Apache Junction Rodeo
Grounds is the site of the
Arizona Early Day Gas Engine
and Tractor Association Show
held in the shadow of the
awesome Superstition Mountains in Arizona, March 14 &
15, 2015.
Larry and Judy Dexter from
Missouri showed their 4 immaculate Wheelhorse garden
tractors with pride. It sure was
a pleasure to have them show
with us this year. They are the
“Go to people” for Wheelhorse
information.
The show had action all
over the grounds, including
flywheel engine displays, tractor pulls and displays, garden
tractor races, garden tractor
pulls and displays, vendors
selling foods and hats and
goodies and the always popular silent auction.
The crew of Gene,& Paul
Schmidt & Rick Resh showed
a great Cub Cadet line. Those
Cubs out pull, out plow and
out race nearly everyone!
Over 40 vintage garden
tractors were shown. Donald
Winn from Stockton, Ca.
brought along 5 unusual
ones. His hefty Pull-away
walk behind track machine,
made in Stockton was able to
pull his 2 track Kit machine
back into the lineup when it
ran out of gas. He also
showed his Little Farmer, a
neat steel wheeled single
wheel cultivator. The folks
from Farm Collector Magazine took lots of pictures and
we look forward to seeing the
Little Farmer featured in their
magazine real soon. Donald
also had a Bolens Ridemaster
& Bomb Carrier track machine.
Leo Vriesekoop showed his
2 Cadet Originals, Pennsylvania Meteor and his Gibson.
Augie Root brought a number of unique GT’S plus a few
trailer loads of large tractors.
Thank you Augie...for the Bolen H-16, Speedex B & Simplicity Wonder Boy!
Juan Barrera had his very
nice Cub Cadet Original to add
to the line up. Bring ‘er back
again, Juan!
Royce & Joyce Lambert
purchased a gorgeous Cub
Cadet 102 at the show. It is a
1966 model. Welcome back
to vintage garden tractors,
Royce!
Ty Weckerly had his Chipmunk by Strunk with a cart
behind which the crew from
the Farm Collector Magazine
took photos of and said it will
also be highlighted in a future
issue.
The Weckerly’s, Dennis &
Ty brought 8 “Major Tractor
Brand” Vintage Garden Tractors as well. See the Feature
page for more about this unusual gathering.
Paul Vander Hulst showed
his 1949-52 styled Mayrath,
1920-30 Beeman Jr. on steel,
1963 Cub Cadet with a Covina belly blade and Danco
loader, 1969 yellow JD Patio
tractor & 1940’s Pond stick
steer ride on.
If I forgot anyone, please
send me pictures and info!
