Please remember, if your student is scheduled to acolyte, he or she needs to be in Jones Gym no later than 7:45 a.m. on the morning
in which he/she is scheduled to serve. After 7:45 a.m., we find replacements as needed, in order to provide time to practice.
CHAPEL NOTES
Ash Wednesday was last week and marked the beginning of our Lenten journey. We observed the imposition of ashes and Holy Eucharist that morning. Lent is a penitential season, a time for us to take stock of
our lives and seriously work on those parts that need improvement. We all have those parts regardless of
if we are young or old! Traditionally for many, an old habit is given up or a new habit is added during the
Lent season. These Lent promises are intended to improve our relationship with God by either giving up
something that takes our focus off of our commitment to Him or adding something that helps us carry out
our spiritual mission in this world.
The reminders of how Chapel Lenten time is different will be apparent: we will sing the Kyrie instead of
the First Song of Isaiah. We will recite the Lord’s Prayer in Spanish, a tradition for many and a new experience for some. For some, the hardest change is remembering not to say the “Alleluias” that in other seasons
we offer so exuberantly. It is hoped that these changes to our routine might make us a little uncomfortable.
And in that state, maybe we can be drawn to the ONE calming force in the midst of any chaos.
This Lent I hope you will consider setting aside a little time each morning, or one or more times a week, for
peace, beauty, quiet fellowship, and prayers for our community. You are welcome to join us for Morning
Prayer at All Saints. There is always room for more in Jones Gym! Peace, Chaplain Paige+
ALL I CAN SEE IS RED DAY THANK YOU
A BIG thank you to our Eighth grade students for a wonderful day full of serenading and smiles. Love was
spread all over our campus by these cupids in the making! Thank you to all of the families who supported
the eighth grade with their purchases, and also to all of the parents who helped with the classroom and
grade level parties. It was a festive day, to say the least!

TECHNICALLY SPEAKING
with Dr. Penny Carpenter
After receiving so much positive feedback about web searching tips
in the last issue, I thought I would share a time saving trick. Using the
Control F function (or Command F on a Mac) allows you to quickly
find a keyword(s) on a page. Don’t waste time scrolling. Try Control F
the next time you need to skim a document or webpage.

Project Based Learning: The eighth grade students are planning raised bed gardens. It is our hope to build
the beds, grow spring vegetables, and donate our harvest to the South Plains Food Bank. So to get us
started, we give a big thanks to our backdoor neighbor, Big Lots! The management team was kind enough
to donate seed starter kits and soil to start bedding plants. Stay tuned for updates as our project continues.
SMART Tables 442i: PLC teachers met to discuss options and methods of implementing their new SMART
Tables. The purchase process has begun, and now we anxiously wait for their arrival. They are portable
which allows us to place them in different common areas and classrooms when desired. Our teachers agree
that trying, testing, and sharing effective ways to integrate the tables with students will facilitate a successful adoption process.
COCA-COLA SCHOLARS PROGRAM FINALIST
Congratulations to senior Catherine Latour who was notified that she is a one of 250 high school seniors
to be selected nationwide as a Regional Finalist for the Coca-Cola Scholars Program. She will receive a
$1,000 scholarship with the potential to receive a $20,000 scholarship if selected as one of the 150 CocaCola Scholars. Congratulations, Catherine!
WEDDING BELLS
Two members of the All Saints staff are proud to share that wedding bells are ringing in their families!
• Becky Parker and her husband, Don, are proud to announce the marriage of their daughter, Cimarron,
to Greg Bruneau on February 13. The couple were married in La Garenne - Columbes (Paris) France.
The couple will be honeymooning in Texas. Becky is the Kindergarten aide in the PLC.
• Candace Cameron’s son, Kyle Cameron, married Ashley Adkins on January 15 in Houston. They enjoyed a week long cruise to the Western Caribbean following the wedding. Ashley and Kyle are living
in Huntsville where she is employed at the Texas Dept. of Criminal Justice, and he is employed at Sam
Houston State University. Candace teaches music at All Saints.
Congratulations to these families!

NATIONAL PIG DAY
Pig Day is about a month away! All Saints celebrates National Pig Day on March 1. We celebrate by eating
an all beef hotdog lunch, racing mechanical pigs and other fun activities.
We want you to know about the pig races now so you can find a pig and be ready when race day arrives.
Students in grades Pre-K through 4th grade can race a pig. You can order a pig online, or this year our older
students will be donating their pigs and putting them up for adoption. We will have an adoption day in
February, and you can adopt a pig (while supplies last) for $5. Look for more information about Pig Day
coming soon! If you have a pig you would like to donate, please bring it to Mrs. Long.
