Block One Assembly
1. Cut twelve of the 2 7/8” x 4 7/8” Fabric A strips across one diagonal from the upper right corner to the lower left corner to
make twenty-four Fabric A-Unit A Triangles (Fig. 1). Cut the other twelve strips across one diagonal from the upper left
corner to the lower right corner to make twenty-four Fabric A- Unit B triangles (Fig. 2).
2. Repeat Step 1 with twenty-four 2 7/8” x 4 7/8” Fabric B strips to make twenty-four Fabric B-Unit A triangles and twenty-four
Fabric B-Unit B triangles.
3. Sew together one Fabric A-Unit A triangle and one Fabric B-Unit A triangle to make one Unit A (Fig. 3). Repeat to make
twenty-four Unit A strips.
4. Sew together one Fabric A-Unit B triangle and one Fabric B-Unit B triangle to make one Unit B (Fig. 4). Repeat to make
twenty-four Unit B strips.

Sew together one Unit A strip and one Unit B strip to make one A/B strip (Fig. 5).
Sew one A/B strip to each side of one 8 ½” Fabric A square to make the middle row.
Sew one 2 ½” Fabric C square to each end of one A/B strip to make the top row.
Repeat to make the bottom row. Sew the top, middle and bottom rows together to
complete one Block One (Fig. 6).
Repeat Steps 5-6 to make six Block One squares total.
Block Two Assembly

Place one 2 7/8” Fabric B square on top of one 2 7/8” Fabric D square, right sides together.
Draw a line across the diagonal of the top square (Fig. 7). Sew 1/4” away from each side of
the drawn diagonal line (Fig. 7). Cut the two squares apart on the drawn diagonal line (Fig. 8)
to make two B/D units (Fig. 9). Trim B/D units to measure 2 ½” square. Repeat to make
forty-eight B/D units total.
9. Place one 2 ½” Fabric F square on the left side of one 2 ½” x 4 ½” Fabric B strip, right sides
together (Fig. 10). Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper right corner to the
lower left corner (Fig. 10). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 11). Trim away the
excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼” seam allowance.
10. Place another 2 ½” Fabric F square on the right side of the 2 ½” x 4 ½” Fabric B strip, right
sides together (Fig. 12). Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper left corner to
the lower right corner (Fig. 12). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 13). Trim away
the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼” seam allowance. This completes
one F/B/F unit.

11. Repeat Steps 9-10 to make twenty-four F/B/F units total.
12. Repeat Steps 9-10 using twenty-four 2 ½” x 4 ½” Fabric F
strips and forty-eight 2 ½” Fabric G squares to make
twenty-four G/F/G units total (Fig. 14).
13. Follow Figure 15 to sew together two B/D units, one 2 ½”
Fabric E square and one 2 ½” Fabric C square to make one
corner unit. Repeat to make twenty-four corner units.
14. Follow Figure 16 to sew together one F/B/F unit and one G/
F/G unit to make one side unit. Repeat to make a twentyfour side units total.
15. Sew together four corner units, four side units and one 4 ½” Fabric H square to make one
Block Two square (Fig. 17). Repeat to make six Block Two squares.

Sew two Block Ones and one Block Two together to make Row One. Repeat to make Row Two.
Sew two Block Twos and one Block One together to make Row Two. Repeat to make Row Four.
Sew the rows together in numerical order to make the quilt top.
Sew one 2 ½” x 48 ½” Fabric G strip to each side of the quilt top. Sew one 2 ½” x 40 ½” Fabric G strip to the top and bottom of
the quilt top.
Sew one 5 ½” x 52 ½” Fabric F strip to each side of the quilt top. Sew one 5 ½” x 50 ½” Fabric F strip to the top and bottom of
the quilt top.
Layer and quilt as desired.
Sew the six 2 ½” x 42” Fabric C strips together, end to end with 45° seams, to make the binding. Fold this long strip in half,
lengthwise with wrong sides together, and press.
Bind as desired.
