CROSS COUNTRY SEASON ENDS
Our runners enjoyed exceptional weather this season –
unusually hot and sunny for September and early
October! Although the season was short, the students
were committed to daily practice and improving their
endurance and overall times.
The results of the District Meet at Cherrydale on October
8 were as follows:
 Beginner Girls –Lecina G. – 3rd – (8:40)
 Beginner Girls-Drew M.-5th (8:55)
 Squirt Girls – Summer M.– 2nd (10:25)
 Sneaker Girls – Emily Y. – 10th (10:54)
 Sneaker Boys – Carter D. – 1st (9:07)
 Sneaker Boys – Charlie B. – 6th (9:54)
 Wee Pee Boys – Karter F.– 8th (13:00)
 Wee Pee Boys – Tyson K. -9th (13:03)
Once again our runners made Davison proud by the
results they achieved and also by their exemplary
behaviour. Congratulations to all runners!
Coaches Mrs. Waldbauer, Mrs. Ball, Miss Frick, Mrs.
Unterschute and Miss Hickie would like to thank all
runners for always doing their best and working hard.
COOKING CLUB: We know this club is always
anxiously awaited for by the students in
kindergarten through grade 2. They enjoy making,
baking and best of all ‘eating’ their creations.
Thank you to Mrs. Koval, Mrs. Kreklewich and Mrs.
Molnar for inspiring our budding chefs!
ARTS & CRAFTS CLUB: Students in grades 1-3 who
have ‘signed up’ for this club can look forward to
creating many pieces of art – usually centered on
a theme. Thank you to Mrs. Koval, Mrs. Molnar and
Mrs. Kreklewich for taking on the task of this ‘high
energy’ club!
S.R.C. – Becoming a member of the S.R.C. teaches
cooperation, responsibility and commitment and
these students will certainly be tomorrow’s leaders!
Mrs. Molnar and Mrs. Waldbauer are the advisors
to the S.R.C. and we will be watching for a number
of initiatives from this talented group.
GIRL POWER - The ‘Girl Power’ club has proven to
be extremely popular since its inception a few
years ago. Mrs. Waldbauer and Mrs. Unterschute
spearhead this club where girls in grades 5 & 6
have the opportunity to come together to discuss
a number of girl issues and topics. We know the
club will strengthen the girls’ self-esteem and
confidence, as well as empowering them to
become healthy young adults in mind, body and
spirit.
MINI-VOLLEYBALL: Mrs. Fleury, Mrs. Waldbauer, Miss
Frick and Miss Nehring have organized the
students in grades 5 & 6 and they are happily
playing mini-volleyball during the noon hour.
WRITERS’ CLUB: The Writers’ Club is off and writing!
Students in grades 4, 5, and 6 are encouraged to
join this very rewarding club. Over the past years
members of the Writing Club have been
recognized provincially and nationally for their
submissions to various contests and publications.
We are sure this trend will continue under the
tutelage and encouragement of Mrs. Ball.
**If you have a child/children interested in joining
any of these clubs, please have them speak to the
teacher in charge.

In conjunction with Fire
Safety Week, members from the firefighter
program at the Community College visited
the grade 1-5 classrooms at Davison on
October 1. Our students learned the
importance of having a family exit plan in
case of fire, along with a meeting place
once they were out of the building.
Students were encouraged to practice this
plan at home with their parents and
siblings.
Stop drop and roll was another safety
aspect talked about with the students.
TERRY FOX WALK
Thanks to your generous donations, we were able
to submit $432.00 to the Terry Fox Foundation for
Cancer Research. As promised, if the money
raised reached or exceeded $400.00, Mrs.
Wotherspoon would dress in a costume and visit
each classroom to read a story. She carried out
this commitment on Wednesday, October 21 and
Thursday, October 22 during Education Week!
Quite interesting!!
Thank you again to our cross-country team for
leading the walk and to Mrs. Wotherspoon for
being such a great sport!
The fire truck, with all its equipment, was
popular with the younger students as they
learned the purpose of the the equipment
on the truck, as well as the importance of
the protective suits the firefighters wear.

“Celebrating Each Student”
Davison School kicked off Education Week with a flurry of

indeed have BIG DREAMS and we will always encourage them to
strive for their dreams.
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 20 - The Books & Bagels family event was

the Melville Millionaires as a classroom helper for the morning. This
was the first of their weekly visits that will take place each Thursday
when their schedule allows. The students look forward to these weekly
visits from our ‘boys in blue’.
Monday, October 19 was designated as “Bus Driver
Appreciation Day”. Our bus drivers are an integral part of
the education team and we thank them for their
dedication to our students. They are on the road early
each school day providing safe transportation for very
precious cargo and we appreciate the important job that
they do! Hats off to our dedicated bus drivers!

Thank you…thank you…..thank
you…. for supporting the
Scholastic Book Fair. When the
total sales exceed $3 000.00, the
library receives a commission of
60%. We reached this goal and the
commission will be returned to the
library in the form of books. This
enables Mrs. Braun to keep the
library filled with new and popular
books for our students.
Thank you to parents that supported
the teacher’s wish list by
purchasing books to be used in their
individual classroom libraries.
Costume Parade
Please join us at 1:00 p.m. on

CELEBRATE!
The ‘Student of Distinction’ Award, sponsored by the Good Spirit School
Division, was awarded to Kendall Veer at our monthly assembly today (October
28). Good Spirit School Division board member, Mr. Bob Simpson, presented
Kendall with this prestigious award.
Kendall exemplifies all five values of the Good Spirit School Division. She has a
positive attitude, bright smile and a bubbly personality that fills the room. She is
kind, nurturing and compassionate and is always willing to help other students
achieve their goals. Kendall is respectful, responsible, confident and leads by
example.
Kendall takes charge of her learning and strives for academic excellence. She
always gives her best effort in both her school work and the extra-curricular
activities that she is involved in.
She is a passionate dancer and since the age of 8 has danced competitively.
Kendall was one of 20 dancers selected to represent Canada in Reisa Germany at
the World Tap Championships last year where she was the youngest member of
the team.
We are proud of Kendall and the role model she is at school and in our
community. She already has many accomplishments and is truly a ‘rising star’.
It is with pleasure we acknowledge and congratulate Kendall on receiving the
‘Student of Distinction’ award.
