U. P. Whitetails of Marquette County consists of approximately 475
members from Marquette and surrounding counties. The organization
is dedicated to the education of the public on issues related to the
scientific management of the Whitetail Deer. We promote and
encourage safe hunting practices, the ethical harvesting of the
resource, and cooperative partnership with other outdoor sports
organizations.. We are actively engaged in ongoing interaction with
the DNR and Natural Resources Commission on issues important to
the public in conservation and wildlife management areas.

3. Entries of Horses and Livestock One wristband will be given for each
exhibitor. Additional 4-day wristbands may be purchased for $15.00.
4. Mud Draggers Two daily passes will be given for each entry. You may not
enter the fair from the pit area, but must go around to the front gate for admission to
the fair. Passes will be issued by event officials at the time of entry. Event officials
will be given wristbands.
Camping Guidelines & Reservations
Camping on the fairgrounds is a privilege allowed only
to concessionaires and stalled livestock exhibitors.
1. At least one adult (a person 21 years or older) shall be present
at the campsite to supervise minors.
2. Camping fees will be for the duration of the fair; $40.00 with
electricity and $20.00 for rustic.
3. Payment of camping fees does not entitle persons to enter the
fairgrounds without paying the gate admission fee. One free
wristband per paid camp site.
4. Camping reservations must be paid 10 days prior to the opening
day of the fair.
5. Horse/livestock trailers to be parked in designated area.
6. All dogs must be contained at campsite.
7. No more than 2 vehicles at campsite
8. No skateboards or bikes.

Membership is open, and restricted to residents of Marquette County. Unless a
residency waiver is approved by the board of directors at a regular meeting.
Adult Membership: Age 21 or older - Youth Membership Under 21
By qualifying for and accepting membership in the Marquette County Fair
Association I agree to accept and comply with the terms of the association
by-laws as last amended on March of 2011. I further state that my desire to
become a member is to act in the best interests of the fair, the association,
its membership, and its stated mission.
ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP DUES ARE $2.00 Membership dues must
be fully paid ninety days prior to the annual meeting to be eligible for voting privileges at the meeting, (Any adult member with dues in arrears for
a period of 90 days shall be suspended. Voting privileges at the annual
meeting be suspended also) Voting privileges shall be enacted after being
a adult member of the Association for a period of 1 year with service to the
fair. Inaugural members (Year 2011 members) being the only exception of
6 months. (The Annual Meeting is held in November)
Any association member whose dues is paid before the end of the 2011 fair
shall be considered a "Charter Member of the association, and have it so
noted on their membership card. Dues paid during or after the current year
fair will be considered paid in full for the remainder of the current and the
upcoming year.
Association members are not required to, but are welcome and encouraged
to attend regular monthly board of director meetings to provide input and
feedback. Association members are further encouraged to serve on both
standing and project committees throughout the year.

RULES AND REGULATIONS
Entry Deadline August 1st
1. Entries are open to the world.
2. Use the same exhibitor’s number in all departments.
3. All indoor entries must be entered on Wednesday, August 10 from 4 p.m. until 8
p.m. Entry Deadline by August 1st.
4. Competition is open to anyone between 9 years of age through the person's 19th
birthday. Fair age is the exhibitors age on January 1 of the year of the fair. Except
in Department 11, 13, Small Animals and Poultry, where there is no age limit, and
Department 100 (8 and under).
5. Entries on display in the building, including all animals cannot be removed before
6:15 p.m. on Sunday. The exhibit stub must be presented to the clerk to pick up
each entry. If removed before this time, premium money will be forfeited.
6. One entry per class except where permitted.
7. Articles must be current year products, completed during this year.
8. All reasonable precautions will be taken to protect exhibits. The Fair will not
be responsible for loss or injury of same.
9. The management will use diligence to insure the safety of livestock and articles
entered for exhibition or display after their arrival on the grounds but under no circumstances will it be responsible for loss, injury or damage by theft, fire, lightning,
wind or by any other agency, to such livestock, article on exhibition or display, and
the Fair and management thereof shall be held harmless by the exhibitors against
all legal or other proceedings relating thereto.
10. The Fair Board reserves the right to reject exhibits deemed unworthy (i.e., workmanship, cleanliness, etc.)
11. A premium ribbon or sticker placed on the exhibit is no guarantee of award.
It is governed by the records on the judges’ books.
12. The Marquette County Fair reserves the right to pro-rate premiums if funding
is not received from the State of Michigan or if fair receipts are insufficient
to pay expenses.
13. The management reserves to itself the sole and absolute right to settle disputes and
misunderstandings arising out of premium awards or any phase of enterprise of the
Fair without claim for damages. A formal protest by an agricultural exhibitor, or
others against a placing shall be filed no more than 24 hours after the placing is
made. Any protest must be accompanied with written statement detailing specific
problem and a $25.00 deposit. The complaint will be sent to MDA within 45 days.
14. In the event of a conflict between general rules and those in a department, the
special rules take precedence.
15. There will be a $20 fee for re-issue of any lost or mutilated premium checks.
16. Unless otherwise stated, ribbons received are 1st - Blue, 2nd - Red & 3rd - White.
17. An official photographer shall be present on the grounds during the Fair. The
Marquette County Fair reserves the right to use photographs of champions,
reserve champions and other exhibitors for publicity or advertising purposes
of the Fair without compensation to the exhibitor.

in Michigan
Summary

The following is a summary of the health requirements for livestock exhibited in
Michigan. The complete set of requirements can be obtained by downloading them
from the Michigan Department of Agriculture website www.michigan.gov/mda-exhibitinfo or by contacting the fair/exposition staff or livestock entry office.
Livestock means those species of animals used for human food and fiber or those species
of animals used for service to humans. Livestock includes, but is not limited to, cattle,
sheep, new world camelids (llamas, alpacas, vicunas, and guanacos), goats, bison,
privately owned cervids, ratites (cassowaries, kiwis, ostriches, and emus), swine, equine,
poultry, aquaculture, and rabbits. Livestock does not include dogs and cats.
GENERAL
Exhibitors at state, county, and district fairs, along with other livestock exhibitions, expositions, and shows are required to comply with all statutory and regulatory provisions of the
State of Michigan relating to animal health outlined in Act No. 466 of the Public Acts of 1988,
as amended, the Animal Industry Act, and rules promulgated for the implementation and
enforcement of the act.
1. A fair shall have an accredited veterinarian on call whenever there are animals on the
premises during the fair. A fair, exhibition, exposition, or show authority shall do all of
the following as described herein:
a. Notify exhibitors of health tests and certificates required for importation and exhibition
in this state.
b. Examine and approve required health certificates, reports, test charts, certificates, or
other required documentation before displaying, exhibiting, or stabling the animals in
the
exhibition area or before commingling with other animals.
c. Notify exhibitors whether or not poultry vaccinated against Infectious Laryngotracheitis (ILT) are allowed in the fair, exhibition, exposition, or show.
d. Assure that all participating equine test negative for Equine Infectious Anemia (EIA).
2. Livestock with clinical signs of infectious, contagious, or toxicological disease shall be
removed from the fair, exhibition, exposition, or show or, by permission of the director,
shall be isolated on the premises.
3. Livestock that have known exposure to, or that show clinical signs of, infectious,
contagious, or toxicological disease as determined by a veterinarian shall not be displayed or housed at a fair, exhibition, exposition or show unless permission to do so is
granted by the director. The fair, exhibition, exposition, or show authority is responsible for ensuring that the livestock are removed from the premises.
4. A fair, exhibition, exposition, or show authority may require additional testing or vaccination of animals before entry and during the fair, exhibition, exposition, or show.
5. A bird shall not be handled except by the exhibitor, attendant, fair veterinarian, director, or judge after the bird is placed in an exhibition coop.
5a. Starting March 1, 2007, all cattle moving to a show, sale, or exhibition are
required to have an official radio frequency identification device (RFID) ear tag.
Exhibitors may call NorthStar Cooperative at 888-203-3398 or the National Holstein
Association at 1-800-952-5200 to order RFID tags at a cost of $2.00 per tag.
5b. For all Indiana cattle exhibited in Michigan, official RFID ear tags can be ordered
by calling Vickie McCune with RJ Matthews Company at (330) 834-3000, extension
2013, or by calling Amy Bledsoe with the Indiana Animal Health, Inc. at (219) 2792378.
6. All goats, sheep, and privately-owned cervids shall bear official identification before
they leave their home premises.
7.It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to ensure that all requirements for testing,
identification, and official interstate health certificate or official interstate certificate of
veterinary inspection are fulfilled prior to importation and that proof of fulfilling these
requirements is provided to the director, fair, exhibition, exposition, or show authority
upon request.
8. Upon request, a person who exhibits livestock shall present for inspection all reports,
test charts, and appropriate health certificates required to accompany the livestock.
9.Out-of-state livestock for exhibition shall meet the requirements prescribed for importation of breeding animals of that species, and shall be accompanied by a copy
of an official interstate health certificate or an official interstate certificate of
veterinary inspection issued by an accredited veterinarian from the state of origin.
Livestock shall not be diverted to a premises other than the destination site named on
the official interstate health certificate.
10. Whenever an official test is conducted, or an official vaccination is administered, livestock shall, unless exempted by the director, be permanently identified in a manner
approved by the director.
11. Unless otherwise approved by the director, a facility for exhibition of livestock shall
be constructed to allow sufficient separation of each exhibitor's livestock. The facility
shall be constructed of a material that can be adequately cleaned and disinfected.
12. An exhibition building or yarding facility shall be cleaned and disinfected with an
United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) approved disinfectant used in accordance with label instructions before livestock are admitted by removing from the
premises all manure, litter, hay, straw, and forage from pens, runways, and show rings
and thoroughly disinfecting walls, partitions, floors, mangers, awarding facilities, and
runways in a manner approved by

13. Feed and water containers provided for exhibition coops shall be new or properly
cleaned.
14. A feed or water container from which a bird has eaten or drunk shall be refilled in such
as manner as to prevent contamination of the common supply of feed and water. A
feed or water container may not be removed from an exhibition coop except for the
purpose of cleaning.
15. An exhibition coop shall be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected before and after each
exhibition.
16. Primary enclosures and stall areas shall be constructed and placed to provide adequate light for proper inspection for evidence of transmissible diseases.
17. Cage litter and bedding shall be clean and shall be replaced daily, or as often as
needed.
18. A shipping crate used in the shipment of birds by common carrier may not be used
as an exhibition coop. Shipping crates shall be cleaned and disinfected on the day of
arrival after the birds have been removed for exhibition and before being used again.
Unless otherwise necessary, shipping crates shall not be stored in the exhibition area.

The following is a summary of the health requirements for livestock exhibited
in Michigan. The complete set of requirements can be obtained by downloading
them from the Michigan Department of Agriculture website www.michigan.Qov/
mda-exhibitinfo or by contacting the fair/exposition staff or livestock entry office.
Out-of-state livestock for exhibition shall meet the requirements prescribed
for importation of breeding animals of that species and shall be accompanied
by an official interstate health certificate or an official interstate certificate
of veterinary inspection issued by an accredited veterinarian from the state of
origin. Livestock shall not be diverted to a premises other than the destination site
named on the official interstate health certificate.
If vesicular stomatitis outbreaks have occurred in the state of origin within the
past 30 days, the following statement must be included by the accredited veterinarian on any official interstate health certificate or official certificate of veterinary
inspection for importation of equidae, cattle, sheep, goats, bison, New World
camelids, swine, or privately owned cervidae into Michigan:
"/ have examined the animals listed on this certificate and have found no
clinical signs of vesicular stomatitis. To the best of my knowledge, these
animals have not been exposed to vesicular stomatitis within the previous
30 days, nor have they been vaccinated with vesicular stomatitis vaccine."
All cattle, goats, and bison of any age and reproductive capability, unless
transported directly to a USDA inspected slaughter facility, must be identified
with a USDA approved official identification eartag, or official breed registration
tattoo, prior to importation. An official breed registration tattoo may only be used
if the animal is accompanied by the official breed registration certificate during
the movement. The official identification must be recorded on the required official
interstate health certificate or official certificate of veterinary inspection.
Dairy cattle, breeding cattle, feeder heifers, horses and other equidae, breeding swine, feeder swine, market hogs, llamas, alpacas, privately-owned cervids,
aquaculture, and wild animals for exhibition originating outside the state of Michigan shall meet the requirements found at www.michigan.gov/mda-exhibitinfo by
contacting the fair/exposition staff or livestock entry office.

Guidelines for
Youth Small Animal Projects
1. The Marquette Co. 4-H and youth small animal committee shall consist of any and
all interested members and leaders of the small animal clubs who carry organized
projects.
2. The meetings of the small animal committee will be scheduled as deemed appropriate by the membership.
3. Marquette Co. youth small market animals shall be: Pen of 3 Market Chickens,
Pen of 3 Market Rabbits, or 1 Market Turkey.
4. All market animals will be sold in the following order. Grand champion animals of
each species first, then the reserve animal of a species followed by the remainder
in judged order. The judge will determine sale order.
2011 - Chickens, rabbits, turkeys
2012 - Rabbits, turkeys, chickens
2013 - Turkeys, chickens, rabbits
5. All small animal market projects must include a completed record book to be
turned in to the superintendent by 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. (A copy of this record
book can be used to meet the requirements of Poultry/rabbit showmanship . . .
Copy of which will be turned into the "small animal barn superintendent.)
6. Record books must be started on the day chicks arrive or the day the doe rabbit
is bred.
7. All small animals must remain on the fairgrounds until close of fair.
8. All exhibitors are responsible to butcher and properly prepare, and deliver
the meat to the buyer within one week’s time.
Market Chickens
1. Market chickens shall be purchased approximately 8-10 weeks before the starting
date of the fair.
2. The small animal committee will approve the vendor and/or breeder for market
chickens and MUST be listed on record books, along with the date of purchase.
3. Pullets or cockerels are approved for this project.
Market Rabbits
1. All market rabbits must come from a doe owned and bred by the exhibitor.
2. Youth market rabbits must consist of a pen of three rabbits, from the same litter,
not over 69 days old and between 3 and 5 pounds, by fair time.
Market Turkeys
1. Market turkeys shall be purchased approximately 15-20 weeks before the
Marquette Co. Fair.
2. The vendor and/or breeder for market turkeys MUST be listed on record books,
along with the date of purchase.
3. Toms or hens are approved for this project.
4. All turkeys will be leg banded by the owner upon arrival at the fair grounds, and
recorded with the superintendent.
Small Animal Auction - Saturday
Following Junior Livestock sale in the Livestock Barn
Guidelines:
Livestock RULES
1. The livestock department committee shall be made up of the following: Fair
president and/or fair board member, 4-H livestock leader/s, livestock superintendent and one teen representative.
2. Market Animal Exhibitors must be Marquette or Alger county residents.
Competition is open to anyone between 9 years of age through the person's 19th
birthday. Fair age is the exhibitors age on January 1 of the year of the fair.
3. Steers must be purchased and on feed at least 205 days before sale date. Steers
must be born after January 1 of the previous year. Lambs and hogs must be
purchased and on feed at least 90 days before the sale date. The Marquette
County Fair shall appoint a weigh in person(s) and he or she shall be the same
person for all animals within the species. All animals are expected to be properly
restrained for the weigh in.
4. Pre-Entry Dates for market livestock must be sent to livestock superintendent by: Beef - March 1st and Swine and Lambs June 1st.
5. Beef members may start with no more than two steers. Sheep and swine may
start with a pen of three lambs or hogs. Only one animal of each species may
be shown or sold. All animals will be tagged or tattooed at the weigh in time.
NO stags, warts, or horns over one inch will be permitted.
6. All breeding stock market animals, poultry, rabbits and pet stock MUST be
preregistered with the fair by August 1st.
7.NO replacement will be made in case of death of an animal after the weigh in
unless an alternate animal is in the possession of the member and weighed in
as of the weigh in dates. Replacement by an alternate animal may be made up
to the final weigh in at the fair.
8. All project animals shown in market classes will be made available to sell.
9. The purpose of the livestock project is to have a member become knowledgeable
about feeding, breeding, raising and handling livestock. The show and sale at the
fair is the end result. Any animal whose feeding and training has been neglected
cannot be shown.
10. The judge has control over all exhibitors while they are showing. Anyone not
able to control his or her animal to the satisfaction of the judge will be asked to
leave the showing for the safety and respect of the other exhibitors.
A committee made up of at least three of the people listed in the first guideline
reserve the right to visit the member's farm sometime in the two weeks before
the fair to observe the member handle and lead his animal unassisted. The
committee will decide at the time if it is a show or not show. The committee's
decision is final at that time.
11. Minimum weight limits for market animals to be shown in market classes:
HOGS
200 lbs.
LAMBS
90 lbs.
STEERS
875 lbs.
If 10 or more market animals are in a class they will be split equally by weight.
Under weight animals may be shown in showmanship classes by its owner.
12. In order to be sold at the sale all market animals must be shown in both the
market class and showmanship classes by its owner.
13. Record books must be exhibited at the fair. They must be completed after the
final weigh in and returned to Emily Bruce by Thursday 10:00 a.m. before market
livestock show.
14. All animals need to be securely tied or penned and properly supervised. ALL
cattle MUST have a safety rope and a halter.
15. During the fair, feeding times for all livestock (open & youth) shall be 7:00 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. daily.
16.Owners will be responsible for the care of livestock until the animals are released
from the fair, except for rabbits, poultry, and pet stock which follow the small
animal barn rules. Owners will be responsible for cleaning their own pens.
17. Judging will be: Youth - Danish system, Open - Straight Scale, THE JUDGES
DECISION IS FINAL.
18. A personal thank you to the buyers must be written. Checks will be held until a
“thank you” note is written.
19. A selling fee of 4 percent to cover beef commission and advertising for the steers
shall be held from the seller’s check. One percent less for the swine and sheep,
poultry at 1 percent.
20. ENTRY TIMES: All poultry, rabbits, and pet stock must be tested and in place
between 3:00 - 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. All market livestock will be weighed in
between noon - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday. All other livestock shall enter the fair
between 3:00 - 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. Late entry must be approved by the fair
president and superintendent. ALL LIVESTOCK/ANIMALS MUST SHOW
APPROPRIATE HEALTH PAPERS AND/OR IDENTIFICATION TO THE
CLERK BEFORE UNLOADING AND/OR PENNING.
21.FAIR SCALE WEIGHT OF ANIMALS WILL PREVAIL: Scale weight
of animals by a Marquette County Fair Official is FINAL. Any person
disagreeing with weight of animals may be asked to take livestock home.
22. RELEASE TIMES: No livestock may be released until the closing time of the
fair, 6:15 p.m. Sunday. All poultry, rabbits and pet stock will begin release at
6:15 p.m. You must have your claim slip with you at the time of release. Failure
to follow the release time will result in premium loss.
23. Sale order shall start with all the Grand Champions of each species. The remaining animals within the species shall sell reserve champion first followed
in judged order with each award being drawn by lot.

2012 - Steers, lambs, hogs
2013 - Steers, hogs, lambs
The livestock committee will be the final authority on all matters of concern in
regard to the youth shows.
THE MARQUETTE COUNTY FAIR
The Marquette County Fair is an independent 501-(c)-3 non-profit corporation with
no formal or informal affiliation with any governmental agency or unit at the local,
state, or federal level; including the County of Marquette. The board of directors
consists of nineteen volunteers with full voting privileges. These residents and
citizens serve at the pleasure of the board without any compensation for their time
and effort. Neither the fair as an entity nor, the individual directors receive any
funding or compensation from the County, nor are they subject to any operational
oversight or direction from the County as a governing body.
Farmers, 4-H members, homemakers and urban residents and others will be
exhibiting products they have grown or have made during the current calendar
year.
The Marquette County Fair Board sincerely hopes that this event will continue
to grow through the participation of people throughout this area.

Our endowment fund provides a means for maintaining the future financial health of the fair well beyond our individual years
and has potential to make the fair a self sustaining part of our

today and the total lack of any taxpayer financial support it is
important to insure the money will be there for our grandchildren and their grandchildren. By establishing this fund and asking for your individual support now and again in your estate
planning we are confident that with your generous help future
fair boards will continue to have the financial ability to produce
a quality fair for many generations to come. Please stop by the
information booth during the fair for information on how you
can contribute; or contact any fair board member after the fair.

The “Exhibitor of the Year” award will be presented to the adult exhibitor acquiring
the most points in indoor exhibits.
All entries will be eligible for Exhibitor of the Year and Award given at Annual
Picnic, and may not win more than 2 years consecutively.
A complete listing of entries on entry sheets by department to be judged for this
award must be turned in to association secretary August 1st.

AMERICAN LEGION YOUTH AWARD

RULES:
1. Winner chosen from rosette winners in youth divisions “A” (ages 9-13) and “B”
(ages 14-19).
2. Open to all youth ages 9 through 19 (before December 31, of current year).
3. Exhibits must be from a project completed this past year.
4. A panel of judges will interview finalists. Candidates are required to attend interview Sunday afternoon. Judges will consist of one person from County Extension
Service, one from the American Legion Post #44, and one from the Fair board or
a person selected by these groups.
5. The overall criteria will be: good workmanship, academic standing, good quality,
number of quality entries entered by person, and involvement in social activities.
6. Person can win every other year (not consecutively). Consideration will also be
given to age of youth.
Awards will be given at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, Rosette winners can sign up for interviews at the M.S.U. Extension Booth up until 10:00 a.m. on Sunday. Interviews will
be conducted from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.

The Most Dedicated 4-H Youth Award is given on behalf of Harold and Arline
Bahrman. Harold and Arline instilled in their seven children the importance of hard
work and that a positive outlook builds strong character and leadership skills that can
benefit the community. They also played an important role in the lives of their fourteen
grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Arline and Harold were 4-H leaders for
many years and encouraged the (member/children/youth) to work hard, to help others,
and to care about their community.
This Award has been created for the 4-H member who has demonstrated their commitment to 4-H and the community through hard work, positive behavior and mentoring

A 25¢ entry fee will be charged for all entries in open class payable at time of entry to
superintendent or clerk. Animals are to be left in cages at all times. 50¢ cage fee, $1
for pens. Small animals will not be released until 6:15 p.m. Sunday.
Special pens or feeds that are needed must be furnished by exhibitor.
Feed will be donated by MARES - Z - DOATS unless special diet is required.

Poultry Exhibition Pullorum Test Documentation
The exhibition requirements are as stated in the Health Requirements for Livestock
Exhibited in Michigan. Documentation will be as follows:
1. Hatchery source documentation.
2. Entire flock or individual bird test report USDA VS-9-2 or VS-9-3.
3. Michigan Department of Agriculture pullorum test form with owner certification,
and or
4. Statement provided by pullorum tester and or accredited veterinarian including
5. Owner certification statement with all of the above forms; providing verification
of birds being presented for pullorum test status and isolation from unknown status
poultry since pullorum test negative status.
• A separate exhibit must be entered if exhibiting in both open and youth classes.
• Exhibits will be judged by the "Standard of Perfection"
• For sale signs maybe posted AFTER judging- with the sellers: name, phone number
and price. No animals may leave the grounds until Sunday 6:15 pm.

GNPLC Youth Leadership Award
• The Great Northern Poultry and Livestock Connection has graciously donated
money to cover ALL Youth entries in both open and 4-H classes in Department 12 with the exception of the Market Classes
• The GNPLC Youth Leadership Award for the Small Animal Barn will have a
sign-up sheet in the barn on entry day, all interested youth need to sign-up to
be considered for this Award.
• This award will be given to one (1) individual per age group
(5-9 yrs. 10-14 yrs., & 15-19 yrs.)
• This award is a $50.00 cash award.
• Open to all youth (5-19 yrs) that enter an exhibit in the small animal barn
• Judging for the youth award is through GNPLC members and the Superintendent
• How the animal does during the fair has no reflection on this award.
• Youth need to exhibit positive attitude.
• Youth must follow the rules of the fair (example: getting animal into their
cages by given times, caring for animal, barn duties)
• Winners shall be posted by Sunday at noon

Breed of the Day Program
This program is an educational project open to all youth who choose to participate.
Each day a breed of "poultry" division will be chosen to be on display.
Youth who choose to participate, will showcase their animal at the entrance of the barn
and be with their animal so they can answer any questions from the public.
Each Exhibitor will also be responsible to make a "poster of facts" about their animal.
(breed facts, description, feed requirements, pictures, etc.)
Participants are then eligible to enter into: Education Project, Section 8, Class 1 and
2 accordingly to their type of animal.


completed and handed into the superintendent by Thursday at 3:00 pm.

1. Competition open to all miniature horses, registered or grade. Must be 38” or under. May
be measured.
2. All stalled horses must be stalled by noon on Thursday. Stalls must be decorated.
3. No stalled horses released before 6:15pm on Sunday.
4. $3 entry fee per class. Pre-entry encouraged but not required.
5. Only the top 2 horses of each class are eligible for Grand and Reserve.
6. Must be 18 years of age to show a stallion.
7. Proper attire required. No ball caps, t-shirts, tennis shoes. No exceptions.
8. Helmets required for youth riding or driving classes.
9. Must be 6 years old to show in a premium class.
10. AMHR rules will be used.
11. Current year negative coggins required.

Rules:
1. Do not enter number pictures, copy pictures, or any type of work from a kit or
pattern. Only original works created in the past three years will be accepted and
judged.
2. Name, address and classification should be written plainly on the back or base of
each exhibit. The artist’s name on a painting should be covered. All entries must
be the creation of the exhibitor.
3. All paintings must have wires attached for hanging, glued on hangers will not be
accepted. Water colors should be matted.
4. Framed entries must not exceed four feet in width or height. Sculptures must not
exceed five feet in height including display base.
5. Amateurs are those whose exhibits represent a recreational hobby and is not used
as a means of livelihood or has exhibited in a professional show or gallery.
6. Sculpture divisions will include wood carvings as long as they are original art
creations and not patterns.
6. Every precaution will be taken to insure the safety of exhibits, but in no case will
the Fair be responsible for loss or injury of same.

This department provides an opportunity for collectors to exhibit their hobby and for other
individuals who derive pleasure from making accessories for the home or for personal use
to exhibit their hobbycraft.
Entries in this department are projects completed entirely by the hobby craftsman. Projects
may have a commercially prepared base or design upon which the hobby craftsman constructs. Kits purchased and completed by the hobby craftsman are acceptable. Combinations
of various materials hand shaped or commercially prepared are also acceptable as long as
the completed project was constructed by the same person.
Exhibitors must provide their own case where necessary. Each item must be identified.
A collection shall consist of 4 items or more unless otherwise stated. Collection must be on
firm backing and not more than nine square feet.

Judging: Unless otherwise indicated, the Danish system of awarding premiums will be
used with A (blue ribbon), B (red ribbon), C (white ribbon) rating given each exhibit
in each class. It is expected that approximately 30% or total exhibits may be rated A,
50% rated B, and 20% rated C, although any one class may vary greatly from these
percentages to conform to the judge’s rating, but in no case shall a judge award an A
rating to more than 50% or exhibits in any class have more than three entries.
IF IN THE OPINION OF THE SUPERINTENDENT AND THE JUDGE, THE
EXHIBIT IS NOT WORTHY, NO PREMIUM WILL BE AWARDED AND THE
EXHIBIT WILL BE REMOVED.
