COMMODORE’S
REPORT
Chris Colthurst
Hello Fellow Members,
This month’s report is about a one off event we are hosting on May 20th
and a Special Members Evening on May 21st. We are extremely pleased
to welcome the Windsor Symphony Orchestra to our Club for a very
prestigious event. We will be hosting their 2016 Blue Moon Rhapsody
Gala on Friday the 20th of May. The WSO did a site visit and were very
impressed with all that the Club has to offer and are excited to be able to
have their event here. They hold numerous luncheons and other functions
throughout the year. By hosting their Gala, we are hoping that they will
want to come back to our Club for other parties and possibly consider
joining. This is a terrific opportunity to showcase our fantastic Club and
facilities to many people who have not had the opportunity to see all that
we have to offer. Friday night the patio will be open to Members to take
in our great view and enjoy Chef’s fantastic patio fare. Mary and I hope to
share a drink and a bite to eat with you on the Friday night.
On the Saturday of the long weekend we will be offering our Members
and visiting boaters (two have requested wells already) a special evening,
Laura has titled “Flip it Friday”. Our Friday night offerings will be available
on Saturday including our famous Prime Rib. There will also be a special
dinner feature and drink specials along with entertainment by ” C to C”, a
great duo for your listening and dancing pleasure. So if you are not going
on the fleet cruise, be sure to make your reservations for the Flip it Friday
Party.
As always I look forward to WYC’ing you at the Club.
Respectfully submitted,
Commodore Chris H. Colthurst

VICE COMMODORE’S
REPORT
DAN CASTER
It's back!! Our Windsor Yacht Club REDNECK PARTY is on! 2 years ago we had
our first Red Neck Party and it was an absolute blast! The Red Neck Party is on
April 2nd, and this year we have a genuine "JUG" band right from the foothills of
Tennessee. The "Deep Fried Pickle Project" is an award winning, true jug band
that will be some over the top entertainment.
Our last Red Neck Party was a complete sell out and we had a huge
amount of people that wanted tickets right before the event and we were sold
out. PLEASE if you want to attend do not hesitate, call the office or email
[email protected] right away and book your tickets.
The harbour is still on track and looks incredible. We plan on pouring the concrete
and laying the asphalt as soon as the weather permits, we greatly appreciate
everyone’s patience as we occupy part of the parking lot to do the work. It will be
definitely worth it!
We ask that the boaters going in the east harbour also please be patient. We may
have to put your boat in the west harbour if you launch early this year.
Lance has kicked off his new Members drive. We all need to help with this and
talk to our friends that are interested in joining. We need a few more Members
and it will help in our daily operations of the Club. Membership is one area that is
a total group effort that involves all of us. Cindy and I just welcomed our friends
Sandra and Bruce Hughes to the Club. Please help us and make your Club grow.
February was a great month in the Club and the Super Bowl party was well
attended. Congratulations to Rear Commodore Ted and Lady Fiona on winning
the chilli cook off this year!
Cindy and the fashion show committee are hard at work preparing this year’s
fashion show "An Evening At Tiffany's.” This will also be a spectacular sold out
event and if you are attending please call the office and reserve your tickets now,
they are going fast. Having run Metro Day for all these years, I know raising raffle
prizes is challenging and Cindy is not one to ask so I will. If you would like to
donate a raffle prize or a door prize, the committee would greatly appreciate it.
The money raised with these raffles goes directly to improving our Club. If you
would like to donate a prize, please send me an email or call me personally and I
will pick it up. Let's help the lady's with the raffle, the event is countless hours of
work and they could use our help with this.
Looking forward to an early spring! See you at the Club!

TED SAXBY
Well, here I'm doing the March log report on Valentine's Day. I think it's
the coldest day we have had all winter! You have to agree the weather has
been pretty good to this point, and has been great for the harbour rebuild.
Although it looks like everything is moving ahead at a good pace, the new
harbour may not be ready for the early birds. You know who you are so
wax your boat again! Early birds may have to dock in the west harbour
until the east is ready. Please remember your well is to be paid in full by
March 31/16, there will be no exception, as we have a waiting list. Make
sure you check out the fleet schedule, that Tom and his committee have
been working hard to plan some great trips.

FLEET CAPTAIN'S
REPORT
TOM WEBER
We have a new addition to the WYC website. You will be able to see
the entire year’s fleet cruise schedule online now using the drop-down
box under the heading “Boating/Harbor” in the Members area of the
website. Full descriptions of each cruise were also given in last month’s
Log report.
Our next fleet cruise is the “land cruise” by Greyhound Bus to visit
our American friends at Monroe, Swan and Edison Boat Clubs on April
9. This was a very popular event last year. You don’t need a boat to
participate and it’s a great chance to check out three of our area Clubs
that you may have never seen in the past. For newer Members of our
Club, there’s no better way to get to know your fellow Members than to
spend an entire day with them having fun! Full details are included in
the ad in this month’s Log.
For those boaters intending to join us May 20 to 23 at Lake St Clair
Metro Park ( Metro Beach ), please make sure to make your reservations
asap so that you won’t be disappointed. We already have 16 boats
signed up for this cruise. Ditto for the cruise to Sarnia Bay Marina. See
last month’s Log for full reservation instructions. Landlubbers can also
have fun and stay at hotels near both of these locations. Send me an
email to [email protected] for suggestions.
Only one month until launch day!
