This is our faith, our hope, our belief which takes us to eternity and eternal life. Alleluia! Alleluia! A big welcome goes out on this glorious and magnificent Easter Sunday to our dear parish family and devoted parishioners, seasonal friends and residents, guests of all faiths, and the many other visitors and vacationers who are here today. We thank you for coming to worship with us here at St. Luke the Evangelist in Palm Harbor. Perhaps you are visiting for a short time + or are returning to the practice of your Catholic faith + or are here to find out more about Catholicism + looking for a parish home + whatever the reason we are thrilled you have joined us today. Please consider this your personal invitation to join our parish family in all activities of faith, worship, fellowship and community. For this week’s activities and events, see page six, as well as news flashes and articles placed throughout these pages. “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His mercy endures forever.” Psalm 118:1 In this Jubilee Year of Mercy, there are some who have been away from the Church and/or away from the Sacraments. To those in this circumstance, take this opportunity to come back to your faith. Perhaps it isn’t you, but someone near and dear to you who may be in this circumstance. If so, encourage your loved one to do the same. “Jesus is waiting for us and wants to heal our hearts of all that tears us down. He is the God who has a name: Mercy.” – Pope Francis. In this special Jubilee Year of Mercy, an examination of conscience followed by Confession and Reconciliation, provides many blessings and will do wondrous, amazing works for your spiritual life and eve day living. Much good is received, among them sanctifying grace; guilt will be lifted and removed. Healing will take place in an amazing way. Know that we are here for you. All are welcomed with wide open arms filled with Christ’s love. On this Easter Sunday, when you leave today, take aside some time to meditate on God who has fulfilled all His promises. Let us each be encouraged to find signs of new life in our spiritual lives + and in the lives of others around us. Thank you each and every one for coming to our parish to worship today to celebrate the holiest day of the year. As we are joined with our Risen Lord, let us be renewed and inspired to live out and proclaim the Good News of Christ as we work in unity with all people of God, for it is in this unity that we experience the presence of the Risen Christ. Wishing you a week filled with God, His love and mercy. In this season, strive to grow closer to God; strive to be more like Jesus; strive to live out your faith in all circumstances. God bless you. ~ Father Paul ǁǁǁ͘ƐƚůƵŬĞĂůĚĞƌŵĂŶ͘ŽƌŐ In the Liturgy - Page 3 EXPERIENCE LOVE & ACCEPTANCE BY COMING HOME TO THE CATHOLIC CHURCH T here’s an old saying that goes, “Once a Catholic, always a Catholic.” Maybe you have been away from the Church for a little while or for quite some time, but now you feel a tug at your heart calling you back to the Catholic Church. Listen to that tug. It’s your Heavenly Father reaching his arms out to you, the Holy Spirit whispering in your ear, hoping to draw you home. We hope you accept this as your invitation to rediscover the truth, wonder and mystery of the Catholic faith. As your brothers and sisters in our worldwide Catholic family, we want you back. We’ve missed you, and our Church is not the same without you. Regardless of why you left or got out of the habit of going to Mass, you can always come home and return to the practice of the sacraments and the fullness of relationship with Jesus Christ and the Church he founded. We are Catholic. Welcome home. ST. LUKE PARISH HEALING MASS Scripture Readings for the Week Join us this First Friday, April 1st at 11am for Mass and Anointing of the Sick Prepare and Pray the Word of God Mark your calendars for the next Fridays: May 6 June 3 July 1 August 5 September 2 October 7 November 4 December 2 Jesus is Coming Again – Part 2 Two things are clear in the Bible’s references to Jesus return: 1. No one will know when, where, or how Jesus will return. In Matthew 24:36, Jesus said “But of that day and hour no one knows, neither the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone.” Ever since then, some people have been dedicated to figuring out when, where, and how Jesus would return. 2. In the Revelation to John 19:11-16, we read that Jesus’ second coming will not resemble his first. “Then I saw the heavens opened, and there was a white horse; its rider was (called) ‘Faithfull and True’. He judges and wages war in righteous. His eyes were (like) a fiery flame, and on his head were many diadems. He had a name inscribed that no one knows except himself. He wore a cloak that had been dipped in blood, and his name was called the Word of God. The armies of heaven followed him mounted on white horses and wearing clean white linen. Out of his mouth came a sharp sword to strike the nations. He will rule them with an iron rod, and he himself will tread out in the wine press the wine of the fury and wrath of God the almighty. He has a name written on his cloak and on his thigh, King of kings and Lord of lords.” Thus, the once unimposing baby will return as an allpowerful conquering King who strikes fear into the hearts of his enemies.
