Just Yell Fire Overview
Alpha Omicron Pi was founded on a promise to serve not only one another, but the
greater community as well. This commitment reflects a philosophy of friendship, concern,
and usefulness in the world. AOII chapters donate time and resources to countless local
community projects and organizations, as well as to our international philanthropy, arthritis
research and education.
In order to answer the call to serve in our communities, Alpha Omicron Pi is partnering with
Just Yell Fire to educate young girls and women about the dangers of violence and abuse and
empower them to take control of situations with which they may be faced. AOII is joining the
“million girl revolution” and ready to help disseminate the message to millions more!
Just Yell Fire is a non-profit organization that is taking on a crisis social problem: violence and
abuse against young women and girls. The numbers are horrific: 1 in 4 becomes a sexual
assault victim, 1 in 3 face dating abuse, and too many encounter random violence, date rape
drugs, hate crimes, or traffickers. Just Yell Fire believes that every girl has the right to live a life
free of fear, abuse, or violence and we’re fighting back. AOII has partnered with Just Yell Fire to
support these rights.
Since 2006, Just Yell Fire has grown into a 1.5 million girl revolution across 64 countries as we
empower girls to know their rights, to stand up for themselves, to be aware of dangers they
face, and to escape violence when trouble finds them. In addition to the first film, Just Yell
Fire, the organization recently released another film, Just Yell Fire—Campus Life, distinctly
aimed at collegiate women.
Alpha Omicron Pi members and chapters are proud to support such a crucial cause for
women and girls in an effort to combat these social situations in our society today.
Fueled with a passion for service and a commitment to change the world, AOII is also
eager to support the innovation and dedication from “Just Yell Fire” Founder, Dallas Jessup.
A member of the Nu Omicron Chapter of AOII at Vanderbilt University, Dallas typifies each
and every value that AOII encompasses, and Alpha Omicron Pi is honored to join the
“Just Yell Fire” revolution.
For more information about how you can help AOII in their efforts to support the Just Yell Fire,
please contact Rachel Boison, Assistant Director of Public Relations, at 615.370.0920.
*All of the graphic design elements can be printed locally or by using an internet printer.
AOII uses multiple internet printers that are fast and economical—our recommendations
are www.psprint.com and www.acidflyers.com.
Logos: Use this graphic element for electronic communication and social
media promotions.
Buttons/Stickers: This element can be printed as a button or a sticker—whichever you prefer.
If you have a button maker, your chapter can print this image manually or you can take the
design to a local or internet printer to have stickers printed*.
T-Shirts: No event is ever complete without a t-shirt! The vector image included can be taken
to a t-shirt printer and downloaded for processing. The AOII Emporium is a great place to start.
Email [email protected]
Table Tents: These can be printed in color or grayscale using your own personal printer with
the PDF version of the image. The 8.5 x11” document has been designed as a trifold, selfstanding table tent.
Included Items
For Print
Flyers: This document is designed to be able to print yourself or through a printer in
color or grayscale.
Banners: Because of the size, you will have to use a printer for the banner. With the size
of 3’x 6’, it will definitely be an attention-grabber.
Postcards: The 5.5 x 4.25” postcard is a great way to get local alumnae involved in your project.
Newspaper Advertisement: This ad should be forwarded to the local newspaper for print.
For Distribution
Pre-project media release: With the template already written, you will just need to insert the specifics of the
project into the release before distribution. This will need to be mailed within two weeks prior to the project
deadline.
Post-project media release: With the template already written, you will just need to add the specifics
regarding the outcome of the project. Remember to include pictures of the project, as the newspaper will be
more likely to print a story that is accompanied with a good photo!
Public Service Announcement: This should be forwarded to the local radio station, along with the preproject press release at least two weeks prior to the project deadline.
An Overview of Just Yell Fire: If you want to ask other organizations to participate, you should include a
personal letter along with an overview of the project. These should be mailed at least one month prior to the
project deadline.
Letter to Other Organizations: If you want to ask other organizations to participate in a Just Yell Fire event,
you should include a personal letter along with an overview of the project. These should be mailed at least
one month prior to the project deadline.
Planning Instructions
1. Make a Plan!
Organization and pre-planning will ensure that your chapter will conduct
a successful “Just Yell Fire” event. Use the included resources, timeline, and
promotional tools to track the progress of the event planning.
What should this event look like? Just Yell Fire is an informational project from which all
women will benefit.
For collegiate chapters: AOII suggests partnering with your university to conduct a Just Yell
Fire informational event which is open to all women within the collegiate community.
During this informational session, the Just Yell Fire video could be shown in conjunction
with a self-defense or campus safety speaker.
For alumnae chapters: AOII suggests that, if alumnae are not able to coordinate their
efforts with a nearby collegiate chapter, the chapter can hold a Just Yell Fire event for local
high school seniors who will soon be entering college. During this informational session,
the Just Yell Fire video could be shown in conjunction with a self-defense speaker.
2. Form a Committee!
Use a committee to help you with the preparations for the project. You should
also enlist the assistance of the Philanthropy Chair and the Vice President of
Communications for the chapter.
3. Get Down to the Details!
For collegiate chapters, reach out to the university to determine if they would
be interested in partnering with AOII for the Just Yell Fire information to
attract a broader audience.
For alumnae chapters, contact area high schools or the local Board of
Education to sponsor a campus safety event for area senior women.
> Outline the activity level of your project:
~ What kind of project do you want this to be?
~ Who do you want to ask to participate?
~ What role do you want your members to play in the project?
> Select a self-defense or campus safety expert to speak at the event.
> Identify a project manager who will be responsible for the overall event. Also, identify
committee members specifically aimed at promotions, community involvement, and
educational materials.

attendees to take home following the informational session. These can include tips and
tricks as references by the speaker or the following handouts regarding the Dating Bill of
Rights and defense techniques.
Educational Handouts
The Just Yell Fire organization also offers useful drink coasters which include a color-coded

Dear Partner:
To help educate young women and girls on the violence associated with dating and abuse, the
<INSERT CHAPTER NAME> of Alpha Omicron Pi will be sponsoring a Just Yell Fire educational
seminar and training on <INSERT DATE> at <INSERT LOCATION> at <INSERT TIME>. In

The statistics are horrifying reminders of how AOII can help to spread the message of Just Yell Fire.
Twenty-five percent of women fall victims to sexual assault at some point in their lives. Moreover,

dangers, preventative tactics, and sources of support to women across the world.
