Safety Requirements It is a requirement for all riders to be wearing a protective helmet securely on their head. Further safety precautions include goggles, body armour, protective clothing, boots and gloves. In addition to protective clothing, you should always let someone know where you are going and when you expect to return, in case of an accident. Motorcycling with a buddy is also recommended. Penalties Off Road vehicles can only be used on permitted areas or on private land with the consent of the landowner. Fines apply for vehicles being used in non-permitted areas: Section 6 (1) Drive / Ride an off road vehicle in a non-permitted area. Off Road vehicles can only be used on permitted areas or on private land with the consent of the landowner (Please note: noise restrictions may apply, speak with a Health Officer to gain more information 9405 5000). Fines apply for vehicles being used in non-permitted areas. No vehicles (registered or unregistered) are allowed on environmentally sensitive areas such as beaches, foreshores or dunes. Under the Act, an off road vehicle is defined as one not registered for on-road use.
