Vermont Veterinary Medical Association Vermont Veterinary Medical Association Who We Are The Vermont Veterinary Medical Association (VVMA) is an organization committed to making a positive influence in the lives and health of animals. The VVMA mission is to promote animal well-being and public health, to provide education for veterinarians and the public, and to enhance the ability of veterinarians to succeed. There are over 300 member veterinarians in the VVMA. The VVMA is structured to work for its members and act as a collective voice for the veterinary medical profession in Vermont. The VVMA provides a number of tangible benefits to its members, including information resources, continuing education opportunities, and discounts on personal and professional products, programs and services. VVMA also offers important intangible benefits to its members. VVMA members have many of the same needs, concerns and interests as you do. Your professional fellowship and contacts enhance your growth and experience. Your participation provides a platform for the profession for a collective, organized voice on a state level. If You Are Not Already a Member, Consider These Benefits Discounted CE fees: Members receive discounted registration rates to attend the high quality continuing education programs we offer at our one-day Winter Meeting and our twoday Summer Meeting. The VVMA attracts nationally recognized speakers on topics of most interest to our members. Advocating for the profession: The VVMA has an active presence in Montpelier monitoring legislative issues and potential rule changes that affect each and every veterinarian. We advocate for our members within the legislature, and also within committee meetings and regulatory agencies affecting our profession. Publications: Our biannual newsletter keeps members informed about veterinary issues and activities in and outside Vermont. The VVMA Member Directory puts member contact information, important government listings, referral institutions, and other helpful information within easy reach. It feels good to be a VVMA member! Information resource: VVMA members receive free and timely information on a variety of issues affecting veterinarians such as state regulations, disease updates, disaster preparedness and client resources. Through our emails, VVMA members can stay abreast of important issues necessary to practice successfully and have access to the “Members Only” section of our website. VVMA staff is there as your resource to give you answers to questions you may have about the profession. Free or reduced advertising: VVMA members can place classifieds ads on our website and be listed in the relief veterinarian listings in the VVMA newsletter without charge. They also receive reduced advertising rates in our Member Directory and newsletter. Client Referrals: We promote member veterinarians through our Client Referral Services. When clients contact the VVMA or visit our website, we promote VVMA member veterinarians in their area. Health Insurance: Members can purchase group health insurance at competitive rates, and the VVMA has business alliances with services offering discounts to our members on credit and debit card processing check acceptance services, debt collection, and tamper resistant prescription pads and paper. Networking: The VVMA email list is used by the VVMA and its members to disseminate timely and important information to the veterinary community. The VVMA has a private Facebook page for members to discuss cases, network, etc.
