Welcome to the Acadian Timber
ACADIAN TIMBER WELCOMES YOU TO ITS NEW BRUNSWICK PRIVATE TIMBERLANDS 22000196 Welcome to our beautiful lands. Our forests are essential to the regional environment, economy and way of life. These timberlands that you have chosen to use provide valuable raw materials for manufacturing plants and create jobs for hundreds of people. We believe the future of our business depends upon keeping our Woodlands healthy and productive, for it is the forest that is the foundation of our business. Acadian Timber is committed to managing multiple values: wood, wildlife and water. Acadian Timber demonstrates its commitment to the practice of sustainable forestry by maintaining its practices in accordance with the Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI® ) program. Acadian’s woodlands operations have been certified to the SFI Program Standard since 2000. This certification is verified annually by independent auditors. Please take a few minutes to read this booklet carefully and learn about some of our policies on forest management and conservation. We hope you enjoy a safe, joyful visit on these privately-owned lands. We welcome your suggestions regarding other ways in which we can make our forests accessible and improve the services and facilities we provide to the public. If you require further information or assistance please consult our checkpoint staff in St. Quentin at (506) 235-3528, Forest Recreation patrols or call (506) 356-4100 x 4276 or (506) 737-2345 x 2401. Information contained in this booklet is subject to change without notice. ACADIAN TIMBER WELCOMES YOU TO ITS NEW BRUNSWICK PRIVATE TIMBERLANDS PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT EVERYONE USING ACADIAN TIMBER’S FOREST MUST HAVE THE REQUIRED LAND USE PASSES AT ALL TIMES OF THE YEAR (JAN. 1 TO DEC.31). UNAUTHORIZED USERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO LEAVE OUR PROPERTY IMMEDIATELY. ALL PASS HOLDERS MUST HAVE A PICTURE ID FOR PASS VERIFICATION BY OUR LAND USE PATROLS. ACCESSING ACADIAN TIMBER PROPERTY We are committed to the security of our property and the property of our workers. In recent years we’ve put emphasis on securing the property with automated gates, camera systems, decommissioning of old roads, the placement of steel gates and restricting access by blocking roads with boulders. We are committed to providing access to the favourite recreational areas of the property, however from time to time some areas may be restricted. Ten gates have been installed on Tower Hill Road in the Plaster Rock area to enable Acadian Timber to control road conditions due to heavy rain or snow. Please do not plan on hunting within these areas as we never know exactly when we will need to temporarily close these gates. In the Plaster Rock Area, to enter Acadian Timber Property, you must access through an approved entry point. Approved access points are generally one of the following: STAFFED CHECKPOINTS OR AUTOMATED GATES - At these entry points you must present yourself at the checkpoint window or in front of the camera to be identified. STEEL GATES – Passage is by authorized key only or ATV users with land use passes may pass on the designated ATV bypass trail. ACCESS IS NOT PERMITTED Where roads are blocked with rocks and Caution signs, no vehicles are allowed past this point as we are taking measures to protect the road. Where roads are decommissioned or blocked with a No Trespassing sign, vehicles, ATV’s, UTV’s or snowmobiles CANNOT access through these entry points. PATROL PERSONNEL Patrol personnel are on Acadian Timber Freehold property for your safety and to help you if you should require assistance. They are authorized to: Stop vehicles or people to check for access passes. Request that people who are not in possession of an access pass to leave the property immediately. Personally escort people from the property when regulations are not being followed. Check wildlife bag limits and fish for limit, size and scale sample. NOTE: Patrol personnel will normally display a green flashing light while stopping a vehicle but vehicles should be prepared to be checked at all times by Acadian Timber personnel who do not display flashing lights. Please be advised that Provincial regulations apply on Acadian Timber’s Forest Land and all provincial hunting, fishing and recreational vehicle regulations must be respected. FIRE SAFETY Fire prevention is absolutely essential. In order to protect our woodlands property, we may prohibit access or ask you to leave our timberlands during periods of high fire hazard. Fires are permitted ONLY in designated areas using the steel fire rings provided. Please ensure that fires are completely extinguished before you leave the site. Please dispose of cigarettes, cigars and other hazardous materials responsibly - never throw them into the forest. Use dead and down trees for firewood at designated locations - never cut living trees. Please burn firewood and paper only. Do not burn plastic and garbage. Use common sense and be diligent in your fire prevention efforts. SAFE DRIVING RULES Several serious vehicle accidents occur each year on wood roads and many of them have the potential to be fatal. The majority of these accidents are caused by unsafe acts. We are determined to eliminate vehicle accidents by strictly enforcing Transportation Regulations and Company Policies. Your cooperation is essential. Employees, contractors, recreational users and visitors are required to practice defensive driving skills. IF YOU TAKE PLEASURE IN DRIVING ON OUR WOODS ROADS, PLEASE FOLLOW THESE RULES. THEY MIGHT SAVE SOMEONE’S LIFE, MAYBE EVEN YOURS. Drive slowly & carefully. Speed radar checks are conducted regularly. Do not exceed posted speed limits.
