Clarification and willingness for compliance of the NCTE (Recognition Norms and
Procedure) Regulations, 2014 and its implementation by all the existing Teacher
Training Institutions.
Dear Sir/Madam,
You are aware that NCTE has notified National Council for Teacher Education
(Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations, 2014 vide Notification No.346 dated
01.12.2014. The Regulations have come into force w.e.f. the date of publication in the Gazette
of India and with the publication of the NCTE Regulations, 2014, the Regulations of 2009 stands
repealed. The New Regulations are applicable in respect of both existing Teacher Education
Institutions and the new institutions intending to offer Teacher Education Programme(s). The
Regulations have introduced some new provisions and have modified some of the provisions in
the Regulations which were in force since 2009. The existing Teacher Education Institutions (TEis)
shall have to initiate appropriate action to adhere to the New Regulations, Norms· and
Standards for various Teacher Education Programmes. An Explanatory Note on implications of
the New Regulations for the existing Teacher Education Institutions is attached herewith for your
reference. You are advised to take the required action at the earliest and intimate the same to
the undersigned within 21 days from the date of receipt of this letter along with the affidavit in
the prescribed format, failing which the revised order of recognition will not be issued and the
recognition granted earlier will become invalid.
