2015 STMC Alumni Tourney Program
The 18th Annual Alumni Basketball Tournament February 12, 13 and 14, 2015 St. Thomas More Collegiate Alumni Gym STMC ~ A TRADITON OF EXCELLENCE As we sit and play in our beautiful new athletic facility, take a moment to give yourself a well deserved pat on the back. As alumni we have played a huge role in making this athletic facility a reality through our monetary contributions. However, our role in overall life of STMC involves a lot more than the outlay of dollars. Did you know that we have 19 members of the Knights of Old currently working on the STMC staff? Did you know that we have 11 members of the Knights of Old involved as coaches in the STMC Basketball program? It is no secret as to why we are perennial powers at the Provincials with our girls finishing third in the province last year and currently ranked third. And our Boys winning the AAA crown last year and sitting fourth this year! You, the alumni, are a big part of our success on the hardwood. However, in typical STMC fashion, you, the alumni, come to help out in all the programs the school offers from Campus Ministry Programs to Dragon Boating from Music and Drama to Football and Track. STMC has such a great reputation in the community and that is in no small way, thanks to the support of the alumni. Thank you and please, please keep it up!!! Hank Bouwman Thank You! Thank You Very Much! This tourney, now in its 18th year, adds a lot to the history and tradition of STMC. I thank you for coming out and being part of this special event. Remember also, that this tourney is one the Alumni Association’s more significant fundraisers. The monies raised go to help fund the Knights of Old Scholarship and so many other worthwhile projects in the school. I would also like to thank the many individuals who volunteer their time and talents to make this tourney run. The team captains perform such an integral role in managing their teams. It would not happen without you. Thanks to James Borthistle for arranging for the student bench officials and, of course, thanks to the students themselves. Awesome! I also want to thank Jorden Foss and James Garbutt (2001) and the Steel and Oak Brewing Company for being the official beer supplier. Very Nice! Finally a thank you to all those working the hospitality room. Tremendous! James Garbutt (’01) We got spirit! Yes we do! I really want to acknowledge two individuals who stepped up big time. John Spanjers and Dave Dawson have been tremendous. When you see them, say thank you to them. They have been great! Anytime you give thank you’s, I always miss someone and I am sure I have this time! Sorry! The 18th Annual Alumni Tourney is unique in my experience. NO OTHER SCHOOL CAN PULL AN EVENT OFF LIKE THIS! The tourney is tangible evidence of STMC’s unmatched community spirit. We are blessed!
