Session 4, Spring 2016
Welcome to the Wixon
After School Program!
We are very excited to offer a selection of
brand new activities and some old favorites!
Session Three activities will run from April
11th through June 9th. This is an eight week
session, not including vacation week. This is
the last session of the school year!
 All activities, unless otherwise noted, are one hour
long and are held from 3:00 to 4:00pm. Activities
that are listed as two hours are held from 3:00 to
5:00pm.

Busses are available at 4:00pm Monday through
Thursday and 5:00pm Thursday only.

Students may also be picked up at the front lobby
promptly when the activity ends. An adult must
come into the lobby to pick up the student.
Students will not be allowed to walk to cars alone.

If there is a change of plans for pick up, please
send in a note with your student.

All activities are $30. (Two hour activities are $60.)
Checks may be payable to “DYRSD” and must
include your student’s name on the
check. Cash is also accepted, please
secure it to the form.

The sign up form and payment are due
Tuesday, April 5th. All activities are filled
on a first come, first served basis.
FREE PROGRAMS
Cub Scout Webelos Program How would
you like to: Build and race a pinewood
derby car, learn outdoor cooking skills,
develop an understanding of good
citizenship? That’s what scouting is all
about. Meetings will be held on
Wednesdays. If you have any questions
about this special program opportunity, please contact:

Fun With Nature Come join your
AmeriCorps volunteers, Emily and
Kathleen, learning and having fun with
nature on Wednesdays. We will explore
what surrounds us through art and
creativity. This program is presented by
AmeriCorps. Please contact Ms. Dunn at
[email protected] with any questions.

Food Explorers Join us in the Health
room for fun, hands-on activities
while learning about nutrition. We
will create our own after school
snacks and sample them too! This
activity will run Wednesdays for six
weeks from April 13th through May
25th. This program is funded through
Cape Cod Cooperative Extension Service and UMass
Extension Nutrition Education Program. Please contact

questions.
THURSDAY
KAHOOT! Play this fun and
educational quiz game about a
variety of topics with Mrs.
MacDonald. Challenge your friends!
Prodigy Work on your math skills while
playing the fun game of Prodigy with
Miss Slevin. You might even get to test
out a membership! Limit 12 students.
Nature Walk Walk outside, collecting and
exploring nature in the habitat around Wixon
with Mrs. Brembt.
Golf Learn the rules and skills of this
exciting game. All equipment is provided
along with transportation to and from
Dennis Pines Golf Course. TWO HOURS!
Mechanical Drawing Improve your
drawing skills. Create line drawings of gears,
springs, Legos, nuts and bolts with emphasis
on detail, with Ms. O’Clair.
Wiffleball Play fun and active games of
wiffleball outside with Miss Torney. All
equipment will be provided!
Open Gym Play your favorite active games,
design your own or just get some exercise in
the gym with Mrs. Cain.
MONDAY
Arts and Crafts Design and create art
projects such as jewelry, paper mache and
more with Mrs. MacDonald.
Creative Crocheting Learn how to crochet
using a hook and yarn with Mlle. Watson.
Newbies and experts welcome!
Homework Club Need a little extra help
with homework? This is for you! Get help
from Mrs. Borgatti on anything that’s
stumping you!
Paws for the Arts Learn about Therapy Dogs
through arts, reading and writing about our
canine friends with Mrs. Brembt.
Gym Games Play some of your favorite
active games and learn some new ones!
Includes tag games, Doctor Spy, basketball
activities and much more with Miss Mackey.
Floor Hockey Learn the rules and play fastpaced games of floor hockey with Miss Annessi.
Bring your own stick or use one of ours!
Chess! For those seriously interested in this
classic game, but were afraid to learn— now is
your chance with Mr. Brenner! New and
experienced chess players welcome!
Lego Building Club Come build and explore
your creativity designing structures using Legos
with Mrs. Rezendes!
TUESDAY
Prodigy Work on your math skills while
playing the fun game of Prodigy with
Miss Slevin. You might even get to test
out a membership! Limit 12 students.
Lacrosse Learn skills and drills and play
exciting games of lacrosse with Miss
Torney. Bring your own equipment or
borrow ours!
Science Fun Perform fun and interesting
science experiments while learning all about
science in this club with Ms. Castro.
Gardening Work in our community garden
with Mrs. Stecker and enjoy the delicious
results!
Expressing Yourself Through Painting
Color, shades, tints, circles, angles and lines.
A personnel expression with abstraction with
Ms. O’Clair. There are no right or wrong
answers in this class!
American Girl Club Have fun with friends
and share your special dolls or stuffed animals,
and do crafts based on the American Girl series
with Mrs. Brembt.
Note: Theatre will run on the same
schedule that it has been, there is no need
to sign up again.
WEDNESDAY
Dance Learn fun dances, free dance and
choreograph dances with Miss Duffy.
Homework Club Need extra help with
homework? This is the club for you! Get help
from Mrs. Borgatti on anything that’s

Animal Club Are you interested in
animals? Join Mrs. Travers and journey
into adventures with the creatures that
join us on Earth. You will get to meet
some of her special friends!
Story Writing Are you the next JK
Rowling? Let your imagination take flight,
writing all kinds of fun, exciting or silly
stories with Ms. Botaish.
Ancient Greece Do you enjoy Percy
Jackson? Come and learn all about the
Ancient Greeks through pictures and stories
with Miss Annessi.
Softball Learn the basics of throwing and
catching outside with Mr. Brenner, longtime assistant Varsity softball coach at DY!
Bring your own glove, if you have it!
