wonderful material, briarwood; durable, lightweight and at the same time it lends
itself unlike any other natural material to the production of first class pipes. Its
decorative grain is at least as much an enjoyment as the moment in which you
enjoy the unequalled flavour of your favourite tobacco. But of course we again
want to dedicate these pages to our core business: first class and expertly crafted pipes.

y e a r 2 014
Even a man of the world falls head over heels in love
sometimes, for example, in our pipe of the year.
Strong proportions and a curved bowl make it a pleasure to touch. So that it feels just as pleasant to
smoke as to hold, the thicker strength of the walls
ensures a cooler smoking pleasure.

Art.-No. J2014TO, partly rusticated, WP
Naturally this model is exclusively available as this
year’s pipe of the year with a limited and individually
numbered production. There are four different versions available: a smooth surface in brown, a smooth
high gloss finish in black, partly rusticated and sandblasted. Their common feature is a sterling silver plate engraved with the company logo set into the stem.
The result: a pipe of the year to fall in love with, which
no collection should be without.
WP (white dot edition) = These pipes are distinguished by a particularly attractive grain together with an elaborate manufacturing.

The Giant Collection.
The name says it all. The models in this collection are somewhat
bulkier, offering a more sublimely pleasurable smoking experience.
Available in two different versions: with a smooth surface in an
attractive colour and a sterling silver band on the end of the stem.
Art.-No. G 147, WP
Alternatively with a sandblasted finish in a warm, agreeable colour
with a gold/white ring combination between the mouthpiece and
the stem. The sandblasting creates a relief on the surface making
it more hard-wearing and guarantees a cooler smoking enjoyment.

Which fine wood a genuine VAUEN is carved from is immediately recognisable. Ultimately briarwood is not just any old wood. This wood is
taken from the root of the French briar, which grows in the sun spoilt Mediterranean but cannot be cultivated. To produce a pipe, a 20-30
year old root tuber is needed. However, because of our quality criteria, only 10% of the excavated tubers become so-called scantlings for
the production of our pipe bowls. The cut of these scantlings is at least as much a great art as the crafting of the pipe itself – already in this
process the ground stone for the beautiful grain is laid. Thus VAUEN quality control begins long before the piece reaches our production
facility. This is not surprising because if our raw materials were not first class, all of our experiences and our dedication would be in vain.
Which, in a nutshell, means: excellent briarwood carefully selected, specially processed and, above all, crafted with a lot of dedication.
Everything starts with the
dugout root.
Cleaning the root.
Professional cutting of the
scantlings.
Followed by “cooking” to
prevent crack formation.
The scantlings are ready for
further processing.

An attractive maple ring at the end of the stem is the optical highlight of
this collection, guaranteeing a sharp contrast with the grey coloured
bowl, just as the envious glances of other pipe connoisseurs are guaranteed.

No other embodies the Italian art of pipe making like the pipe
maker Mastro de Paja. With his pipe collection we wish to revive the Italian flair in the house of VAUEN. Designed and produced exclusively for us, this collection consists of six different
pipe models, each with three different versions: in smooth
orange-brown, in smooth dark brown and sandblasted. All have
the same masterfully artistic briarwood decoration on the
mouthpiece in common.
