WASH:
According to DINEPA’s monthly WASH survey data (PRAM/PrESRUEC),
covering the seven municipalities of the Metro Port-au-Prince/Croix-desBouquets (PPRA-C):
Number of IDPs and camps facing

Camp Management:
According to the most optimistic forecasts, some 230,000 people could
still be living in camps at the end 2013. It is important to continue
providing solutions for their return such as:
. Distribution of transitional shelters,
. Rental grants,
. Provision of livelihood programmes,
. Mitigation work in the camps.

2013
(21,000 households)
. There are 71.5 people per functional latrine in the camps on average.
. More than 260,000 people in the camps have benefited from garbage
disposal services in 2013.
. A residual Chlorine Surveillance System, SISKLOR, survey revealed the
presence of chlorine in the water consumed in the camps, including
80.5% in Port-au-Prince, but only 16% in Delmas.
. The two variables surveyed monthly - number of persons per functional
shower and percentage of sites with an adequate number of stations
hand washing stations - have dropped precipitously over the last year. In
April, there were 392 people per functional shower in camps, and only
2% of camp residents had a functional hand washing station. There is
need for emergency interventions to improve the situation in the camps,
as hygiene is a priority in preventing the spread of cholera
are at risk of forced eviction

The earthquake of 12 January displaced
over 1.5 million IDPs in 1,555 camps and
600,000 IDPs with host families, and
destroyed/damaged about 175,682
buildings.
Hurricane Isaac on the night of August
24 to 25 affected 218 camps or a total
of 51,228 people.
From October 23 to 30. Hurricane Sandy
affected 119 camps or 40,808 IDPs.
Protection:
More than 73,000 displaced people (over 20% of the camp population)
face threats of forced eviction. IDPs in camps require special attention due
to risk of abuse, gender-based violence, and eviction.
