Long synopsis Captain Sabertooth - nobody dare speak his name aloud. He is the terror of the oceans, ruler of the night, known to everyone as “The King of the Seven Seas”. He only has one passion, one goal in life: The quest for GOLD! Pinky is a young boy who only knows one world and one law, that of Captain Sabertooth. On board the notorious Captain Sabertooth’s pirate ship, 11-year old Pinky and his loyal friend Raven set out on a thrilling quest to find King Rufus’ fabled treasure in the exotic kingdom of Lama Rama. Pinky fights against rival pirates and an evil prince in order to secure his place in the pirate crew. However, Pinky has more than treasures on his mind - he wants to find out the truth about his long lost father. An Act ionpacked Adven ture for th e who le Family ! Ever since he was the sole survivor of a shipwreck, Pinky has been driven by two desires. The first, to find out if his father is still alive, and the second, to become a pirate himself by joining the crew of the notorious Captain Sabertooth. Now Pinky is 11 years old and has the chance of his lifetime. A new deckhand is needed on The Dark Lady, Captain Sabertooth’s magnificent ship. On their last treasure hunt on Ape Island, the pirates found a map showing the way to the legendary kingdom of Lama Rama and together with it, the magnificent treasure chamber of King Rufus. However, while the village of Abra Harbour is celebrating Captain Sabertooth's homecoming, Pinky follows a strange sound on a nearby fishing boat. Not only does he find a cute monkey, but also quite suspiciously he finds swords and a pirate flag! Before he can warn Captain Sabertooth about the disguised “fishermen”, he is taken hostage by their leader Bjorn the Brave and taken prisoner onboard The Dark Lady, before it sails off. Bjorn the Brave has stolen the map to Lama Rama but needs Pinky to explain what Captain Sabertooth is up to. Pinky will not talk, only when he is forced to walk the plank does he finally give in and tells them what they want to know. Suddenly though, Pinky sees that Captain Sabertooth and his crew are following them in Bjorn’s old ship! Pinky takes heart and cuts the sails of The Dark Lady so that the pursuers can catch up and board the ship. Pinky is upset at not being given credit by Captain Sabertooth for having saved The Dark Lady, but Longfinger comforts Pinky, and at least now he’s joining the pirates on a raid to fabulous Lama Rama. When Lama Rama finally comes into sight, The Dark Lady is masked as a German merchant ship. Longfinger and Rosy impersonate a married couple asking for help after a shipwreck, and Pinky sneaks along with them. King Rufus welcomes the strangers to Lama Rama and is delighted to show them around – he even shows them the castle’s treasure chamber, filled with jewels and riches! In the evening a conflict between the fun-loving King and his rather dreary brother, Prince Badal, escalates. Badal accuses his brother of acting shamefully, so Rufus banishes Badal from the Kingdom. In the meantime, Captain Sabertooth and his crew sneak ashore, but Longfinger and his “family” are locked inside the heavily guarded guest quarters. Pinky’s big moment has come! He abseils down the castle walls, steals the keys, and leads the pirates into the treasure chamber. Finally Captain Sabertooth recognises Pinky's efforts, saying that one day he too could become a fully-fledged pirate! Meanwhile, Bjorn the Brave and his men have reached Lama Rama. They have boarded The Dark Lady and plan to ambush Captain Sabertooth on his return with the treasure. Prince Badal has become Bjorn's partner in crime, as he wants to steal the throne off his brother, and so together, they kidnap the King! Prince Badal and the guards then surprise Captain Sabertooth and his men in the treasure chamber and put them under arrest. Whilst the pirates are taken away to the dungeons, Pinky escapes to the beach where he finds Raven, and together they hide from the guards by diving into the sea. The next morning, Pinky and Raven set sail and prepare the cannons to break down the dungeon walls. The guards of course return fire, when suddenly Pinky finds King Rufus tied up and gagged onboard the ship! Pinky's attack allows Captain Sabertooth and his men to escape from the dungeons, and they too join in the fight against the rival pirates, but just when it seems they are going to win, the castle guards arrive to support Bjorn the Brave. The battle appears to have been lost when Pinky and Raven appear with their new ally, King Rufus. Badal is forced to give back the crown and is sent to the dungeons along with Bjorn and his crew. Grateful for what Pinky has done, King Rufus rewards Pinky with the choice of any item from within the treasure chamber. When Pinky chooses the King's Pearl, the King allows him to take it, but only under the condition that Pinky does not open it until he returns home. Before The Dark Lady finally sails for home, Pinky manages to trick Bjorn into telling him what he knows about his father and, in doing so, finds out that his father may still be alive! On the triumphant return of the pirates to Abra Harbour, Captain Sabertooth announces that Pinky is to become his new deck hand. Pinky then unlocks the King’s Pearl, revealing the secrets of Lama Rama before the eyes of the expectant crew. While Captain Sabertooth celebrates his homecoming, Pinky is deep in thought and vows to find his father even if he has to travel to the world’s end … Quotes “Very few things are better than family films that really work- and this one does: great acting, wonderful story and a look of an epic adventure. 6 stars out of 6!” (TV2) “Splendorous adventures! Super entertainment for the whole family! Action-packed! …The Captain Sabertooth character is both creepy and cool, bringing every child’s pirate dream to life. … Entertaining, fun, exciting and enjoyable also for adults.” (Film review by May Synnove Rogne, Osloby online edition, 24.09.2014) “Smooth pirate sailing! …This is a film tall and small children will want to see again and again.” (Film review by Filip Roshauw, Dagbladet, 24.09.2014) “This year’s local focus for Disney. A strong story, great scenes and adventurous humour and action make this a great movie for the entire family.” (Inger Warendorph, The Walt Disney Company Nordic) “More than 100,000 tickets sold at the opening weekend in Norway– we had high expectations before, but these results are higher than we had hoped for!” (Lene Hjertøy, Sales Manager, The Walt Disney Company Nordic) The Concept Stories of cruel pirates in search of great treasures have captivated audiences for centuries. The success of films such as ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ shows that pirates are still modern, exciting and something the audience wants to see. ‘Captain Sabertooth’ is the Scandinavian pirate concept which is aimed at a younger audience than the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ movies, but also plays on humour and swashbuckling action. Captain Sabertooth has been around for 25 years in Scandinavia. The concept has its own theme park, annual theatrical productions, own television series, video games, books and a full range of merchandise. Captain Sabertooth is perhaps Scandinavia's most successful multi-platform concept for children created by Terje Formoe. For more information please contact [email protected]
