Doing so is both dangerous and forbidden by law. • Radio waves may interfere with airplane operation. Be sure to turn your cellphone off before you board airplanes. ● Radio waves from cellphones may adversely influence medical apparatus and equipment. • Some people close to you in busy places such as crowded trains may be using a pacemaker. Turn your cellphone off in such places. • Abide by the instructions of hospitals and other medical institutions where it is forbidden to use or carry cellphones. ● Consider where to use your cellphone and be careful of how loudly you talk. • Do not make calls from cinemas, theaters, museums, libraries and other similar places. Turn your cellphone off or set it to the manner mode to prevent others around you from being inconvenienced by the incoming ring. • Use your cellphone in places where you will not prevent others from passing through. • Move to areas where you will not cause others inconvenience on trains or in hotel lobbies. • Take care not to talk too loudly during conversations. • Get other people's permission before you start taking photos with the cellphone's camera. Locking tab Connector • The charge indicator lights red: The battery pack is being charged. • The charge indicator lights green: Charging is complete. 1 Connect the AC adaptor to the desktop holder. 2 Pull out the power plugs of the AC adaptor and plug to a 100 VAC power outlet. 3 Attach the notches of the A5404S with the battery pack with the protrusions of the desktop holder. 4 Insert the A5404S to the locking tab of the desktop holder until it clicks into place. Before use The idle display appears when you turn the A5404S on. You can operate the A5404S functions, e.g. phone and mail, from the idle display. When you have finished an operation, the display returns to the idle display. ⇒ When the power is turned on, the idle display appears. Check the remaining battery power. Full Medium Low No power left • Charge the battery pack when there is little power left. In the 画面設定 display, use j and p to select "Set Language" → "English." Learning the basics Key operation Start with how to use j and p. p Press the center jog. j Turn the center jog up or down. Soft key functions appear at the bottom of the display. You can save any combination of menu items to suit your preferences. (Phone) This menu allows you to use the address book, call list or voice memo when making calls. (Tool) This menu provides you with a schedule, memo, calculator and other handy features for making the most of your A5404S. (Settings) This menu allows you to set Ringer, Display, Security and other settings. (DataFolder) This menu allows you to save various data by category for later use. Before use (MySelection) Other than the above, various functions are available in the Index menu. Setup You can make or receive calls even without performing the setup. 1 Turn j in the Index menu to select "Setup," and press p (select). With initial settings, operations such as changing the lock code and setting the font size or the caller ID notification are available. Note that the clock is set by default. Remembering the main icons will come in handy during operation. The initial settings are complete when the display on the right appears. 3 Press p (ok). ⇒ If you started the initial settings by pressing q (mail), the E-mail menu appears. Please contact an au Customer Service Center or an au shop if you did not subscribe for the service at the time of purchase. Be sure to perform initialization before using the E-mail and EZweb services. Initialization automatically provides your e-mail address. To change that e-mail address to your preferred address, see page 37. Skip this section if you are not going to use either e-mail or EZweb. Your e-mail address is automatically determined when you make the initial settings. Making a call Dial a phone number to make a call. Press 0 to 9 to input the other party's phone number. XXXX To call a regular phone Input the phone number starting with the area code. To call a cellphone, carphone or PHS Input all of the 11 digits in the phone number. How to use the phone 1 To notify the other party of your cellphone number Input "186" before your cellphone number. Not to notify the other party of your cellphone number Input "184" before your cellphone number. 2 Press T. Wait a short while until you hear the tone. When you have finished the call, press t. When you set the manner mode, settings for the manner mode take effect (see page 27). How to use the phone 1 Press T or p (call) to answer the call. Duration 10 When you have finished the call, press t. Display when you have received a call When a phone number is displayed: The other party has set to notify Caller ID. If the other party's name is already saved in the address book, that person's name will also be displayed. When "User unset" is displayed: The other party has set to not notify Caller ID. When "Pay phone" is displayed: You have received a call from a pay phone. When "Not support" is displayed: You have received a call from a party that is not able to notify you of their phone number.
