Introduction
Safety & Emergencies
Smoke Detectors
If your smoke detector goes off due to cooking, steamy showers or burned toast, etc., please…
DO NOT TAMPER WITH THE DETECTOR. Call Maintenance at extension 1158 and a
technician will be dispatched immediately to repair your detector. These detectors are wired
directly into the Fire Department and tampering with them causes a safety problem for the
guests in the rest of your building.
In Case of Fire
Most buildings are equipped with interior fire alarm pull stations. When pulled, they will
automatically notify the Fire Department. In addition, there are exterior pull stations located
around The Resort in green boxes. Also, each home is equipped with local smoke detectors for
your added protection. Should the fire alarm in your building go off, please evacuate at once and
remain outside until the alarm has been silenced. Please do not tamper with the fire alarms or
extinguishers. Violators will be prosecuted by law!
Medical Emergencies
If you need medical assistance, pick up a condominium or “house” phone and DIAL “0” or
dispatch someone to The Guest Service Desk. In a medical emergency, dial 911. Relay all
available information including location and patient’s current condition. The following phone
numbers assume you are calling from a condominium or “house” phone. If you are dialing
from a pay phone or cell phone, there is no need to dial “9” before the numbers listed below.
All 911 calls can be dialed directly from any phone.

Our Child Protection Plan
Child abuse and neglect occur at all socio-economic levels. Children in need can be helped.
The sooner they are identified and approached, the better. Vermont State Law mandates that all
Children’s Program Staff and Administrators report any incidents of suspected child abuse
and/or neglect, whether such incidents may be occurring within or outside the boundaries of
Smugglers’ Notch Resort.
Our Drug and Alcohol Policy
Smugglers’ Notch is committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment for our guests.
Therefore, it is the policy of Smugglers’ Notch to comply with and support all state and federal
laws related to the use and possession of all regulated drugs, as well as the use and possession
of alcohol and tobacco products. If you would like a detailed copy of our policy please contact
The Guest Service Desk.
Handicap Accessibility
The mountain environment we are located within can create challenges to accessing some of our
facilities. Here at Smugglers’, we are working on improving accessibility for our guests and
employees. If you or someone you know requires assistance, or to find out more information
regarding accessibility at Smugglers’, please contact The Guest Service Desk so that we can best
fulfill your needs.

Environmental Distinction
Smugglers’ Notch Is The Only Vacation
Resort To Earn The Distinction Of
Vermont Environmental
Leader.
Smugglers’ is proud to be the first resort in Vermont to receive the designation of
Environmental Leader, and the second business overall in the state.
This designation reflects the commitment to pollution prevention, regulatory compliance, and
exemplary environmental management practices including recycling by guests and employees.
The Vermont Business Environmental Partnership is a voluntary, environmental assistance and
business recognition program that is open to any Vermont business that proactively incorporates
sound environmental management practices into their operations. This recognition was awarded
to Smugglers’ Notch in 2006 by the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation and the
Vermont Small business Development Center.
The Environment - an Important Part of Your Family Vacation!
Smugglers’ Notch Resort Management and Employees are committed to being responsible
stewards of Vermont’s natural resources. Vermont’s intrinsic beauty and healthfulness are
integral to our business. We live here, and working to maintain it comes naturally. Smugglers’
policy of environmental stewardship pervades all of our activities. We seek to raise the environmental awareness of guests and employees, and to broaden their knowledge and appreciation
through educational programs along with our active and passive use of the land for year-round
recreation. Our development and maintenance programs are guided by principles of land and
energy conservation, by forest and wildlife habitat preservation, and by maintaining Vermont’s
water quality and aesthetic beauty. We are committed to reusing, recycling and treating waste
through innovative techniques in a concerted effort to minimize impact on the environment.
Together we will shape a sustainable community for the future.
Our Snow Sport University Guarantee:
We guarantee that each member of your family will learn to ski or snowboard
or will improve technique, no matter what his or her current level of ability –
novice to expert – or we will refund the entire lesson portion
of that person’s vacation package. It’s as simple as that!

Six Steps to a Smooth Camp or Session Check-In
2. Map out everyone’s camp or session destination on a Village map. Camp and session
meeting locations are listed in the Resort Information Guide. Meeting times are staggered
to accommodate parents needing to drop kids at different locations.
3. Completely fill out the yellow camp card or blue lesson card that was in your check-in
packet. Include information about allergies and medications, insurance information and
emergency contact information. Be sure to list an emergency contact other than yourself in
case we are unable to reach you out on the mountain.
The morning of camp or SSU session:
4. Enjoy a relaxing healthy breakfast with your children and fuel them for their busy day!
5. Allow yourself plenty of time to arrive at the assigned meeting place, where you’ll be
welcomed by a Smuggs representative who will check over your yellow camp card or blue
lesson card.
6. You’ll then be directed to your child’s instructor. Feel free to discuss any special issues
pertaining to the child or his or her schedule for the day.
That’s it! And remember, the second day is EASY... you can check in directly with your
child’s instructor!

All-Terrain Access & Terrain Parks
Wooded areas beyond the marked ski resort area boundary as shown on the Smugglers’

between open trails are not marked trails, are not patrolled and have no skier/snowboarder
services.
If you decide to ski or snowboard inside the ski resort area boundary, enter from and exit to
an open trail. If you ski or snowboard in these wooded areas, you are solely responsible for
yourself. You should be an expert skier or snowboarder and you should stay in groups of
three or more. If you ski or snowboard beyond the ski resort area boundary, Vermont law
provides that you are liable for all expenses for search and rescue services. Do not ski or
snowboard on or across closed trails, your skiing privileges may be revoked.

Smugglers’ policy of environmental stewardship
pervades all of our activities. We seek to raise
the environmental awareness of guests and
employees, and to broaden their knowledge and
appreciation through educational programs along
with our active and passive use of the land for
year-round recreation.
Our development and maintenance programs
are guided by principles of land and energy
conservation, by forest and wildlife habitat
preservation, and by maintaining Vermont's
water quality and aesthetic beauty.
We are committed to reusing, recycling and
treating waste through innovative techniques in
a concerted effort to minimize impact on the
environment.
Together we will shape a sustainable community
for the future.
