It is a time when we say a quiet thanks for all we have and for all that the future holds.” Anna Marie Edwards Bristol School Gaia Easter Magazine Page 2 MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR Another term has passed and again we have reasons for celebrations…Lots of challenging, successful activities have been done: Intensive Courses in French and German, Teacher Training workshops offered by the British Council within the Addvantage Partnership Programme and the very good results obtained by our students in the University of Cambridge mock examinations (PET,FCE and CPE with over 90 % of passes in total), which will certainly augur a good harvest in June. Well done students, and thank you teachers for your hard work in marking all these exams! A Happy Easter full of eggs filled with sweet joys and reborn, renovated hopes in the coming months! Pelo menos é o que muita gente pensa. E dizem: — Um coelho é um coelho, quer esteja na coelheira ou no campo. E não põe ovos. Então como é que podia trazê-los pela Páscoa? E é o coelho da Páscoa mais bonito do mundo porque foste só tu que o imaginou! Easter in Germany In Germany Easter is started by covering the cross on Good Friday. On this day they eat dishes which have fish in them. Easter starts with mass, which is started on Saturday evening and continues until Sunday morning. On Sunday it is Family Day on this day they have a special Easter lunch and they have colored eggs and a cake which is shaped like a lamb. They also eat other sweet foods such as cookies, cake and chocolate on this day and the best part of the day is the hiding of the eggs and cookies in the garden. Another tradition is the Easter Fire which is where all the old Christmas trees are gathered up and burnt in a special place, this is done so as to clean away the last signs of winter and moving onto spring. In Germany green eggs are used on Maundy Thursday or Holy Thursday.
