Dear Meadows Families,
The Madison Governing Board believes that it is the right of every student to be educated
in a positive, safe, caring, and respectful learning environment. The Board further believes
a school environment inclusive of these traits maximizes student achievement, fosters student personal growth, and helps students build a sense of community that promotes positive participation as members of society. To assist in achieving a school environment based
on the beliefs of the Governing Board, bullying, harassment, or intimidation as defined by
this policy will not be tolerated.


Bullying: repeated acts over time that involves a real or perceived imbalance
of power with the more powerful child or group attacking those who are
less powerful. Bullying can be physical (pushing, hitting, kicking, spitting);
verbal (threatening, taunting, name-calling); or psychological (exclusion,
rumors).

At Meadows, we investigate all allegations of bullying, harassment, and intimidation. Please help us in keeping our school a
bully-free zone.

Talk to your child about appropriate behavior with other peers. Model and encourage that behavior.

Encourage your child to talk to you honestly about experiences at school and to share any concerns with administration.

Tell your child to speak up for him or herself and others; never encourage a bully.

Do not allow students to have Facebook or other social media devices.

Go over the definitions of bullying, harassment, and intimidation with your child. These terms should be used factually,
no to threaten another with consequences.
Help us eradicate inappropriate behavior at Meadows. When schools and parents work together, good things happen for our
children.
With Ram Pride,
Susan Doyle, Principal

IT’S HOT, HOT, HOT!!!! It is so easy to get dehydrated and as the temperatures go up our fluid intake needs to go up as well. Headaches is a common complaint for school aged children in the Nurse’s
office, so remind your students to drink more water.
DRESS CODE: Please go over the dress code policy with your student and monitor what they are
wearing. The summer tops and shorts are so very cute- but many are not OK to be worn at school.
The Nurses office is very busy and added students in for dress code issues prevents them from getting
back to class in a timely manner. All clothing must be washed/dried and the violation slip signed by a
parent and THEN the student may take their clothing home.
SICK CHILDREN Please DO NOT send your children to school if they are sick. This causes illnesses
to spread . We have a lot of children at our school with a lower immunity to fight off illnesses. All
children must be home for 24 hours with no diarrhea, vomiting and /or a temperature.
MEDICATION PICK-UP: Please pick up any medication from the Nurse’s office the last few days of
school. Any medication not picked up will be discarded the following week.
Item of the Month Sanitizing wipes, Sanitary pads, Kleenex

All of our Spring Sports are in the Valley Athletic Conference Play-off picture at this time. In fact, Varsity Baseball
and Softball are undefeated 8-0 at this time. They both need to win their final 2 games to win the East Division and
enter the playoffs with the top seed. If we win the East Division, Meadows will host the 1st round play-off game.
Meadows will host the VAC Baseball Championship. Our JV Baseball team is also undefeated and our JV Softball
team has only lost 1 game. They are both in the JV play-off hunt. Dates/times and location will be announced. The
Track team has had several strong competitors and relay team performances in their first 2 practice meets. The
VAC Track Meet is coming up on May 1st and 3rd at Trevor Browne H.S.
BANNERS
New Sponsorship Banners are up on the Meadows Varsity Baseball/Softball fields. A few
more are on their way! Thank you very much to the Meadows Athletic Boosters and the
PTM for their support!
Thank You to all the students, parents and Meadows staff for their continued
support of the Meadows Athletic Program.

S PRING F UNDRAISER
TOTALLY RADICAL Spring FUNdraiser. It was 80’s Night...oh what a night!
About 100 Meadows parents, grandparents, and faculty attended. If you
missed it this year, we hope you can make it next year!
Final numbers are still being tallied….but we can say over $10,000 was
raised for Meadows...that’s like, totally awesome!!!
A big thank you to BJ & Leah Dines for hosting the event at their home. And
a second thank you to committee chair Leah Dines for planning and organizing a stellar event.
Leah was assisted by committee members Julie Peterson, Deb Hinds,
Jennifer Funke, Kim Conklin, Kari Blakley, Chris Goodfarb, Holly Keeble,
Nancy Stouffer, BJ Dines, Kim Hunter, Julianne Desmond, Trish Bigler,
Leeann Spangler, Tina Shuquem, Cathy Robbins and Patty Wubker.
BJ Dines and Joel Robbins made the rounds selling 50/50 raffle tickets...
Chris Goodfarb won a cool $436!
THANK YOU to everyone who donated/solicited items, purchased tickets,
and bid on the awesome auction items.
Snack Shack Needs Volunteers
We need parent volunteers for to staff Snack Snack during RAMMS baseball/softball games
for the EVENING SHIFTS. We are asking parents to volunteer to work in the Snack Shack
with their child (and a second student helper). Monies raised by the Snack Shack help support PTM and a designated monthly group (March is Camp Friendly Pines). Also, when you
volunteer with your child, he/she gains community service time.
Please be aware that a parent has to be present in the Snack Shack at all times! Please do
not ask if your child can sign up without you. This is really a lot of fun and great bonding time
with your kids and we try to keep it simple and easy.
To volunteer, email Raleigh Dombeck at [email protected] with DATE (& time if on Saturday) + FIRST & LAST
NAMES OF PARENT & TWO STUDENT HELPERS and PREFERRED
EMAIL ADDRESS. If you are volunteering for Saturday or evening shift,
please include a cellphone number. He will confirm receipt of your email
and let you know if you received your preferred shifts (first come first
serve). A reminder email will be sent to you the weekend prior to your
shift with the "Procedures" for working the Snack Shack.

5 de Mayo
Cinco de Mayo is an occasion of ethnic pride celebrated throughout Mexico and the United States. Cinco de Mayo
marks a victorious battle that took place in Puebla, Mexico. There 4,000 brave Mexican soldiers triumphed over
twice as many French fighters on May 5, 1862.
Today Cinco de Mayo is a joyous holiday celebrated with food, fun, and parades. Typically held during the first week
of May, Cinco de Mayo springtime events include carnivals, street fairs, and multi-day festivals across the U.S.
The best and most authentic Cinco de Mayo celebrations occur in locations with the highest concentration of Mexican
people. Similar to St. Patrick's Day and Columbus Day, Cinco de Mayo is one of those special times when everyone
feels a little bit Mexican in their soul.
