From the president
Firstly I hope that you all had a Happy Festive Season. The New Year is well underway and we will be a
little busier because EXPO 2017 is only 13 months away. We had our first meeting on Thursday 4th
February and consequently we did much groundwork for this project to get underway. As time goes by,
more and more of our members will be called on to help. It will be 'all hands on deck' so do not be afraid to
offer in any way or please Say YES! When asked to help.
We have a bus trip going to Fielding on Saturday 20th Feb. for The Manawatu Expo

It has been a great Elnino Summer with most people having enough feed for stock. It seems to me, even
Weather Forecasters can be wrong-------------so what's new???????
We have a few projects in the making, all will be revealed in time e.g............ Tractor Trek in April.
Our thoughts go to the Fraser Family, Colin Taylor, and anyone who is unwell at present.

From The Editor
So quite a lot has happened in the time since the last newsletter, the hay was made, (on boxing day, after
having a big dump of rain on it, my neighbour keeps telling me “if this is a drought I’d hate to see a wet
summer, we’d be walking round with snorkels on the mud!” But it’s a case of making hay while the sun
shines, and the grass is growing well and the stock are looking great!!!
I could write a novel on making at the end of last year, however the short version consisted of: a broken
mower belt, 2 knackered bailer tyres, wet bales, wet hay and to top it all off a stuffed tractor, not too sure
what happened there yet but it’s something in the cam gears. Made for a good recovery mission though.
There will be plenty to do with the club this year so get stuck in and don’t forget, whatever you get up to
vintage machinery wise, don’t forget to write it down and send it in to go into the newsletter.

Reunited
Ian McSporran has been reunited with His D4C that he had on their farm 30 years ago, Its still in good nick
and is more that capable of going right back to work. He says he wishes it could talk so he could find out
what it has done over the last 30 years, it’s had about 3 owners and must have been in the bush at some
stage as the cab has been well strengthened.
