Spring is right around the corner! Hopefully
you got to get out last weekend to ride, Saturday was beautiful!! I know we are all
ready for some nice riding weather!
Our first meeting at Toby Jacks Steakhouse in Mineola was a success! It was
great to see new faces and have dinner
with friends. March 10th 6:30 P.M. is our next meeting at Toby Jacks again,
join us and enjoy a nice meal and some social time.
Our January and February membership drives were awesome! Welcome to all
our new members! If you haven’t checked out or new Web Site
(loesshillshog.com), please take a few minutes to do so. This is a great place
to check out our upcoming rides, get information about our chapter and check
out our event photos. All our officers emails are available if you have a question or would like to make a suggestion. I’d like to thank all our H.O.G members that showed up for the membership drives, brought treats and shared
your experience with our H.O.G group to potential members. We definitely
have some great people in our club, and I’m excited I get to work with you all!
2016 is off to a great start! We have had breakfast, lunch and dinner at different places around the the area: Catfish Lake, Summer Kitchen in Bellevue,
Whips in Sydney and had some gaming fun at Dave and Busters in Omaha!
We have more fun planned including a lunch picnic ride and an Ice Cream run
to LeMars!! Don’t miss out on Blue Bunny and Famous Bob’s Dogs!
Our Web Master, Timm deserves a huge Thank You for working hard on updating our website, he has done a great job!!! If you see Timm in our meetings or at an event, please tell him thank you! Remember to sign up for our
texting notifications (text message: LOESSHILLSHOG to: #84483), we promise
not inundate you with texts, but alert you when most appropriate. Also, like our
FaceBook Page Loess Hills HOG Chapter #3659, If your going to attend an
event please check “going” so we can get a head count for the ride.
I’m so excited to get this riding season going!!! My goal for our chapter is to
ride and have FUN!!!
Four Wheels move the body, Two wheels move the soul!!!

Chapter #3659
Assistant Director
Hello March and hello warmer weather! Ok, so maybe just for a day or two we
were spoiled with sunny and 60s but I’ll take what I can get.
The Assistant Director position is new to me this year. I’ve held a few different
positions in a HOG chapter. What this position’s main area to support is keeping chapter
members informed of H.O.G. programs. One of the programs revolves around State HOG
Rallies.
Linda
Westerhold
I looked up information on Iowa’s State HOG Rally and the local chapters in Iowa
did not get a chance to put one together for this great state of ours. It does take a lot of
planning, coordination, time and effort to assemble a successful rally. There are a few
rallies in our neighboring states, as well as a number of really cool destination rides if you
want to put some miles under your belt this year. Below are a list of some that seemed
interesting to me, but for more information on these, you can visit the H.O.G. Member
events on the national hog site.
March 31st – April 2nd Louisiana H.O.G. Rally Shreveport, LA
May 12th – May 14th Texas H.O.G. Rally in Denison, TX
June 9th – June 11th South Dakota H.O.G. Rally Watertown, SD
June 23rd – June 25th Colorado H.O.G. Rally Telluride, CO
July 13th – July 16th Maine H.O.G. Rally Bangor, ME
July 14th – July 16th New York H.O.G. Rally Alexandria Bay, NY
August 25th – August 27th Missouri H.O.G. Rally Osage Beach, MO
Many of the State and National HOG rallies require you to register in advance so they can
prepare for the appropriate number of activities for the number of people wanting to
attend.
Hopefully you get a chance to see what a State H.O.G. rally is all about at some point in
your future travels. There are a lot of great places to see and smooth roads to enjoy and
your State Rally headquarters would be a good place to explore some of the lesser known
jewels found in local areas.
Ride safe and keep the wheels sunny side down…

Woot Woot! Spring is around the corner! With the nice weather, it’s
been awesome to get the bike out some!!
After attending several membership drives, one of the comments
that I hear frequently from women riders is that they are nervous
about riding in a group, being pressured to ride outside their comfort level or dropping their bike. It wasn’t that long ago, I did my
first group ride. I was nervous about keeping up with the group, am
I going too slow, or what if I drop my bike. The nice thing about riding with the chapter is that you ride your own ride. Everyone from
the women to the men are encouraging and very supportive. All
you have to do is just mention that you’re a little nervous and you’ll
get all the encouragement you need to feel comfortable. We all
were new riders once! Should you drop your bike, there are plenty
of members that will help pick it up
for you and make sure that you are ok. The important thing is that
you are enjoying the ride and having fun! We are very fortunate to
have so many women riders in the Loess Hills HOG Chapter!
Safe riding everyone!

LOH (Ladies Of Harley)
Ladies of Harley had a
great time at Too Hot Tomatoes in Sidney, Iowa in
early February! All who
participated painted a motorcycle. It was so much
fun to see everyone's personalities blossom in their
works of art. And little did
we know, we have a professional in our midst, ask
Miss "Dixie" next time
you run into her!
Upcoming in May, on
May Day we will be at the
Ambassador Home in Sidney, Ia. We will be doing
a little "Bike TLC". We
plan on having punch, tea,
and cookies, visiting with
the residents and polishing
fingernails and giving
hand massages! We feel
this is a way that we can
give back to our community in a small way. We
will get together the day
before to make May baskets to give to each one.
We
hope that you can join us
for the making of the baskets and visiting at the
home! There will be a Facebook event posted
ahead of time with all the
details and a way for you
to let us know if you are
able to make it.
Reminder........" Ladies of
Harley " is for all ladies,
operating your own bike
or a lady who rides with
someone else. I myself am
a rider with my husband
Todd. I love to be able to
set back and let him do
the driving and just be
along for the ride. But I
have decided to learn to
ride my own bike
too.....I'm a little nervous,
but excited to learn the
ways of the road on a Harley!!! I am registered in
the first class at Loess
Hills Harley in April. I
will let you all know
about my crazy endeavor!
Just know I am not giving
up my seat with my husband. It is just too much
fun!
Please feel free to let me
know if you have something that you would like
to have the Ladies of Harley do. I would love to
hear from you with any
ideas!!!

Officer

Chapter #3659
Safety Officer
Spring weather has already hit and some have already taken the
bikes out. It's a great feeling to get the bikes out in February but
it's also one of the most dangerous times. Everyone is extremely
excited about the weather but remember the people in cages
are not thinking the same thing we are, they are not expecting us on the roads with them. Like always watch out for them
make sure they see you.
The other part that makes this the most dangerous is the road
conditions. Sand on the roads and very large pot holes. Make sure you keep an eye
out for them. One of the things I did during the winter is ride the roads I know are
safe. If I know the weather is going to be great I will pre-drive the route in my car first.
If the road is filled with pot holes I will avoid the area.
Please remember to perform your check list before you head out.

HEAD ROAD CAPTAIN
Jim Miller
[email protected]
Hello everyone, with warmer weather coming we will start having
planned rides and will need road captains to lead those rides. I have
heard from some members that are willing to help out with that but if
anyone else would like to lead or sweep some rides please let me know.
There is no special training to be a road captain just be willing to help
out when you can. You will not necessarily need to plan the rides but if
you have ideas for a good ride that is great as well. If you would like to
help out just email me your name and I will contact you and let you
know how to get signed up for the text message group.
We have a chapter mileage program that we give awards for at the annual Christmas party. The top three women and men riders will receive
gifts cards. Others that are not in the top 3 will receive an entry in a
drawing for every 1000 miles they ride and then names will be drawn
for additional prizes from those names. If you participated last year I
already have your mileage but if you did not just send me an email at
[email protected] with a picture of your odometer
with the mileage displayed and I will get your name added.
If you have not heard there is a national mileage program that is part of
having your national membership and with that you can earn pins and
patches. To participate you need to fill out a mileage form and have it
endorsed by the dealership, I will have some of these forms at the next
meeting if anyone is interested.
Hope so see everyone on their bikes soon.
Thanks
Jim
