Checks should be made payable to: Mid-Pacific Institute. Checks may be walked into the External Affairs Office or mailed to: Mid-Pacific Institute - External Affairs 2445 Kaala Street Honolulu, Hawaii 96822 *there is a $20 charge for all returned checks. Classes are open to the general public on a first come, first served basis. You may register for classes online at: www.midpac.edu/extendedlearning. Registration does not guarantee enrollment. Payment must be made in full by either check or credit card in order to guarantee a spot in class. *classes may be canceled due to low enrollment Consent Forms Late Registration Parents or guardians of students who do not attend Mid-Pacific must read and sign our online Extended Learning Consent Form before a student can be confirmed for a class. Late registration may be available to certain classes if the class is not sold out and if approved by instructor. There are no prorated rates for late registrations. All late registrations must pay class fee in full. Confirmation Sold Out Classes A confirmation will be sent to the email provided. Parents will be notified if classes they have registered for online have already sold out and will be issued a full refund. Refund/Withdrawl Policy Canceled Classes A full refund will be given to cancellations made at least 7 business days prior to the first class. No refunds will be made once a class starts. *there may be a $25 service fee for all class changes and withdrawals. Parents will be notified via email before 11:30am if class must be canceled for any reason and a suitable substitute is not available. A make-up class will be scheduled by the instructor. *no refunds for missed make-up classes Absenses Pick Up If your child will be missing his/her after school class, please call or email us. Even if your child has missed school that day, please be sure to inform the Extended Learning Office. All students may be picked up at the following locations unless noted otherwise by the instructor: Elementary School Classes: ES Autoline Last Minute Cancelations If an elementary class is canceled after 11:30am, instructors will stay with their students until the end of the regular class time. Elementary students not picked up by 10 minutes after their class time has ended will be esocrted to our after school program. There is a $15 daily charge for our after school program. Middle/High School Classes: Bakken Autoline Elementary students who are not picked up by 10 minutes after their class has ended will be escorted to our after school program. There is a $15 daily charge for our after school program. Emergency Plan In the event of an emergency, students will be held in a safe area until pick-up is deemed safe. Check our website www.midpac.edu for up to date information and/or listen to major radio stations or watch local TV news programs. 4 Frequently Asked Questions Q: My child does not attend Mid-Pacific Summer School. May he/she still attend these classes? A. Yes. All of our classes are open to the public except for swimming. Q: I want to drop off my check. Where should I go? A. Checks may be taken to the Elementary School or the External Affairs Office. Q: A class my child took last summer is no longer being offered. Why is this? A. Our catalog is constantly changing. Most classes are based on instructor availability and class space. Q: I need to drop my child off to school before their class starts. May they hang around campus by themselves till class starts? A. Elementary students are not to be left attended. Any child found unattended will be escorted to our After School Care Program. There is a $15 daily charge. Q: My child is already enrolled in the After School Care Program and will need to go there after class. Will someone escort them back? A. Yes. Class instructors and our after school care supervisors will assist in making sure your child gets back safely. Q: I won’t be able to pick my child up till much later in the day. May we get a partial refund? A. No refunds are given once a class has started. Q: I won’t have access to internet or won’t be in front of a computer when registration opens up. Can you reserve my child a spot in class? A. No. Spots are not guaranteed until the online registration is complete and payments are received. Q: My child is on the wait list for a sold out class. When will we know if we got in? A. We will notify parents at least one week before the classes start if a spot has opened up. Q: How do you determine the order of the wait list? A. All entries are time stamped. Wait list is ordered depending on the time you registered. Q: Are parents allowed to sit and observe classes? A. Teacher’s choice. Please contact your class instructor. 5 Meeting Areas Grades K-5: All elementary extended learning classes should meet in the CE House Preschool: All preschool extended learning students should remain in the preschool classroom until met by their instructors. Middle and High School: Extended learning students grades 6th - 12th should meet in their assigned classrooms at least 10 minutes before class. 6 CAMP AWESOME Open to students currently in grades K - 5th Are you ready for some AWESOME? School is out, but Camp Awesome is in session and ready for another year of fun, laughs and good times! Join us for 4 days of activities, special guests and more! Limited Space. Open to the public. No early drop offs. Student must provide their own lunch, snacks and drinks. Refunds will only be given to cancelations received at least one week before camp begins. Using engineering as a platform, students will explore basic concepts in electronics and coding through guided play activities. Using board games and programmable bots, students will be introduced to basic coding concepts and will explore why coding is so important in the world around us. This group would primarily be the splash ball variation of water polo and teaching the most fundamental skills such as eggbeater (treading water), handling the ball and having fun (75% fun 25% skill development). “Splash ball” is relaxed rules and players are allowed to use floating noodles and touch the ball with two hands. This class offers a chance to try out a sportthat is unique, fun, and challenging. They will also be introduced to the values and ideologies of Mid-.‐Pacific Water Polo with emphasis on effort, commitment to excellence, teamwork and positivity. This class offers a chance to try out a sport that is unique, fun, andchallenging. Level Grades 7-9 Class Day M-F # of Meetings 10 Class Times 4:30 - 6:00pm Fee $250 Notes Class Dates: 7/18, 7/19, 7/20, 7/21, 7/22, 7/25, 7/26, 7/27, 7/28, 7/29 Water Polo (Competitive Group White Team) - Grades 9th -11th Instructor: Athletics Recommended for entering grades 9‐11 based on skill level (Varsity II Players) Students will build upon and perfect the solid fundamentals from previous groups in preparation for competitive play during the school year. They will increase conditioning while having controlled scrimmages to increase game awareness and experience. Level Grades 9-11 Class Day M-F # of Meetings 10 Class Times 10:00am - 12:00pm Fee $300 Notes Class Dates: 7/18, 7/19, 7/20, 7/21, 7/22, 7/25, 7/26, 7/27, 7/28, 7/29 Water Polo (Competitive Group Green Team) - Grades 10th -12th Instructor: Athletics Recommended for entering grades 10‐12 based on skill level (Varsity I Players) Students will increase conditioning and preparation skills for the highest level of competitive play possible. Advanced technique training will be provided as well as learning plays to help create dynamic and adaptable offenses/defenses. Controlled and uncontrolled scrimmaging will help further boost experience.
