In toothpaste, precipitated calcium carbonates have the ability to react with monofluorophosphate
salts to inhibit caries. A well-established inverse relationship between calcium and caries exists.
Additionally, calcium carbonate may help neutralize harmful plaque acids, enhance enamel
remineralization, and remove extrinsic stain.

Consider Acala USP Precipitated Calcium Carbonate when oil absorption, polishing properties, or

Procedure: Premix glycerin and gum in main vessel. When uniform, begin adding water
slowly, continue slow mixing until homogenous gel is formed. Premill Phase B ingredients.
Slowly sift powder blend into Phase A under slow agitation. Mix slowly until uniform paste is
formed, and up to 1 hour after. Premix Phase C ingredients. Very slowly mix into batch, to
avoid aeration. Continue mixing to uniformity.

Procedure: Charge Phase A ingredients into main vessel, mixing to uniformity after
each addition. Heat Phase A to 70-75C. Inside vessel mix Phase B ingredients and
heat to 85C. Mix until uniform. Add Phase B to Phase A. Mix at 85C until uniform.
Premill Phase C powders, add to batch; mix to uniformity. Homogenize for 20
minutes, switch to sweep and begin cooling. Add Phase D at 40C, continue mixing.
Fill at R/T.

Kaopolite™ Mica is a naturally occurring muscovite mica offered in a range of particle sizes and
luster effects. It is treated to reduce microbiological content but otherwise is not surface treated
or coated. It can be used where high greater resistance to moisture, heat, light, or chemicals is
needed. Kaopolite Mica offers beneficial rheological properties and, depending on grade, can be
used as a filler and flow agent, or to brighten the tone of colored pigments and to offer decorative
effects.
