Cut (2) 90” pieces. Cut balance into 4 lengthwise pieces, join end-to-end and center between the 90” pieces. Binding: 3/4 yd fabric H. Cut (9) 2-1/2” x wof strips and sew together end-to-end. Sewing 1. Sew four strips together on the long side to make (6) four strip units in the following fabric combinations: Units 1 and 2: J-K-F-J Units 3 and 4: H-D-I-H Units 5 and 6: E-L-G-E 2. Using the 45° angle on your quilter’s ruler cut the units on the diagonal to make the half triangles needed to sew the blocks. Refer to the diagram for cutting directions (the measurement on the long side of the triangle will be 8-3/4”). Pair two triangles in the same strip combination together along the short side to make one half of a block. Set (4) Unit 1 triangle units aside. Sew the remainder of the joined units into blocks as follows: (8) Unit 1-C Blocks and (8) Unit 2-C Blocks; (12) Unit 3-A blocks, (8) Unit 4-C blocks and (4) Unit 4-A blocks; (8) Unit 5-C blocks and (12) Unit 6-A blocks. Layer the quilt top, batting and backing. Baste, then quilt the layers together. 10. Fold the fabric H binding strips over lengthwise and press the fold line. Line up raw edges of binding with raw edges of quilt top and sew in place. Turn binding to back of quilt and stitch in place. Center and sew a border onto each edge of the quilt, sewing from seam line to seam line and backstitching at each end. Miter the corners and trim away excess fabric. A U C C t1 ni 7. Join the 6-1/2” fabric A strips end-to-end and cut into 4 equal lengths. Center and sew a B/K set onto each fabric A piece, pressing seam towards A. C U 6. Center and sew a 3-1/2” fabric B pair on each 1-1/2” fabric K pair, pressing seam toward K. A C t3 ni 5. The remaining blocks are sewn into six rows, three to be joined to the left of the double center row and three identical rows turned 180° and joined to the right of the double center row. Sew each of the (4) Unit One triangles set aside to the sides of the fabric A 11-1/8” center square. Sew blocks to each side of the center square to complete the center double row of the quilt.
