LBG
Leadership Bowling Green is a leadership development program that began in 1985 and involves nine
sessions, beginning with a retreat in April and ending with a graduation in November.
During the nine sessions, the class studies the community's strengths and challenges through lectures,
discussions, tours and role-playing activities. The program's goal is for particpants to gain a wide
knowledge of Bowling Green through an overview of community functions. On Nov. 17, 2015, 32
students graduated from the program.
Each year, the Chamber rewards volunteers for their
hard work through a points system, with the Top 10
Ambassadors named at an end of year luncheon.
All Ambassadors earning 1,000 or more points are
recognized with stars on www.bgchamber.com. The
2015 Ambassador of the Year was Sue Parrigin of
Western Kentucky University.

Plant Managers
Roundtable
The Plant Managers Roundtable was formed
in December 2014 to strengthen the network
of operations and facility managers in our
targteted businesses. The program unites local
plant managers across various sectors as they
gather in an informal setting to examine common issues relative to their specific business.
The PMR meets bi-monthly at manufacturing
facilities in Warren County so companies can
showcase their best practices and operating
environments.
Visits
This year was an exciting year for
business expansions, as we
ended 2015 with visits to 72
targeted businesses in South
Central Kentucky. During these
visits, we work with companies to
understand their needs and to
ensure they understand what
opportunities are available to them
through our organization.
KAM Manufacturer of the Year
The Kentucky Association for Manufacturers presented this award to Holley
Performance Products for showing exceptional entrepreneurial spirit, community
leadership and policy contributions to enhance the prosperity of the Commonwealth.
The Chamber nominated Holley for this award.
We finished 2015 with 18 expansion announcements,
totaling $904,008,435 and 891 new jobs.
#02
existing
business
retention &
expansion
To retain and expand existing targeted businesses using
a proactive business retention model.
Focus: General
Motors
General Motors’ May 2015 expansion was the No. 2 project in the state for manufacturing capital
investment, bringing a total investment of $439,000,000. This expansion is the fifth largest capital
investment in the state in over a decade and the fourth largest motor vehicle related capital investment in
the state in the last five years.
ABOUT
The facility, which opened in 1981, sits on 212 acres. The
Bowling Green Assembly Plant is the only home to the iconic
Corvette, producing the 2015 Corvette Stingray and the 2015
Corvette Z06. The Corvette Z06 and Camaro Z/28 engines are
built in Bowling Green.
GROWTH
The Bowling Green Assembly Plant has experienced outstanding
growth in recent years. In May 2011, GM announced a $131 million
investment for the Bowling Green Assembly Plant to support the
production of the next-generation Corvette. The company’s 2015
announcement brings its total capital investment in five years to more
than $570 million. In January 2013, GM announced the relocation of
its Performance Build Center from Wixom, Mich., to Bowling Green.
The Performance Build Center, which opened its doors in Bowling
Green last year, allows engine aficionados to build their own specialty
engines. The move was backed by a $3.5 million investment and created
20 jobs. GM also announced an additional expansion bringing a total
investment of $44,000,000 and 36 jobs.
Focus: Bowling
Green Metalforming
ABOUT
Bowling Green Metalforming’s
expansion was the No. 3 project in
the state for manufacturing capital
investment and was the third largest
capital investment in the state in
2015, bringing a total investment of
$261,240,000 and 450 new jobs.
BGM, a division of Magna International Inc., supports companies such as General
Motors, Ford Motor Company, BMW and Mercedes, and is one of the largest
employers and automotive suppliers in the region. The original anchor tenant of
the Kentucky Transpark, the company has been the source of outstanding growth
and success for a decade. Since 2005, the company has seen several expansions, with
another underway, making the facility 1.2 million square feet with more than 1,400
employees. The project includes a 260,000 square foot expansion and the purchase
of equipment to support multiple recently-awarded contracts for heavy stamping,
robotic assembly and the coating of frames and other parts delivered to major original
equipment manufacturers. Over the next 10 years, the project’s economic impact is
expected to reach more than $800 million with the creation of 450 new jobs.

Focus: BILSTEIN
COLD ROLLED STEEL
In 2015, President’s Club Gold Star partner BILSTEIN COLD ROLLED STEEL
LP celebrated the groundbreaking of its new plant in the Kentucky Transpark. The
project, formally announced in 2013, will bring $130 million in capital investment
and create 110 new full-time jobs in South Central Kentucky creating an economic
impact of $305 million in our community over the next 10 years.
ABOUT
BILSTEIN COLD ROLLED STEEL LP is part of the family-owned German steel
processor BILSTEIN GROUP and will produce a wide range of high-precision
cold rolled strip steel products. In addition to the company's original $120 million
investment, the company is already expanding with a $10 million slitting operation,
bringing the total capital investment to $130 million. The new plant will allow
BILSTEIN to serve major players in the automotive and automotive supply industry
as well as other industries.
HISTORY
Founded over a century ago in 1911, BILSTEIN GROUP stayed family owned
throughout the years and developed multiple partnerships, expansions and
acquisitions. BILSTEIN GROUP is the leader in the cold rolled strip steel market
offering steels in various types and grades for a multitude of processing methods to
various industries, predominately the automotive industry. Products made using cold
rolled strip steel include automatic transmissions and clutches, automobile safety
parts, seat track and seat structure parts. Other products include blade steels and
cutting steels.
"Because of South Central Kentucky’s growing stature
as a leader in the automotive industry, it’s essential to
have world-renowned companies like BILSTEIN GROUP
in our community. I am very pleased to celebrate this
groundbreaking and am delighted by the opportunities
BILSTEIN COLD ROLLED STEEL LP brings to our
workforce and our local economy."

we host the staff and project managers at the cabinet to ensure they have the most
up-to-date information on the happenings throughout SCKY including business
expansions, property availability and more.

groundbreaking
Cumberland Agricultural Management announced an investment of $3 million and the
creation of 15 new jobs in Metcalfe County.
The company will construct a 12,000 square foot facility in Metcalfe County, providing
agricultural reclamation services to local farmers and an environmentally sustainable
alternative to traditional disposal methods. The new facility will be used to recycle
reclaimed material into marketable products such as cosmetics, animal/pet feed and
leather goods.
Because this project has already been recognized as an important step to improving
and preserving the water quality in South Central Kentucky, the Kentucky Soil and
Water Conservation Districts are offering a rebate to farmers using the service.

educational disciplines, including science, technology, engineering and math, or STEM. Industry
experts are working with students and faculty to develop the cars and curriculum. In 2016, the cars
will compete in the Holley LS Fest Grand Champion competition, and students will be judged on
their business/marketing plan and use of STEM educational principles
CAREER
ACADEMIES
To prepare students for life beyond
the classroom, the Chamber is
working with Ford Next Generation
Learning to implement career
academies in local high school
classrooms. The Chamber raised $1.4
million to put The Leader in Me in
every school in Warren County, which
was highly successful in developing
leadership skills in the elementary and
middle school grades. Ford NGL will
take that leadership experience and
pair it with career-focused learning
in high schools. Ford NGL uses the
proven model of career academies
to transform public high schools by
combining education, students and
businesses in a partnership that clearly
defines the roles, responsibilities and
vision each group brings to the table.
