There are seemingly endless options for dining, shopping and entertainment all located within walking distance. And even though our organization works and plays here every day, we are still amazed with all of the new additions to our city when we produce our Guide to Downtown Norfolk each year. Downtown Norfolk brings together the unique experiences of shopping, dining, culture, business, exciting attractions and peaceful places. Use our Guide to plan an afternoon, a weekend, a business lunch, a shopping adventure or a special evening. Downtown is a unique and special place and we invite you to come back to experience it again and again. The Downtown Norfolk Council (DNC) is comprised of the over 300 businesses and individual members you will find listed here. With over 20,000 copies distributed downtown and beyond, a guide listing is a benefit to our members and just one of the ways that the DNC promotes our membership to both visitors and the entire community. You’ve got Questions? We’ve got Answers. As you will find, the guide serves as an essential resource for planning and ensures that you are aware of all the amazing experiences downtown has to offer. Thank you for choosing downtown and enjoy your visit! Sincerely, Mary B. Miller President and CEO Downtown Norfolk Council About the Cover In March 2014, the Downtown Norfolk Council conducted a Guide Cover Contest and requested the community to submit their most vibrant, creative and defining pictures of Downtown Norfolk. This year’s Guide cover is a collection of those images. The Downtown Skyline image was selected as the winning photo, captured by Peter Squicciarini, native to Norfolk. The beautiful USS Battleship Wisconsin pictured on the cover was also submitted through the Guide Contest by Suping Li, selected as the second place winner. The third place winner, Stephen Halley is featured on page 16. Two additional photos from the Contest can be found on page 20 & page 34. 2 We know how it is to be a visitor in a new place.
