Fallas 2013 - 14th to the
19th Fiesta of “ San Jose “
This excellent Valencian fiesta takes
place in Benidorm from the 14th to
March 19th, the festivity of San José.
Like the city of Valencia, Benidorm
honours San José with Las Fallas - a
festival of nightly street parties and
rowdy fireworks. Three giant papiermâché statues are erected and then
ceremoniously burned to the ground
on the final evening.
The trio of statues, known as Central
Falla, Rincon Falla and Els Tolls Falla,
are constructed by - and placed in the different districts of Benidorm.
The areas try to outdo each other
with their huge and elaborate
designs and often use the statues
to poke fun at local celebrities
and politicians.
The Valencian fiesta is celebrated
in Benidorm with the erection
of the Fallas enjoy Fireworks and
concerts. Fallas burnt on 19th and
is not to be missed.
For five days the castles,
monuments and “mascletaes”
become the protagonists of
Benidorm, where the smell
of gunpowder is interspersed

with the smell of flowers and the music of
the bands with the sound of masclets. A
transformation that occurs as a prelude to
spring, and on March 19, everything ends
and everything begins; with the last of the
ashes people start to dream of Fallas again
for the following year.
Commemoration of the “ Vírgen del
Sufragio’ 16th
COMMEMORATION OF THE ARRIVAL OF THE
BLESSED VIRGIN
At the old town church there is an offering
flowers. The discovery of the Patron Saint, the
‘Vírgen del Sufragio’ is reenacted as the Virgin
is carried from the beach by the harbour up
to the Church. A hugely moving occasion
with bands and the ringing of the Church
bells to announce the arrival of the blessed
Virgin.

Fallas 2013- Del 14 al 19 de Marzo Fiesta
de San José.
Esta magnífica fiesta valenciana tiene
lugar en Benidorm del 14 al 19 de Marzo,
son las fiestas de San José.
Al igual que en la ciudad de Valencia,
Benidorm honra a San José con las
Fallas, una celebración con fiestas por las
calles en la noche y sus ruidosos fuegos
artificiales. Tres gigantes figuras de
papel maché son alzados y quemados
de forma ceremonial en la última noche.
Las tres figuras, son conocidas como
La Falla del Centro, La Falla del Rincón
y La Falla Els Tolls. Son construidas
por- y situadas en- diferentes zonas de
Benidorm. Estas tres Fallas compiten
con sus grandes diseños elaborados y
utilizan sus figuras para ironizar sobre
políticos y personas famosas.
La fiesta valenciana se celebra en
Benidorm con sus fallas disfrutando de
los fuegos artificiales y sus conciertos.
Las fallas se queman el día 19 y no es
algo que te puedas perder.
Durante cinco días, los castillos,
monumentos y mascleta se convierten
en protagonistas de Benidorm, mientras
que el olor a pólvora se mezcla con el
olor a flores, la música de las bandas se
mezcla con el sonido de las mascleta.
Una transformación que tiene lugar
como un preludio a la primavera, y
el 19 de Marzo todo termina y todo
empieza; con el final de las cenizas la
gente empieza a soñar en las fallas del
próximo año.

CONMEMORACIÓN DE LA LLEGADA
DE LA VIRGEN BIENAVENTURADA. En
la antigua iglesia del centro hay una
ofrenda de flores. El descubrimiento de
la Santa Patrona, la Virgen del Sufragio
es promulgada como Virgen, y es
transportada desde la playa ,al lado
de puerto, hacia la iglesia. Es un gran
acontecimiento con bandas de música y
las campanadas de la iglesia anuncian la
llegada de la Virgen Bienaventurada.
Fathers Day in Spain is the 19th March
Saint Joseph’s Day, also known as Fallas de
San José, honors St Joseph, the Virgin Mary’s
spouse. It is held annually on March 19. This
date is also known as Father’s Day (Día del
Padre) in many areas in Spain.
What do people do?
Some people attend special church services
to honor the life of St Joseph. St Joseph’s Day
also celebrates fathers. Many people make
a special effort to visit their father or father
figures. Some people also take fathers or
father figures to a restaurant or give Father’s
Day gifts.
Many people wear traditional Valencian
clothing on Saint Joseph’s Day in some
parts of Spain, particularly Valencia. Many
men wear decorative shirts, waistcoats and
hand woven shawls with long fringes. Many
women wear long, wide dresses made of
richly colored fabrics. They also wear jewelry,
hair ornaments and hand woven, knitted
or crocheted shawls. People display their
clothing during parades.
Fallas (or falles) are constructed, displayed
and ceremonially burnt in many towns and
villages in the autonomous community
of Valencia, including the city of Valencia.
Fallas are elaborate scenes made of papiermâché and cardboard. One is chosen by
popular vote each year to be preserved in the
regional museum. The rest are burnt during
fireworks displays in the evening of March 19.

Mucha gente hace un esfuerzo especial para visitar a su padre

gente lleva ropa tradicional valenciana, particularmente

Easter Fun in the Sun
Good Friday 2013 falls on 29th March, the Costa Blanca will see record
number of arrivals from the UK and other Spanish Cities.
Easter is the busiest time of the year giving the first opportunity
for many Nationals and foreign visitors to head for the sun and
sand. According to a report released on 12th March, the National
Meteorological Institute predicts a good start weather-wise to Easter
Week. Throughout Easter the weather will be warm with clear blue sky
and the sun will be shining, as families pitch up on the beach to enjoy
a day of fun ice-cream, barbecues and ice-cold beers. Thousands of
people descended on the north to enjoy some welcome fun in the
sun. Windbreakers, sunscreen and sports equipment are unpacked
from the hundreds of cars parked around the local streets and car
parks so arrive early if you want a space!
Easter is a time to relax in the sunshine, while friends meet up to
enjoy the time off work and there is no where better to do that than
on the beach away from all of the hustle and bustle of daily life. Over
the next few weeks temperatures will be around 21C to 23C in inland
parts and a bit cooler along the coast.

hotels, apartments and camp the best cuisine, from traditional to
modern cuisine and best agri-food, tourism associations have joined
forces to support and enhance the local catering industry and thus
gastronomic tourism. Under the “ Gastronomic Benidorm 2013 “will
also be held this year several activities and competition. It has been
established and holding contests “ Beer Roll “,” gin and tonics “and”
Seafood and Ice Cream . “ Also will create a blog which contain all
information of events taking place as well as special menus for the
occasion dates

St Patricks Day
Saint Patrick is the patron saint
and national apostle of Ireland. St
Patrick is credited with bringing
Christianity to Ireland. Most of
what is known about him comes
from his two works; the Confessio,
a spiritual autobiography, and his
Epistola, a denunciation of British
mistreatment of Irish christians. Saint
Patrick described himself as a “most
humble-minded man, pouring forth
a continuous paean of thanks to his
Maker for having chosen him as the
instrument whereby multitudes who
had worshipped idols and unclean
things had become the people of
God.”

Cabo Roig Costa Blanca St Patricks
Day Parade. Saturday March 17th
2012
Cabo Roig is turning green for St.
Patrick’s Day, 17th March and hosting a
fabulous parade and party to celebrate
Ireland´s national saint. Last year
parade was the largest in Spain and
this year’s will be bigger, brighter and
even more fun. The strip will turn into
a sea of green for the day, with all the
Bars & Restaurants offering all things
Irish including Food, Drink, Music &
Hospitality together with face painting,
street Magicians, bouncy castles & Irish &
Flamenco Dancers. The parade promises
to be a spectacular and colourful event
with several local & Irish dignitaries
led by Padge Connolly. a TD until 2007
and currently a member of Monaghan
County Council, Irish Pipe band, 2
more marching bands, a cavalcade
of Vintage cars, a huge procession of
Harley Davison motorbikes, ex Irish
army members will be represented,
a pageant of Beauty Queens, a horse
drawn carriage and much, much more.
The local bars and restaurants will be
well represented who together with the
neighbouring urbanisations will join the
parade to add more fun, humour and
colour to this festival of Ireland.
This will be a fun day with something
for all the family with loads of prizes and
giveaways. The parade will commence
between Slievenamon and Bog Road at
3.30 and proceed past the Trinity and
Rianxeria onto Calle Cielo passing Bar
Liquid and Flanagans ending at Cabo
Roig roundabout.
The Town Hall is in full support of the
event and has organised a spectacular
Fireworks display at 10.30 pm. to round
off what will be a memorable day.

surroundings on the way.
Over the years, we have quite literally
taken 1000´s of people “for a ride” and
we have the same happy faces coming
back year after year as they just can´t get
enough and this is due to the quality,
price and enjoyment value of the trips
we have to offer.
We have our “old favourite” and definite
not-to-miss Guadalest, that takes you
back in time to one of Spain´s most
visited mountain villages. The fortified
Village, set high in the mountains just
a short ride from Benidorm, is famous
for many things, not least, it´s miniature
museums and spectacular views. We
appreciate the time you need to explore
here and that´s why we give you almost
3 hours in Guadalest itself before making
our way down through the valley of
Guadalest where we make a stop at the
reservoir, where those who wish, can
take the option of gliding along on the
solar powered boat and enjoying the
village from a different aspect. Our last
stop of the day is at the Costa´s answer
to Beaulieu, as we stop at the famous
motor museum where you can see
one man´s passion for all that moves,
lovingly restored and fully functional.
