ICWA Builds Bulky Goods Development at The Shops At Ellenbrook
26 May 2015 MEDIA STATEMENT ICWA Builds Bulky Goods Development at The Shops At Ellenbrook The Insurance Commission of Western Australia (ICWA) today announces that it is proceeding with the establishment of a bulky goods precinct in The Shops At Ellenbrook. The Chief Executive of ICWA, Rod Whithear, said there was an undeveloped parcel of land adjacent to the existing shopping centre that had been identified as a prominent site for a bulky goods development. “We are building the bulky goods precinct progressively over part of the 4.3 hectare site”, said Mr Whithear. “We are pleased to announce that 1st Choice Liquor Store owned by Coles will be an anchor tenant in the first phase of the development”, said Mr Whithear. “The City of Swan has granted the development approval for the first stage to proceed, so we are now advancing the Project”. “We have appointed Hames Sharley as the architect and Savills as the project manager. Both have started work already”, according to Mr Whithear. Hames Sharley completed the design for the Stage 2 development of The Shops At Ellenbrook and has recently been awarded the Western Australian 2014 Architect of the Year Award. “We will be going out to tender shortly for builders for the first stage of the bulky goods development”. “We anticipate that the bulky goods precinct will open next year, and consumers will benefit from access to the new precinct and existing shops within the centre”, said Mr Whithear. “The development of the bulky goods precinct represents another step to ensure that Ellenbrook, as one of fastest growing urban areas in Perth, has the facilities to meet all community needs”, said Mr Whithear. Mr Whithear said that the bulky goods establishment was separate to the Stage 3 expansion of the shopping centre that has been planned for some time.
