HISTORY
This year’s Leverick Bay Poker Run marks the
15th anniversary of a legendary event that has
drawn the attention of thousands of nautical
enthusiasts to the waters of the British Virgin
Islands. During the Leverick Bay Poker Run,
participants travel over a predetermined route
and, at each stop on the way, draw a playing
card until they complete the itinerary at Leverick
Bay Resort & Marina. At the end of the journey,
participants holding the best five-card poker
hand are crowned as the Poker Run victors.
The Poker Run has become a national holiday
in the BVIs, attracting a large amount of visitors
from the USVI and Puerto Rico. This year’s 15th
anniversary celebrations will certainly attract the
largest crowd in the history of this renowned
event.
The upcoming celebrations will forever change
the event’s history, with new surprises at every
stop, lots of prizes and a sophisticated fashion
show at the end of the event.
PARTICIPATION
During the First Poker Run in 2002, twelve boats
participated of which three came from Puerto Rico.
Henceforth, the event’s popularity has continued
to increase. By 2007, the event had grown to 80
boats. By 2009, the event doubled in size to 121
boats. We estimate this year’s competition will
bring in no less than 250 competing boats and
close to 2,500 participants. Every year, Poker Run
donates over $10,000 to benefit the Virgin Gorda
Charitable Trust and Animal Rescue & Control.
The event has raised more than U$S100,000 to
local charities in the BVI’s.

Welcome to the 15th edition of the most
important nautical event in the BVI, the
annual Leverick Bay Poker Run. This event has
become a national holiday in the BVI as every
year it continues to attract more sponsors and
participants. Better yet, the event is receiving
more media coverage than ever before and
has gone viral, reaching beyond Caribbean
boundaries and attracting participants as far as
the US mainland and Canada.
For 2016, organizers are expecting more than
300 boats and over 3,000 participants. This
is a great advantageous opportunity for your

PRIZES
Since its initiation back in 2002, the Leverick
Bay Poker Run has awarded cash prizes to those
participants who collect the best hands during the
run. For 2016, to incentivize more participation in
the run for those attending, Poker Run organizers
will be offering all participants (even those who
don’t collect a good hand), a second chance
to win prizes through participation in several
raffles. These raffles will award prizes (such as
vacation stays at first-rate hotels and villas in
Puerto Rico and other Caribbean locations) only
to participants and, in total, these will amount to
over $10,000. Funds from the expected added
participation will allow event organizers to cover
the proceeds intended for BVI-based charity
organizations.
The Poker Run is a fun family event whose main
purpose is attracting tourism to experience
the BVI in a safe and enjoyable manner while
also contributing to the well-being of the local
charities. When you participate, everybody wins!
2016 RENDEZVOUS
The 2016 Rendezvous, to be held in the morning
on the 29nd of May, will mark the beginning of the
15th anniversary of the Leverick Bay Poker Run.
The main purpose of the Rendezvous is to ensure
the safe passage of all participating vessels from
Fajardo, Puerto Rico, and to keep all the boats
together and organized while making one stop
in St. Thomas, and a second stop (location to be
determined) in BVI, and finally, to Virgin Gorda,
at our main base in Leverick Bay. The Rendezvous

stops are great sponsorship opportunities as
sponsors will be able to coordinate targeted
promotions for the participating boats. The
2016 Rendezvous is meant to be an exciting way
to unite the international Poker Run community
while maintaining the nautical safety of all
participants on the way to Virgin Gorda. The
Poker Run organizers, the USCG and the local
authorities will help during the Rendezvous.

RENDEZVOUS LOGISTICS
During the Rendezvous, event staff will work
with Sponsors to organize promotional efforts
aimed at event participants. The event staff will
distribute VIP badges to all sponsors participating
in the rendezvous. Individuals holding the VIP
badge will receive special discounts, goodies and
access to the Rendezvous main ports of Fajardo,
St. Thomas, and Virgin Gorda. The exact nature
of the discounts, goodies and access will be
announced during the weeks prior to the 2016
Rendezvous, as this depends on the finalization
of all sponsorship and production agreements.

NEW SAFETY MEASURES
Safety is of utmost importance for the 2016 Poker
Run. New safety measures will be set in place at
the start of this year’s run, following the same
protocol of the Poker Run of America in Florida. In
addition to enhancing safety measures, this new
starting process will also benefit the economic
activity of the 2016 Poker Run’s stop sponsors
and allow visitors to better enjoy all that each
stop-over during the run has to offer.
AUDIENCE
Fans will be targeted online via the Leverick
Bay Poker Run Website, British Virgin Island
Tourism Website, Facebook, and other social
networks. The Leverick Bay Poker Run 2016 is a
nautical sport offering continuous advertising
opportunities, including all Property Rights to use
the Leverick Bay Poker Run event Logo, Digital
Photo and Video footage, five-stop unlimited
access to provide exposure including, but not
limited to, banners, kiosks, models and additional
promotional activities (open to suggestions from
the brands’ Promotions Department, including
giveaways) and the exclusive right to promote at
each stop.
For the second time, the Poker Run 2016 will
have the added bonus of a strategic partnership
with CBS Caribbean. With over 55 minutes of
commercial time and several live coverage spots,
our sponsors will be able to capitalize on this
event, which is to be transmitted throughout
Puerto Rico and the greater Caribbean area. As
part of our agreement, qualifying sponsor will
have the opportunity to be interviewed during
the event. This is a great added-value feature that
will help us reach a much greater audience as part
of our marketing efforts. The Leverick Bay Poker
Run includes door prizes of up to $20,000 in cash
winnings, championship cups, and sponsorship
possibilities. This year, for the first time, over
$10,000 in prizes will be raffled to everyone
participating in the event. We encourage all
present to purchase a hand to receive your raffle
ticket, increase your chances of winning while
contributing towards BVI charities proceeds.
All leading brands will greatly benefit by having
exposure in this internationally acclaimed
legendary event. This year’s event will be the
biggest one yet with over 2000 spectators and
approximately 200+ boats. We estimate that 35%
of the boats will originate from Puerto Rico, 20%
from USVI and 45% from BVI.
PRE-EVENT MEDIA COVERAGE
Media coverage ranks top on our list of benefits
for sponsors. Sporting events such as The
Leverick Bay Poker Run create opportunities for
exciting and interesting newspaper coverage
and photographs, television exposure showing
sponsor logos on shirts, banners, etc. Such

If a local resort or BVI business chooses to perform as the event’s Main Sponsor and said local resort
or BVI business wishes to obtain their own promotional corporate video, we will produce, edit, and
deliver said promotional corporate video for a fee of $5,000. Creating a promotional corporate video
entails, in brief, bringing our film crew to the company’s location in order to make an on-site film about
the company or resort, highlighting the organization’s main qualities, offerings and attributes. Then,
we will proceed to splice this filmed material with aerial footage of the company and finally edit the
recording following an agreed-upon script and storyboard. This is an opportunity of remarkable value
