Waffle stick moulds Create 6 delicious waffle sticks at once. 2 Power / Ready indicators Indicates that the waffle stick maker is on and when correct cooking temperature has been reached. Cord storage Neatly wraps the cord for safe and convenient storage. 3 Using your Snack Heroes™ Waffle Stick Maker Before first use Caution: Do not immerse the waffle stick maker, including the power cord in water or any other liquids. Before using your waffle stick maker for the first time, remove any packaging material and promotional labels. Ensure the waffle stick maker is switched off at the power outlet, then check that the cooking plates are clean by wiping each mould with a slightly damp cloth. Wipe the outside of the waffle stick maker with a slightly damp cloth. 1.Insert the 3 pin plug into a 230/240 volt power outlet and turn the power on ensuring the cord is fully unwrapped from around the base of the waffle stick maker. 2.Allow the waffle stick maker to pre-heat until the green ‘READY’ light turns on. This indicates that the cooking plates have reached the correct temperature for cooking. 3.Lightly spray the cooking plates with a cooking oil spray before use. 4.Add 1 measuring cup of batter to the mould and spread lightly with a plastic spatula to fill the entire shape. Taking care not to scratch the non-stick coating. See figure 1 Figure 1 4 NOTE: Do not overfill the waffle moulds as the mixture will expand when baked. Just ensure there is enough batter to fill the base of the plates, this way you will get a good sized, well risen waffle stick. 5.Gently close the lid and secure the latch. 6.Allow to cook for the time indicated in the recipe. NOTE: As waffle sticks cook, steam may be emitted from the appliance which is normal. 7.To remove the waffle sticks, always use a plastic or wooden spatula. Never use a sharp object or metal, as this will damage the non-stick surface of the cooking plates. Waffle Baking Tips Waffle sticks are a great treat that can be enjoyed by everyone. There are many combinations of batters, icings and decorations which are great for customising your waffle sticks exactly how you like them. Here are some steps to help you achieve mouth watering waffle sticks every time. • Do not open the waffle stick maker during the first minute of baking or the waffles will separate. Completely bake the waffles before removing. • When the waffles are done, the top lid should lift easily. Lift the lid gently, if it pulls, continue cooking for 30 seconds and test again. • When preparing the waffle batter, do not over-mix or the waffles will be tough. Stir the batter only until the large lumps or dry ingredients disappear. • The optimal amount of batter to produce a full shaped waffle, without overflowing, will vary with different waffle batters. • For more evenly spaced waffles; spread thick batters to the outer edge of the moulds using a plastic spatula before closing the lid. Taking care not to scratch the non-stick coating. • To retain crispness, cool the waffles on a wire rack. • To keep waffles hot and crispy, place them directly on the racks in the oven at between 90-120ºC, these will keep for about 20 minutes before they begin to dry out. This is especially good if you want to serve all the waffle sticks at once for a party. • Cooled waffles can be re-warmed and crisped up by popping them into a toaster on the lowest setting, or by returning them to the hot waffle maker. Place them back in the waffle maker on the lower cooking plate to match the moulds and heat for 1-2 minutes, taking care not to burn them. • Cooked waffles freeze well, firstly cool them completely on a wire rack and store them in a plastic freezer bag, separate each waffle with a piece of baking parchment. Frozen waffles can be re-heated in the oven or toaster until hot and crisp. • Always ensure that plates are greased before cooking to make the removal of cooked waffle sticks easy. • Not all 6 moulds need to be filled when using the waffle stick maker. • Cooked waffle sticks can be placed onto plastic lolly sticks or straws to serve. • Gently fold through egg whites to make a fluffy light waffle. • Recipes that contain buttermilk tend to have a thicker batter. • Once steam has stopped billowing out of the waffle maker, wait 1 minute and the waffles will be perfectly cooked. 5 Care and Cleaning To clean your waffle stick maker ensure that the power has been switched off and the plug removed from the power outlet. Allow the product to cool down before cleaning. Wipe the outside of your waffle stick maker with a slightly dampened cloth and wipe dry. The cooking plates in the waffle stick maker are coated with a non-stick cooking surface, therefore little cleaning is required. Simply wipe cooking plates over with a damp cloth. 6 WARNING: Do not immerse the waffle stick maker in water or any other liquid or use abrasive scouring pads, powders or cleaners. Before next use; lightly grease the cooking plates for easy removal of waffle sticks.
