Health-Care Reform Made Understandable at
March Member Meeting
Kevin Cassidy, Regional Director of Blue Cross and Blue
Shield of Illinois joined over 40 CASMI members at the
March Member Meeting to discuss the Health-Care Reform
Act implemented by the Obama administration.
Cassidy’s presentation provided detailed information about
the factors that impact health insurance premiums and
the reasons behind the rapid rise in costs. Also discussed
were the provisions of health care reform that are now in
effect and their impact on businesses, tips for assuring
compliance without going broke, and an estimated timeline
for implementation of the plan’s remaining provisions.
The presentation spurred lively debate about health-care
reform and controlling costs and was very well received by
those in attendance. Comments overheard indicated that
Cassidy’s presentation had provided more information with
more clarity than other similar past presentations. CASMI
is hoping to invite Cassidy back for an update in 2012.
