A short while later, Ash met photographer, Macduff Everton, at an AWoL event. She had found her mentor! "Always having a passion for the arts I grew up with thousands of images in my head, things I had seen and what I wanted to make. I struggled to find a medium because even though the end result was cool and artistic, I was not creating the vision I had in mind: wanting to create surreal images that still looked realistic. I knew I couldn't ever draw these images and started into photography." Ash finished the photography program at Central Washington University, then enrolled at Brooks Institute of Photography. "Brooks opened up my eyes and brought me the knowledge of light and showed me photographers doing similar work to what I so desperately desired to make." "Macduff has been wonderful to work with since I met him at the AWoL Soiree back in the summer. We immediately hit it off talking about photography. His work is dynamic and engaging, and everyone told me he is wonderful to work with. He has been kind and incredibly informative. Going over to his house was a dream seeing how his workflow is set up and watching him go through his different projects. Macduff informs me of different contests or inspiration pieces that pertain to my work. He also sends me his take on images and what would help make it more sellable; an aspect of photography that I am trying to become well rounded with. The insight that he provides has opened up my eyes on a cleaner image and how to be successful as a photographer." https://ui.constantcontact.com/rnavmap/emcf/email/view?flow=view&camefrom=view&agent.uid=1123615888154 12/16 7/12/2016 AWoL Art Buzz in February Photographs by Ash Robinson A Thought For Art https://ui.constantcontact.com/rnavmap/emcf/email/view?flow=view&camefrom=view&agent.uid=1123615888154 13/16 7/12/2016 AWoL Art Buzz in February Send us your favorite art quote! SHARE ART Your Support Makes All The Difference It is because of your belief in what we offer artists and your steadfast support, that Art Without Limits has been able to match Emerging Artists with Professionals in one-on-one mentorships and workshops to help them succeed in https://ui.constantcontact.com/rnavmap/emcf/email/view?flow=view&camefrom=view&agent.uid=1123615888154 14/16 7/12/2016 AWoL Art Buzz in February their chosen art field. Your have made it possible for AWoL to collaborate with other local art organizations to highlight the art of emerging artists in the Mentorship Program at gallery events and exhibits. The only charge for mentorships, is to give back to their mentor, AWoL and pass it on to the next generation of artists. Your support has also enabled us to present a free annual ART CAREER DAY CONFERENCE, which has involved more than 500 young artists, 13-25 years of age. The conference introduces young artists to Professional Artists and Mentors in their field, who encourage and support the students' goals to embark on a career in the arts. We at Art Without Limits would not be able to provide opportunities for artists to live their dreams and become successful without your support. THE BIGGEST HEARTFELT THANK YOU, EVER!
