6th June Departed from KLIA..my sweet honey accompanied me
6th June Departed from KLIA..my sweet honey accompanied me with all my kids. I was in the same flight with Prof Pau, Datin Hajibah, Dr Rohana, Dr Erlanie and Pn Jamilah. Long journey...tiring and boring 12 hours to Amsterdam and 2 hours to Prague. Seated with a TNB staff, who was on the way to another conference. Filled up with 007 movie, Mi3 movie and another one movie (I forgot the title)..the rest; sleeping and recharging! 7TH June Arrived at Amsterdam airport early morning and stranded for two hours, waiting for connecting flight to Prague. Together in the same flight was Dato’ Seri Idris Jusoh, former MB Terengganu who was on the way to Boston. At last, departed to Prague with Fokker size flight. Arrived at Prague airport, we took bus to the Diplomat Hotel (Prague 6). With a ticket of 100 korun, it could be used for all public buses, trams and subway trains within 24 hours. Checked in, together with Dr Jamil and Rozaidi Sarawak with one female lecturer. Quite big room for me, a single traveler. Checked in for two days; beyond my budget which is Euro 60 or around RM300 from FRGS grant; the hotel rate is Euro 120. After Zohor, went to Mustek (Prague 1), looking for muslim community area at Politickych Veznu and had lunch at Turkiye Kebab. Strolled for a while; went to State Opera building, national museum, flower yard in the mid‐city...and looking for cheaper and nearer hotel to muslim area..not yet decided! In Prague, I got a small room at the 1st floor beside Hotel Yasmin; claimed as muslim centre for Jumaat prayers (twice because of big numbers of muslim to be occupied) and other religious activities. On the way home, dropped by at Staromstska; visit Charles Bridge or Prague Venice. Found many old buildings, souvenirs centre and more important thing; swarosky shops as reminded by my wife..beloved wife! Went back to the hotel at 8pm. As my first expression, Prague could be considered as a ancient castle city, loving and romantic society (with many many couples holding hand to hand, hugging and kissing everywhere). And Prague has less cars on the roads, no traffic jam (even many passages for walking), and amazingly, the road was shared by cars, buses and trains. Tiring journey but satisfying...came back to hotel at 8pm. 8th June Morning..registered for the conference and went through two morning sessions. Dislike other conferences, we were not encouraged to enter sessions, other than ours. Afternoon, a social visit to Charles University (University of Carolina) at the central Prague. Like a troop, led by ‘the white hair with white jacket’, we visited Charles bridge, central square and shops..walking to the university via passages between buildings. Given a short brief in the University’s hall; for convocation procession. After one hours there, together with Prof Pau, Datin, Dr Roy and Dr Jamil..we headed to Istanbul Kebab for late lunch. Looking for another hotel for next day’s check in, we found a nice apartment‐hotel (Julis) with more affordable rate (Euro 50)..immediately agreed to move out from Diplomat. Evening at the hotel, we had our own ‘picnic’ at the 7th floor’s lobby except Prof Pau...collapsed! And I had a very complete sleep after all...Rice from Dr Rohana, ‘tapau’ed for next morning’s breakfast. 9th June Morning call from Dr Jamil; asking to join a visit to Lapis Crystal Factory...outside town. Picked up by the factory’s Merces, took three hours and came back to the conference for presentation at 11.30am. My presentation was scheduled at 12pm...Juz nice after coming back from the visit, I presented my paper. Afternoon at 1.30pm, checked out and moved to Julis Hotel at the central Prague 1 via subway tube..with huge bags (of ladies’). Checked in at 2pm...getting lunch at Istanbul Kebab and had strolling time with Prof Pau, Dr Jamil and Datin. Had a new experience..looking at the police men catching a pocket picker and pulling him down with rude and hurting hits for more than half hour. Listened to him shouting and crying for help! At 9pm, went down for night viewing of the Prague’s life. There are live and sleepless night life beneath of the buildings…down under meters of the ground floors! 10th June Had breakfast together on top of the roof’s hotel. Started strolling for shopping and shooting photos. Again, lunch at Istanbul Kebab. Afternoon, together with Dr Jamil and Dr Roy headed to Kutna Hora; a preserved place by UNESCO as world’s heritage..an ancient city with one chapel full of human’s bones and skulls. Photos may tell the rest... Evening, coming back from Kutna Hora, straight away to Cerny Most which is the end of Prague’s city. I was told that there is a mosque and a small minority muslim area. It was a big area, nothing indication to help finding the area and came back to hotel at 8pm. Very tiring journey of 5 hours more to Kutna Hora and followed by trip to Cerny Most...but informative, interesting and very much satisfying to know Pragueian’s belief, history and even culture. Had last night chitchatting together Prof Pau, Datin, Dr Roy and Dr Jamil at hotel’s room...yeah! for me, sharing time with high top management people of the university (like Datin said; 4 of senate members) in very friendly and unofficial way...exchanging photos with Dr Jamil too. I’d learnt new vocabs which was Dekuyi (thank you) and prosim (welcome). I bought some souvenirs for my beluved and missed...wife! and kids! Few krystals and T‐shirts... 11th June My last day in the monderful Prague..woke up late again at 4.50am, nearly end of Subuh hurm...packed all things to check out. Had my breakfast together for the last day..at 7.30am. Then, we went for shopping last..juz to finish all ‘korun’s out! Went back to hotel for lunch special maggie..ha ha by chef Dr Roy and Datin Hajibah...fuh! delicious Malaysian taste..with some blueberries, raspberries, cherries and strawberries from Dr Jamil. 12.30..went to airport by taxi for about 1 hours..bye bye Prague! Amsterdam..Rhiphol airport: ‘visiting’ all shops in the airport. Lasly, prayed at multi‐religious meditation centre. How wonderful Islam is? Everywhere! Lasts forever! I believed, anywhere I go, Islam is there! Landed at KLIA at 3pm...local time! Malaysia di Hatiku!
