The

The Dead Rabbit Grocery and Grog
embodies the conviviality of Old New York
and the Irish-American tradition. We are
dedicated to advancing the art and practice
of hospitality, as it was understood then and
as it is understood now, for all residents of
and visitors to this great metropolis.
“ The Dead Rabbit has revived this
time-honored terminology... ”
In eighteenth and early nineteenth century American
taverns, there would typically be three public rooms for
the refreshment of travelers.
The front bar was the Taproom: a busy, rowdy bar serving
beer, wine, and liquor. The Parlor was a more genteel
drinking space in the back, reserved for dignitaries. The
third room was known as the Occasional Room, and was
where clubs and societies held their meetings.
Housed in a landmarked building dating back to 1828,
The Dead Rabbit combines a first-story neighborhood
Taproom serving craft beer, bottled punch, Irish whiskey
and “pop-ins,” with a refined second-story cocktail Parlor
that offers 72 mixed drinks inspired by the period, as well
as communal punches.
With the opening of our third floor Occasional Room for
private events, your guests can now enjoy the same level
of service, surroundings, and unmatched quality of food
and beverage.
Your events may include choices from the Parlor’s famed
menu of historically-inspired cocktails and other mixed
drinks, as well as punch bowl service complete with our
signature porcelain teacups. Highballs, wine, pop-ins, and
bottled beer from the Taproom may also be served.
The Dead Rabbit’s full food menu, inspired by the
British Isles, is available.
The Occasional Room exhibits décor in keeping with The Dead
Rabbit’s nineteenth century atmosphere, inspired by the interiors
of traditional whiskey distilleries. The building’s 200 year old brick
walls and original wooden ceiling beams are exposed. Long-planked
flooring and bottle green upholstery completes the look.
The bar has been specially designed for The Dead Rabbit by Vermont
Islands and Glastender. The brown mahogany finished bar, with
a solid surface allspice bar top, accommodates two bartenders. All
barware and glassware are of top quality and consistent with those in
the Taproom and cocktail Parlor downstairs.
The audio-visual system includes a 1080p high definition video
projector with 75-inch screen, DVD and Blu Ray players, and HD
cable television. The projector accepts HDMI input from a laptop for
displaying business presentations. The sound system is powered by
six Genelec speakers and a Genelec subwoofer system and includes a
mixer and wireless microphone.
The room can be configured to accommodate 65 standing or 45
seated guests.
