YEAR 9 KNOWSLEY COMMUNITY COLLEGE TRIP
On Thursday 10th December, a group of enthusiastic Year 9
students were invited to spend the morning at Knowsley
Community College. They had a tour of the college and
spent time developing 'employability skills'. They took part in
a number of activities designed to enhance skills such as
communication, motivation, commitment and team working
and won a box of sweets along the way!
The students really enjoyed the morning and were a credit
to Lord Derby Academy.
YEAR 11 MOCK EXAMINATIONS
Well done to Year 11 who have been working hard on their
mock GCSE exams this week. They have approached this
exam season with a positive attitude and a high level of
maturity. Results will be presented formally to students in the
first week back after the Christmas holidays.
Please ensure your child remains focused over the Christmas
break and remember to encourage them to build revision into
their time off, as many of them will be sitting their first GCSE
in English Literature on Monday 11th January.
Thank you, Miss Rogers- Head of Year 11.

Robot Girl by Malorie Blackman
A thoroughly up-to-date take on Frankenstein,
Robot Girl centres around Claire, who is
determined to find out exactly what her father
has been working on in his laboratory.
The results come as an enormous surprise and
hold the potential to leave her father’s reputation
in tatters. How will she avoid catastrophe?
