Ugly Sweater Party
The Port Hope Young Professionals hosted a holiday social and ugly
sweater party at Stanley's Fish & Grill on December 11th. Approximately 20 people gathered to enjoy cocktails and socializing. The
selection of holiday sweaters-both homemade and store boughtwas quite impressive.
The Young Professionals meet once a month and new people are
always welcome-you don't have to be young to be a Young Professional, it's really just a state of mind.

LAURIA'S TO ADD A SECOND DEALERSHIP IN 2016
(Port Hope, On) January 26th 2015
"We've come a long way in the 30 years since opening the Pontiac store on Peter Street in 1984. I was 7 years old at
that time." Bud Lauria reflects on 3 decades of Lauria vehicles roaming the hills of Northumberland County and
beyond. "Adding a second store right beside the Hyundai store is the next logical step for us. It's something that my
wife Sara and I, along with my parents, have dreamed about for some time."
Bud and Frank Lauria have been appointed by Volkswagen Canada to own and operate a full service Volkswagen
store located in the town of Port Hope and serving Northumberland County, Central and Eastern Ontario. "We are
honoured to add such an amazing brand to our offerings. Volkswagen is the perfect complement to a thriving
Hyundai brand." Says Frank Lauria. "With the exception of a pickup truck, we firmly believe that no matter what type
of vehicle you're in the market for, we can meet and exceed the automotive needs of the area."
Bud says that the goal is to open in the spring market of 2016. Somewhere around March 1st. Construction is
scheduled to begin in June or July with some preliminary site work being done right now. "This store will be
gorgeous!" Exclaims Bud. "Under the Volkswagen White Frame Modular Concept image program, we will build a
modestly sized facility that will accommodate steadily growing sales and service in an incredibly efficient and
comfortable space." The facility will face West South West towards the Hyundai store at the North end of Benson
Court, directly
South of the 401.
More jobs for the
area! The
dealership will
employ 18
people when it
opens in early
2016 but Bud
and Frank expect
that will grown to
upwards of 25
within a few short years. The Hyundai store currently employs 32 full time staff. "We'll be looking for confident,
genuine, responsible people who have a real interest in ensuring our customers are happy. While the real search for
the right candidates won't begin for some time, resumes are always welcome and can be dropped off at the reception
desk of Lauria Hyundai." Says Frank.
Lauria Hyundai, like many local businesses, puts a strong emphasis on community involvement. "Adding a second
store will allow us to expand many areas of our business including how we interact with various local organizations.
We are committed to doing our part in any way that we can." Says Bud. "I
can't wait to see Lauria Hyundai square off against Lauria Volkswagen on
the soccer pitch or the hockey rink. The only question is, which team will
my son play for?"
You can expect to see much of the same customer focused approach to
the car business as what many have experienced at the Hyundai store.
"There's nothing that needs to be reinvented here." Says a confident Bud Lauria. "We are still doing the same things
that took us to #1 in Canada in 2012 and still have us leading the Country in combined Sales and Service Customer
Satisfaction scores. We intend on operating the Volkswagen store the same way. Great people, world class product
and proper customer focused process. It's not rocket science by any means."

will be distributed by 5:00pm March 6, 2015.
What's a nomination? A nomination means someone submitted your businesses name for consideration to win an award
What's a nomination package? The nomination package is a template that is created by the Chamber and completed by the
nominee. A completed nomination package is submitted to the Chamber and delivered to the judging panel. The nomination package details why a person or business should win the award in that category.
Okay....then what happens?
The judging panel (which includes the Chamber President
and two other people) score the submitted nomination
packages individually and then meet to compare the scoring. The winners are selected and awards presented.
The more detail and effort provided in a submission the
higher score the nomination package will receive. The
awards are given based solely on the nomination package
and how it meets the parameters outlined. Most businesses
are nominated many times over several years before they win
their first award.
Judges NEVER evaluate a category they are nominated inthe Chamber has been doing this for over 17years. Chamber Manager Bree Nixon works very hard to ensure their
are no conflicts of interest. Any questions about the judging process can be directed
