Today, it has about 150 teachers, 65 administrative
employees and 2.560 students.

Toledo
Toledo, located on the west coast of Paraná, near
Cascavel, is the major grain producer of the state due
mainly to its fertile land. Today it has about 116.774
inhabitants.
Toledo‘s main sights are:

Campus Toledo
The UTFPR Toledo Campus was created on February
5th, 2007.
The municipality donated an area of approximately
68.000 m² to the UTFPR for future expansions based on a
master plan which involves all the planning of education
provided to the campus.
Today, the campus has 22 teachers, 26 technicians and
administrative employees and about 300 students.
