University Hospital
Studentenheim Basel, situated at Mittlere Strasse 33, offers accommodation
for 99 students, regardless of their nationality, religion or sex. We are located
close to University and City Center.
The monthly rent ranges from CHF 470 to CHF 600.
Rent of flat and studio on request.

The residence provides 96 single rooms, one small 2 bedroom flat and a
studio adapted for the needs of disabled students.

Standard-Room: Single bed room, circa 12 m2, furnished with bed, mattress, bedtable, wardrobe, shelf, desk, office chair, wash basin with warm
and cold water, wired internet access, ceiling lamp, curtains.
All rooms face to the two court yards.
Shared rooms (with your floor mates): Bathroom (up to four other students), kitchen.
Shared rooms (with all residents): Common rooms providing news papers, games, TV, Beamer, football table; music room with piano and space for
more instruments; study room with wireless internet access; table tennis; court yard garden with lounge and barbecue.
Shared facilities: Launderette, bike parking.

The Genossenschaft Studentenheim Basel was founded in 1962 in order to build a student residence. The first - male - students moved in in 1965, since
1982 we also accommodate female students.
The members of the Board of the cooperative work on a voluntary basis. The residents of Studentenheim elect among them two students as representatives in
the Board; this election takes place during the annual assembly in autumn.
Director of the residence is Ms Sylvia Marelli-Winter.
With its excellent infrastructure, its many possibilities of passing time and with the rewarding mixture of students from all over the world Studentenheim Basel
aims to offer a home base during your stay in Basel. In order for this shared living to work with as few frictions as possible we expect from all our tenants
consideration, respect for the other tenants and our rules and willingness to deal with small everyday duties.

First priority is given to students of University Basel or students of other universities staying in Basel in
the course of an exchange programme.
Depending on vacancy we let rooms to PhD's, to students of other schools and for short stays (for
example to trainees or summer students).
Room requests by email only.
Tenancy offers can only be made after receipt of the completed application form. In general we maintain
a waiting list.
In submitting your application you are not guaranteed to be accommodated.
We recommend early application.

As an expat who arrives in any country for the first time your immediate wish is to live in an accommodation which is clean, affordable, good located and reasonable equipped and which
has other tenants who are also in a similar position as you. Studentenheim Basel manages to offer all of the above and more. It provides a platform for many young students. I have made

Die Schweiz zu entdecken, neue Freunde und Kulturen kennen zu lernen, sich in eine neue Gemeinschaft zu integrieren, das alles beginnt schon im Studentenheim. Ganz automatisch
wird man eingebunden in die internationale Atmosphäre und lernt neue Sichtweisen kennen, die in der Folge das eigene Weltbild mitprägen. Wertschätzung, Entgegenkommen und
Flexibilität werden dadurch weiterentwickelt. Durch dieses Eingebundensein in die Gemeinschaft habe ich mich auch immer wohl gefühlt in Basel, das Studentenwohnheim hat mir Schutz
geboten und eine feste Verankerung. Die Nähe zur Uni, die Architektur des Baus mit seinem Bezug zu englischen Colleges und den beiden begrünten Innenhöfen, empfand ich als sehr

Studentenheim not only lived up to my expectation but exceeded beyond by a considerable margin! The atmosphere inside the Studentenheim is really wonderful. The obvious other
advantage to living there is the fact that one gets to meet lots of other fellow students, from all across the world and they get to mingle and get together, which harbours lots of positive
experiences. I had the chance to meet and get acquainted with so many different people, learn about their different fields of studies as well as their persona and the places they are from.

The Studentenheim Basel is a place of beneficial for all students (international and local). It is one of the few places in Basel where young intellectuals from different cultures meet and
