Welcome to
the Spinning World
The Yellow Room saw colors of the world spinning
around them and burst into
song! Fanned by their inquisitive nature and created by
imaginative hands rubbing oil
pastels over a maple board,
this delightful piece is sure

Congrats, Christa! 4
Blue Room children present their selfportrait in a collection of clay figures holding
hands encircling the sun. The figures are a
representation of each child, which they have
constructed from clay and glazed themselves.
The children are assembled in a circle holding
hands representing the unity of oneness,
lasting friendship and universal love.
Window to Nature
Experience nature brought to you by
the Adolescent Class through a
beautiful nature themed window
mosaic. This intricate cut glass mosaic has been carefully constructed
by the Adolescent Class with many
details depicting life at a tree, along a
stream on a sunny day. This lovely
piece of art will look elegant in any
room. A must see.
Bid on these
Teacher Features &
Classroom Projects on
Friday, April 22nd at
our Spring Gala!
Adirondack Chair
The Green Room
children hand painted
a child sized Adirondack chair with a
beautiful floral design. Each petal is a
unique painting of
their thumb prints.
This is a lovely gift to
share with your child.
Montopoly!
Buy Pink Tower Avenue, take a
ride on Writing Railroad, or select
a Grace and Courtesy card! The
Upper El students have been working hard to create this Montessorithemed Monopoly board. You
won't want to miss your chance to
bid on this project - and a special
surprise bonus is included!
Nailed It!
We sanded, stained, nailed,
threaded, and combined pieced
of wood to create a stunning
piece of art!
Montessori Mandala
A mandala is a geometric figure representing the universe.
The meaning of a mandala is
different for each person or
group that makes one. The
class worked together to create a mandala that represents
lower elementary and MSOL.

Auction Season
Hands on soil-study for the
Lower Elementary class!
Our 24th Annual Auction will
be held this month at Ruffled
Feathers Country Club in Lemont! Our auction team, Jeannie
Markionni, Jill McNaughton and
Kim McGraw have planned a
formal event with a sit down
dinner, open bar and dancing
featuring a Silent and Live Auction. Funds raised from classroom projects and “Teacher
Features" are allocated to
teachers to purchase classroom
materials. Remaining proceeds
will benefit our building fund.
MSOL was established in 1979
and for 20 years rented space
in various churches for our
programs. In 1999 an MSOL
parent donated eight acres of
property, allowing us to finally
have a home of our own.
Charitable contributions to our
building fund have made it possible to finance three buildings
and a beautiful natural playground. Recent improvements
to our campus include the
parking lot expansion in 2013,
the chicken coop in 2014 and
this year we added 500 feet of
fence along the eastern border
of our playground. Our next
major project is a building to
house the Adolescent Program,
a Toddler Program, a multipurpose space or all of the above!
$1,000 sponsorships are availa-
ble to support the Building
Expansion Exploratory Committee. Thank you to the
members of our school community who have already supported the auction and to our
dedicated staff who make time
the time to create priceless
classroom projects.
We are all a part of creating
the MSOL legacy and every
donation counts. Consider
becoming a sponsor, procure
donations, host a golf foursome, borrow a friends vacation home or timeshare, donate your airline miles or gift
cards or better yet, attend this
wonderful event!

Pajama Day
Pajama Day was a success! We
collected 58 pairs of girls pajamas, 47 pairs of boys pajamas,
21 women's pajamas, and 8
pairs of infant pajamas totaling
141 pairs of pajamas for the
Guardian Angel Home in Joliet. In addition to the pajamas
we also collected 3,312 baby
wipes. “Bed time stories’ for
the preschoolers was also a
success. They loved having the
older students read to them.
We would like to thank everybody who made this event a
success. Thank you for all the
donations and readers.

Grandparents’ Day
All grandparents are invited to
visit us on Friday, April 15th for
Grandparents' Day! Enjoy a
personal tour of the classroom
from your grandchildren who
will be proud to give you a
hands on demonstration of their
favorite classroom work. You
will meet the teachers, tour the
school and share a snack but
most importantly you will meet
the BFFs you have heard so
much about! Students whose
grandparents are not in town
may invite a special guest to
attend. For the convenience of
our guests, we have a scheduled a specific time for each
class to host visitors. Parent
volunteers will assist our
guests with parking, classroom locations, refreshments
and crafts. Prior to Grandparents' Day, teachers will
ask parents to sign a permission slip for children who will
be going home with their
grandparents on April 15th.

The Montessori School of Lemont is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that has
been educating children ages 3 through 8th grade for 35 years based on the methods and philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori. The school was established in 1979 by
teachers dedicated to offering families an individualized educational approach for
their children. The school relocated to Lemont in 1990. In 2001, the school moved
to its permanent location after the construction of a new campus on 7.5 acres of
donated land. In 2010, a third was completed to accommodate the growing enrollment and in 2011, a “natural” playground and an organic community garden were
created. Funds are currently being raised to expand our campus to provide for the
youngest (toddler) and oldest (adolescent) members of our community.
MSOL does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sexual orientation or national or ethnic origin.
