Atlas Concorde
The second in our short series of articles dedicated to the
prime leaders in global tile production and distribution
focuses on Italian major Atlas Concorde.
W
hen significant quantities
of Italian tiles first
arrived on our shores in
the 1970s, the Sassuolo
region in Italy was home to more than
400 tile manufacturers, principally,
family-owned enterprises. Today, many
of those companies have joined forces
to establish powerful groups. Gruppo
Ceramiche Concorde consists of Atlas
Concorde, Ceramiche Keope, Ceramiche
Supergres, Ceramiche Caesar, FAP
Ceramiche, Mirage, Refin Ceramiche,
Novoceram, Italon and Marca Corona,
which was founded in 1741.
The
multi-brand
philosophy
provides a balance to product offerings
and market penetration. Each member
has its own mission and target market,
supported by central structures that
provide unity and strength.
The group is the second largest in
Europe with a turnover that exceeds
600 million euro.
Atlas Ceramiche – the founder
of the group – was formed in 1974
and is regarded as a key entity in the
world of ceramics. Its annual turnover
surpassed 200 million euro in the last
calendar year.
Ceramiche Concorde was founded
in 1969 and quickly gained a deserved
reputation for innovative product development and sustainable growth.
The companies merged in 1990 to form
Ceramiche Atlas Concorde, which received UNI EN ISO 9001 certification
for its production processes five years
later.

In 1998 Atlas Concorde commenced
production of porcelain stoneware and
the company gained an EU Ecolabel for
those collections in 2004. Atlas Concorde
became a member of the Green Building
Council in 2009.
With more than 500 highly skilled
employees, and 100 agents working in
the field, Atlas Concorde has close to
3000 distributors located in over 100
countries around the globe.

practical in regards to performance.
The company’s product mix includes
20mm thick porcelain, slim 4.8mm
product, raised floor systems and a contemporary installation system for ventilated facades.
Atlas Concorde products are specified for use in hospitality areas, shopping
centres,
restaurants,
bars,
commercial environments and private
residences.
Product collections include convincing replications of wood, stone and concrete, and novel designs which reflect
appropriate use of colour and texture.
Atlas has strategically located subsidiaries in the US state of California
and Moscow Oblast, Russia, plus a representative office in Beijing, China.
The company continues to invest
10 per cent of its sales revenues into
development of new technologies and
products, which are manufactured at
factories in Spezzano di Fiorano and
Finale Emilia, Italy. These premises are
equipped with state-of-the-art machinery, which permits production of close
to 13 million square metres of floor and
wall tiles per annum.
