Crate and Barrel was founded in 1962 by newlyweds Carole and Gordon Segal. They would import high-quality items from Europe and,

This fall, Crate and Barrel will open its second Canadian
location, in Calgary’s Southcentral mall. The Chicago-based retailer’s first international store opened in Toronto in 2008. “We
are thrilled to open Crate and Barrel in Calgary — a dynamic
and growing market,” says Barbara Tuft, CEO and president.

Sterling shines on Burke Mountain
Vancouver style comes to Coquitlam

A new 40-home community in Coquitlam offers Vancouver-style architecture
in deep lots not usually
found in larger cities.
Inspired by West Side
home designs found in
Kerrisdale and Shaughnessy, Sterling sits on the
foothills of Burke Mountain across from Leigh Elementary School and near a
new neighbourhood park.
“The whole idea behind
the Sterling is to create a
green urban environment
that facilitates community,” said Dale Barron, president
of
Morningstar
Homes, which developed
the project.
Homes at Sterling range
from 2,416- to 3,185square-feet. They use natural elements like stone
and wood to enhance exteriors and highlight the surrounding Coast Mountains. They also have large
porches, peaked front roof
accents, double garages
and
fully
landscaped
yards. The lots are about
20 feet deeper than those
traditionally found in the
city.
All plans include four
bedrooms,
gourmet
kitchens with granite
counters, Kohler plumbing fixtures and eco-friendly flooring and carpeting.
Prices
start
around
$550,000 and all homes
were built according to
Morningstar’s GreenStar
program, which uses environmentally friendly technology and products.
