We reserve the right to cancel any activity or program. The City of Elkhorn declares the following policy for residency requirements: A person is considered a resident if the citizen resides within the corporate boundaries of the City of Elkhorn, not the school district or postal city. We make every possible effort to integrate any individual with a disability into our existing curriculum. When necessary and whenever possible, we will provide specialized supervision to accommodate the situation. NOTE: Residents in the Elkhorn Area School District will be considered residents for all programs held at a school facility. REFUND MINIMUM ENROLLMENT All programs are subject to cancellation if minimum enrollment is not met. When this is the case, pre-registered participants will be contacted and be offered a refund or credit to account. We make every effort to avoid cancellations. A person is NOT considered a resident if any of the following are true: A City of Elkhorn business owner that lives outside the City of Elkhorn limits. Residence outside the City of Elkhorn limits: Town of Lafayette, Town of Geneva, Town of Delavan, Town of Sugar Creek. Cannot provide proof of residency when registering for programs. PROGRAM FEES Program fees are due at the time of registration. Failure to make payment on outstanding fees may result in inability to participate in the program. All fees are subject to change. PHOTOGRAPHY We use pictures of participants in brochures and displays to inform others of our recreational opportunities. We will not identify individuals by name. If you do not want a photo taken, please tell the photographer and or instructor. ACTIVITY CHANGES Due to circumstances beyond our control, some activities may require time or location changes. INSURANCE COVERAGE Please recognize that the Elkhorn Recreation Department does not carry medical or hospital insurance for injuries or illness that participants may sustain in programs. Prior to registering, please review your health insurance policy for coverage. Absence of personal health insurance coverage does not make the City of Elkhorn Recreation Department responsible for payment of a participant’s medical coverage. 2016 Fall Refunds will be granted if cancellation requests are five working days prior to the scheduled start of the activity. After an activity has started, a refund will be granted only for medical or unavoidable circumstances. Some type of proof will be required in writing prior to the refund. No refunds for any reasons will be given after the program is 1/4 complete. If the Recreation Department cancels or reschedules a program due to insufficient registration numbers, a transfer or refund will be granted. No refunds will be granted to adult team programs once the league has started, unless cancelled by the Recreation Department. No refunds will be issued for day trips or craft classes because the Recreation Department is responsible for full payment of enrollment totals. SAFETY ISSUES We are devoted to conducting programs or activities in the safest manner possible. However, participants and parents registering their child in recreation programs must recognize that there is an inherent risk of injury when choosing to participate in recreational activities. The department continually strives to reduce such risks and insists that all participants follow safety rules and instructions. Sunset Park - Elkhorn’s premier park - This is the location of our brand new state of the art Sunset Pool as well as the historic Elkhorn Band Shell. The park offers a wide array of recreational activities including: 4 new baseball/softball fields, new swimming pool, picnic areas and 2 playgrounds. The new ADA park is next to the Lions Den and is wheelchair accessible. The Lions Den is our largest and nicest pavilion and available to rent for your private parties. There are bathrooms at this pavilion as well. The Recreation Center is also located at Sunset Park and can be rented for your personal use. Many of the Recreational classes are held at the Rec Center. Registration for activities and parks can also be accessed at the Rec Center between the hours of 8:00-4:30. Location: Devendorf Street, West Centralia Street and Park Avenue. B. Temlitz Park - A nature resource park. The walking path is a great place to enjoy bird watching or a relaxing walk. Location: At the end of Greenfield Street. C. Broad Street Park - This is a neighborhood park where kids can play on the playground or in the sand. Location: Corner of North Broad Street and Second Avenue. D. Tasch Park - It offers a NEW playground next to the NEW T-Ball field. There is a basketball court, and recreational open space for soccer or baseball practice. Location: Centrally located on Lincoln Street. E. Pocket Park - It is perfect to stop and enjoy your coffee or meet a friend. This park is small in nature but able to host the right event if planned appropriately and is the home-base for Oktoberfest every year. Location: This unique area is special because of its hidden nature between the downtown businesses. Lions Den, Sunset Park F. Harris Park - Consists of two baseball and one softball field. The softball field is called Red, and baseball fields are called the Varsity and Colt fields. Harris Park has a concession stand, a pavilion with bathrooms and a playground area, as well basketball hoops that are right next to the school. Night Under the Lights is held at Harris Park the first Friday in June. Location: Between Jackson Elementary and Elkhorn Area High School off of Wright Street. G. White River Bike Trail H. Babe Mann Park - Elkhorn’s largest park sprawling over 34 acres surrounding Elkhorn Lake. Canoeing and fishing are allowed. Swimming is prohibited. Every year a fishing derby is held the first Saturday in June. A covered pavilion is available to rent. Bathrooms, picnic tables, and benches are provided. A onemile trail surrounds the lake for cross-country skiing, hiking, walking/jogging or biking. Location: City Industrial Park on Proctor Drive. I. Rotary Park - Three soccer fields, a concession stand, playground and picnic area. Location: O’Connor Drive off of Hwy 67. J. Market Street Park - Elkhorn’s newest park is located in Harvest Pointe Subdivision. This park features play equipment, walking paths and a shelter. Location: Corner of Market St. and Heather Dr. K. Veterans Park - Plenty of shade trees and a few picnic tables. This is where Scare on the Square is located the 4th Saturday of October as well as Oktoberfest.
