The motto of the Good Spirit School Division is ‘Students Come
First’. This motto was put into practice recently when the division
announced they would split the kindergarten class for the betterment of
our students. Because of this split, Miss Hough now has a full time
assignment in the kindergarten room.
We are pleased to welcome Mrs. Anna Beynon who has taken over
Miss Hough’s itinerant duties on days 2, 4, and 6. Mrs. Beynon brings a
wealth of experience and knowledge with her and we feel fortunate to
have her as part of our team! Mrs. Beynon’s assignment will be
primarily in the grade 1 & 2 classrooms. Welcome Mrs. Beynon!

As in past years, thanks to the dedication and involvement of Davison School staff, we are
able to offer a number of clubs and activities for our students to take part in at noon hour
and after school. Following are just a sample of the clubs/activities that have already been
organized with more to begin in October.
**CROSS COUNTRY- Cross Country is a short season and always begins soon after the start
of school. Cross Country has been up and “running” at Davison School since the first week
of September. Students from grades 4, 5, and 6 joined the club and diligently practiced
during the lunch hour. Thank you to Mrs. Ball, Ms. Molaro, Miss Senyk, Miss Frick and Mrs.
Unterschute for coordinating and “running” this program.
Our runners attended 3 meets this season. On Friday, September 19 they took part in the St.
Henry’s Invitational Meet, the Deer Park on Monday, September 22 and the Autumn
Summit in Saltcoats on September 26. We want to commend our students for exhibiting
excellent behavior and sportsmanship at all meets. They were also extremely respectful of
the site and made sure garbage and recycling was deposited in the appropriate places. Our
students did their best and achieved some excellent results. Congratulations to all!

CLUBS........
**S.R.C. – Becoming a member of the S.R.C.
teaches cooperation, responsibility and
commitment and these students will
certainly be tomorrow’s leaders. Thank you
to the many students who applied to
become part of the S.R.C. Thank you to
Miss Hough and Miss Senyk who are the
teacher advisors for the S.R.C. Be sure to
watch for a number of initiatives from this
talented group.
**READING CLUB- Mrs. Koval has
spearheaded this club open to students
from grades K through 6 for a number of
years. It encourages children to read
nightly while tracking their reading. Prizes
are awarded when the students have read
for 10, 25, 50, 100, 150, 200, 250 and 300
nights. What a challenge!
**ARTS & CRAFT CLUB – Mrs. Koval, Mrs.
Kreklewich, Miss Hough and Miss Nystrom
will oversee the Arts & Craft Club which
will begin in October. Students in grades 13 are invited to stay after school to make a
craft. The club will meet approximately
once a month and the theme of the project
will usually revolve around a holiday or
special event taking place that month.
**COOKING CLUB - We try to give all
students the opportunity to participate in
activities that take place outside of the
classroom, but because of their age the
kindergarten children sometimes are left
out. To give our little tykes the chance to
join a club, Mrs. Koval, Mrs. Kreklewich,
Miss Hough and Miss Nystrom will
continue with the Cooking Club this year.
This club is open to students in
kindergarten, grade 1 and grade 2. The
club will meet after school to make simple
and fun recipes (usually centered on a
theme). Watch for more information.
Thank you for attending our OPEN HOUSE
on September 24. We trust you had a
chance to visit with the staff, as well as hear
some important information from your
child’s/children’s teachers regarding
expectations and classroom procedures for
the year. We appreciate that you viewed
this as an important information evening
and thank you for attending.
DON’T FORGET ABOUT OUR BOOK FAIR
BEGINNING MONDAY, OCTOBER 6 AND
CLOSING ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 9 AT
NOON. THE BOOK FAIR WILL BE OPEN
FROM 8:30-4:00 P.M. EACH DAY. THE BOOK
FAIR IS CLOSED DURING THE LUNCH
HOUR. DAVISON SCHOOL WILL RECEIVE A
PERCENTAGE OF TOTAL SALES FROM
THE BOOK FAIR IN THE FORM OF
BOOKS FOR OUR LIBRARY! THANKS
FOR YOUR SUPPORT.
