Inaugurations No. 82 P A R I S N E W S // j u n e 2 0 1 3 Every month ParisNews reveals what is new in Paris. June has a great line-up: a 4-star hotel, a small neighbourhood hotel, an ultra-modern youth hostel, a workshop for made-to-measure couture, an air museum, a local walk … To see how varied and lively Paris is, read on! Accommodation // The hotel R. Kipling, in the style of a gentleman’s residence The brand new hotel R. Kipling****, which has just opened in the heart of Nouvelle Athènes in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, takes you into another world, just a few steps away from the buzzy atmosphere of Montmartre and its cabarets. In a style that lends itself to Orientalism, the decor harmoniously blends post-colonial features with a modern interpretation of a late 19th-century English house. The 40 bedrooms (from single room to suite) are decorated in vibrant colours: celadon green, dark purple or China blue. The curtains have been created especially for the hotel and feature a motif from a Chinese vase. Chinese furniture completes the look: lacquered wardrobes, pedestal tables in bamboo, safari chairs, etc. Hotel amenities include, complimentary Wi-Fi available throughout the hotel; each room has a courtesy tray with hot drinks machine, minibar and safe-deposit box. The reception area with its decorative chimney place and bookcase is a quiet place to relax and yet you are only just a short step from the lively boulevards. The hotel is the latest work of the Paris-Honotel group, who have deliberately put the emphasis on the atmosphere of a British gentleman and lady’s town house where guests are received like house guests. Certainly a success. > HoTEL R. KIPLING**** 65 rue Blanche, Paris 9th Tel +33 (0) 1 55 31 91 99 www.kipling-hotel.com A touch of the Roaring Twenties at the hotel Joséphine A neighbour of the hotel R. Kipling and opened at the same time by the Paris-Honotel group, the Joséphine has been decorated by Julie Gauthron. She has taken her inspiration for the decor from Joséphine Baker and the many cabarets that made this district, below Montmartre hill, famous 100 years ago. It was the era of the Roaring Twenties, the belle époque … Today, a stylish and glamorous atmosphere greet the visitor on arrival: old photos of cabarets, feathered masks, vinyl records relooked, etc. A huge bookcase and comfortable sofa create a cosy boudoir setting to relax in. The hotel has 40 superior category double and single guest rooms, some of which have a balcony or even a terrace with a view over the rooftops of Paris; rooms at the top are attic rooms – a nod to bohemian Paris of the past. The colour scheme is daring: an astonishing mix of coral with turquoise, and red with lilac. Bed headboards and wardrobes have been created especially for the Joséphine, and naturally they too have a touch of art deco about them. Bedside tables have been sourced second-hand but the telephones are indeed modern although they have a vintage look to them. All the rooms have a courtesy tray, and superior rooms also have a minibar. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel. The bright and welcoming breakfast room is also decorated in an atypical mix of styles in a fine stone vaulted room. Although most of the cabarets have disappeared, their spirit is still alive and is in the air at the Joséphine. Visitors are greeted in a large comfortably furnished and bright reception area. There is a snack area for guests and iPhone station where they can have a bite to eat and listen to their own music. A glassed-in patio is ideal for lazing in the sun, in tranquility, away from the hustle and bustle of the boulevard. The 33 classic, superior and duplex bedrooms, and suites, face either onto boulevard du Temple or an interior courtyard, with soundproofing for guaranteed calm. The upper bedrooms have a balcony with a view of Place de la République and, in the distance, Sacré-Coeur. The decor with exposed beams has a very Parisian touch. Restful colours, lamps that seem to float in the air, sleek modern bathrooms, little details like chalk sketches here and there create an elegant and original atmosphere. The duplex bedrooms offer luxury with a difference: a bath tub with lion’s feet at the end of the bed for instant relaxation and romance. A final surprise is a rooftop terrace where guests can relax in the sunshine and enjoy a breathtaking view over the east of Paris. The lower-ground floor has a well-being space complete with hammam, sauna, fitness room, and massage room, open all the time. Finally, the bright and colourful stone vaulted breakfast room gets visitors off to a great start to the day with a full buffet breakfast. > HoTEL HÔ MARAIS*** 38 boulevard du Temple, Paris 11th Tel +33 (0) 1 40 07 13 27 www.hotels-emeraude.com/hotel-ho-marais.html 100% ecological accommodation in Paris for young people Converted from an old 1920s warehouse in metal, the Yves Robert youth hostel has just opened in the biggest eco-district in the capital, close to the Gare du nord. Clad in wood and a haven of peace, it opens onto a 9,000 m2 garden. It constitutes the most important urban solar ‘power station’ in France with 3,500 m2 of photovoltaic panels on the roof making it a model of sustainable development. It also boasts sorting of waste, recuperation of rain water, perfect soundproofing … It is the first ecological hostel in the world to open in a capital city. The 130 bedrooms offer from one to six single or bunk beds, table, chairs, individual locker, wash basin, shower and complete bedding. Electric plugs, USB and e-book reader in bedrooms. Large open communal areas offer opportunities to share different activities: pool table, table football, a nightclub and huge terraces opening onto the garden. A self-service cafe is open every day for all meals, and two modular dining rooms are available for a separate sitting for groups. Other facilities include seven fully-equipped and modular meeting rooms with daylight, and a 180-seat function room for the organization of events that may be independent of the accommodation at the hostel or combined with it. NB the hostel is fully accessible to disabled people, individuals or groups. The single rate is €29.50, including breakfast. Also included, an international atmosphere that fosters dialogue and sociability. > AUBERGE DE JEUNESSE YVES ROBERT 20 rue Pajol, Paris 18th Tel +33 (0) 1 53 26 97 92 www.hihostels.com ParisNews // the Paris convention and visitors bureau n0. 82 // inaugurations // june 2013 2 How a private mansion house was converted into a hotel: the San Régis … This private mansion house was built in 1857, in rue Jean Goujon, close to the Champs-Élysées and avenue Montaigne, in an era when the sound of horse and carriages and the rustling of the dresses of elegant ladies were familiar sounds. It was in 1923 that Simon André Terrail, the owner of the Tour d’Argent, converted the building into a luxury hotel. That was the start of the adventure for the San Régis***** which continued when the hotel was bought by Elie George in 1984. Now another page is being written with the recent renovation carried out under architect Pierre-Yves Rochon, who had already overseen the first phase of the decoration. This time, the classic bedrooms have been given a more contemporary touch. Paintings, furniture, porcelain and wallhangings have been carefully selected in light colours ranging from soft green to blue or pale yellow that enhance the floral motifs and fine decorative materials. Complimentary Hermès toiletries and a courtesy tray are provided for the pleasure and comfort of guests. The bar-restaurant ‘Confidences du San Régis’ has undergone a more significant refurbishment. The same colour palette is used as in the guest rooms and it has all the cosiness and luxuriousness of the hotel. Three small consecutive rooms dominated by a magnificent glass roof are a pleasant place to eat and have the atmosphere of a winter garden – emphasized by plant walls. The new menu by chef Christophe Lericolais combines classic dishes with chic, fun and gourmet snacks (sweet and sour gambas with mango chutney, sea bass with saffron sauce and mushroom raviolis, club sandwich, etc.). The mouthwatering desserts are prepared every day by Pâtisserie des Rêves. This is an ideal place for lunch and dinner but also for a snack or aperitif served by attentive and discrete staff. Quintessential Parisian chic for this hotel which celebrates its 90th anniversary this spring! > Hotel SAN RéGIS***** 12 rue Jean Goujon, Paris 8th Tel +33 (0) 1 44 95 16 16 www.hotel-sanregis.fr Hotel Obododo: affordable rates in the people’s Paris The Obododo bistro is now a hotel too. Well known by visitors who eat there after visiting Père Lachaise cemetery, Obododo is a cosy place with mismatched furniture creating the atmosphere of the people’s Paris. The hotel is situated on the first floor of the little house which is on the corner of the appropriately named rue de Repos. There are only 10 bedrooms, which are all new, peaceful and have a view of the cemetery. Each room has a decor that is in some way unique (a certain fabric, or a mirror in a certain place, etc). Three of the rooms are particularly spacious and can easily accommodate a third person in an additional bed. An unusual detail: in one of these larger rooms there’s a large old safe, a remnant of the shop which used to occupy the building, the key of which is missing, making it impossible to find out what’s inside … a notice to the curious! Note: while each room has a shower and a washbasin, the toilets are situated on the landing in two separate rooms for men and women and are very clean. The second floor, beautifully designed under the loft, is a communal area perfect for reading, relaxing and even working thanks to an Internet connection. Breakfast is served in the Parisian bistro on the ground floor. A simple but tasty menu for lunch, dinner and snacks is available at any time of day. > HoTEL OBODODO 28 boulevard de Ménilmontant, Paris 20th Tel +33 (0) 1 43 48 77 36 [email protected] ParisNews // the Paris convention and visitors bureau n0. 82 // inaugurations // june 2013 3 Culture // Promenons-nous… sur les Grands Boulevards de Paris (Let’s take a walk on the Grands Boulevards of Paris) A new product for discerning tourists. Fully restored to be identical to the original, this art deco space, at the heart of the former airport designed by Georges Labro, bore witness to the journeys of millions of passengers from the 30s to the 70s. Built in 1937 for the Exposition Universelle, the departures and arrivals lounge presents a magnificent glass dome and a black and white chequered floor. It is now being transformed to host prestigious events. Other parts of the museum that have undergone work include the three Fouga Magister jets which were previously displayed at the entrance to the museum and which have now been replaced by full-scale models. This two-seater jet dating back to the 50s, used for training fighter pilots, is a symbol of the Patrouille de France which has used it for more than 25 years. The museum is the world’s leading aeronautical museum, in terms of age and the wealth of its original collections of more than 150 authentic planes, numerous items on the theme of 18th and 19th century hot air balloons and objects related to space, like models of the Ariane rockets. To complete the tour, you can take a break at the Hélice restaurant or visit the museum shop which has a multitude of scale models, and other aeronautical gadgets to delight children and adults. > musée de l’air et de l’espace Aéroport de Paris – Le Bourget, Le Bourget Tel +33 (0) 1 49 92 70 00 www.museeairespace.fr ParisNews // the Paris convention and visitors bureau n0. 82 // inaugurations // june 2013 4 Shopping // The Atelier anonyme for bespoke couture In the intimacy of a delightful apartment in the stylish 16th arrondissement, a couture workshop for Parisian women and women from elsewhere. The Atelier anonyme offers handcrafted design for all articles of women’s clothing whether they be modern or timeless classics, simple or sophisticated. The collections, presented twice yearly in Paris and in London show the trends and inspiration of the atelier’s dressmakers, which clients can then have tailored to their taste: fabric, colours, cut … everything can be changed and adapted. The palette of colours is almost infinite, from timeless black, brownish-grey and grey to the brightest colours. The fine fabrics are made only within Europe: cashmere, fine wool from men’s suits come from Italy, the Netherlands, Britain and of course France. Lace comes from the historic house of Sophie Hallette, famous for having made the lace for Kate Middleton’s wedding dress. An unusual detail: every model has a reference name: Justine, Amélie, Bérénice ou Clémence. Every order requires three appointments and a total of four weeks. First of all measurements are taken and there is a choice of patterns and fabric and a discussion regarding the details and adaptations required by the client. Then 15 days or so later the first fitting takes place to ensure that the dress ‘hangs’ perfectly. Finally, two weeks later just before delivery, for any final details and adjustments. Appointments may take place at the showroom in total privacy, or at the client’s hotel. The entire fabrication of the article takes place in Paris, in the workshop adjoining the showroom. The small team of four people which makes up the Atelier anonyme are passionate about offering fine basics that are elegant, pure and simple, unique and lasting, as well as exceptional items of clothing for a special occasion. Parisian boat trip companies vie with each other to offer more and more original boat tours to admire the wonderful places along the Seine and canal riverbanks. New itineraries, gourmet trips and shows are all part of a sightseeing trip along the water. Original guided tours On the Seine and canals, boat trips offer views of the capital’s finest monuments: Eiffel Tower, Grand Palais, Notre-Dame cathedral and numerous other historical buildings. The upscale Yachts de Paris offer an exclusive package for discovering the capital. Leaving from Port Henri IV, a luxurious fleet of yachts, synonymous with Parisian refinement and art de vivre, can be privately hired for talks on contemporary art, gardens and architecture; this can also include special access to major museums and exhibitions, cooking lessons … a whole range of subjects for a unique and unforgettable cruise, starting from 10 people. As well as classic boat trips, the Vedettes de Paris also offer an ‘Impressions de Paris’ boat trip on the theme of the Impressionist painters. Renoir, Monet, Jongkind, Morisot … all the major Impressionist painters chose the Seine as a model. A talk (in French and English) takes you back to the time of late 19th and early 20th century Paris to discover the inspiration and paintings of these great painters. The Vedettes de Paris has just launched a new boat and trip, the Batostar. Moored opposite the île Saint-Louis, this little electric boat, the only one in Paris, offers boat trips lasting 40 minutes around the historical centre of Paris. It navigates around the two islands to the Louvre and images of Paris in the Middle Ages are projected onto a screen so that passengers can get to the heart of the medieval city. On the quayside a large bar with a sun terrace, open daily and in the evening, is perfect for a relaxing drink before or after the boat trip. The Bateaux Parisiens offer a classic sightseeing cruise, leaving from the Eiffel Tower or Notre-Dame with audio guides in a choice of 13 languages. A bonus is the additional commentary about the more unknown side of Paris, provided on board by a hostess. Seeing Paris by boat remains the most delightful way of travelling through the city, by day or night. The Canauxrama boat company operates on the Seine and also on the canal Saint-Martin and the canal de l’Ourcq, the smallest navigable canal in France; several itineraries are offered leaving from the centre of Paris: original trips lasting from two hours to a day, or for an evening. Options include a musical cruise, a guinguette cruise, ‘old Paris’ cruise and even a horse-drawn cruise (as in the 19th century): all offer a real plunge into the Paris of the Parisians, presented in a lively fashion for groups and individuals. Paris Canal also offers various boat trips on the Seine and canals, aboard boats adapted to different types of itineraries: locks, guinguettes, restaurant or picnic … even the less well-known canal Saint-Denis is programmed, on request, taking passengers as far as the Stade de France and beyond via la Défense. Also on the programme, a boat trip along the river Marne and the river Seine to learn more about the Impressionist painters. Trips last from two hours to a whole day. The slow and gentle pace of the boats is an ideal pause from an often hectic stay in Paris! Batobus is an entirely different way of seeing Paris from the water: this shuttle boat operates every day all year long up and down the river. You can do the whole loop in one go or just hop on and off using the boat as a simple means of original transport. You can buy a one-day or two-day pass. A ‘Paris à la carte’ pass makes it possible to combine a Batobus pass with an Open Tour pass to give you total freedom between the bus and boat for two or three days, totaling 58 different stops throughout Paris. The lunch and dinner cruises offered by Bateaux-Mouches® are timeless moments on board a boat with a glass roof, panoramic windows and an upper deck, combining a sit-down meal and outdoor photo opportunities with leisure. Two options are available: ‘Paris pour un oui’ (Paris for a yes), reserved for real romantics, is an exceptional evening which includes a chauffeured car, a chance to meet the captain and a special table with roses, champagne and a commemorative photograph; the open air cruise-café invites you aboard for a lunch accompanied by accordion music, with dancing and a musical atmosphere all afternoon. Lunch and dinner cruises on the Bateaux Parisiens succeed in finding the delicate balance between a high quality meal, efficient and friendly service and relaxing moments with music. With an all-inclusive package, passengers benefit from a table with a view aboard a boat with panoramic windows, with a meal chosen from our à la carte menu and cooked on board. Musicians play throughout lunch and dinner, creating a timeless Parisian ambiance, or, depending on the day, a jazzy, or ‘glamour & pop’ atmosphere. At the Marina de Paris, lunch and dinner cruises take place on board boats with panoramic views, in a cosy atmosphere. Each night there are two dinner cruise packages to choose from; one is more informal and convivial, while the other is more chic and refined. Boarding takes place in front of the Musée d’Orsay. The menu presents a wide range of dishes to choose from (including vegetarian dishes), and a romantic option is available, with champagne, a special table and a commemorative photograph. Paris en Scène welcomes passengers right in the centre of Paris, in front of Notre-Dame Cathedral, for a one hour and 15 minute dinner cruise that is like no other: the food is freshly prepared on board, while the passengers Parisnews // paris convention and visitors bureau n0. 82 // in the spotlight // JUNE 2013 2 sit in comfortable armchairs looking out onto the panoramic view and then the dishes are served at their tables. During the dinner cruise, passengers are free to go out on deck to enjoy the scenery. There are several departures each evening, convenient for visitors, in particular for those who want to spend the rest of their evening doing something else, like going to a cabaret. A brunch package, which is unique to Paris, is also available on Sundays during a two hour cruise. Downstream, near the Eiffel Tower, Capitaine Fracasse takes guests on board every evening for a convivial, gourmet dinner cruise. A menu devised by Chef Martial, ‘Meilleur Ouvrier de France’, and comfortable seating on a panoramic boat with an open deck. The two hour cruise runs from one end of Paris to the other for an unforgettable evening. You can also customize parts of the cruise to suit you: position of tables, a birthday cake, champagne or a bottle of vintage wine, a bouquet of roses, etc. Plus, if passengers haven’t finished their bottle of wine, they can take it away with them to enjoy later! Yachts de Paris offers a dinner cruise that is chic, refined and gastronomic. Developed by Guy Krenzer, twice crowned Meilleur Ouvrier de France, and accompanied by wines selected by Olivier Poussier, winner of the World’s Best Sommelier competition, the menu aboard the Don Juan II is undoubtedly one of the best on offer on the Seine. It’s in the company of an experienced sommelier, in the privatized panoramic lounge, that visitors can admire Paris from the bay window or front deck, reserved for them at nightfall. Cruises by the Compagnie Joce provide an enchanting evening on the Seine, with shows on various themes. Aboard, passengers can enjoy a gourmet or themed dinner devised by chef Stéphane Augé, Meilleur Ouvrier de France, and see or even take part in a show: ‘Paris Caraïbes’ offers a Creole dinner and Caribbean show followed by an evening of dancing. Paris Cancan, the first floating cabaret in Paris, brings back the atmosphere of 20th century cabarets. A candlelit dinner, with French Cancan of course, but also java and frous-frous dancing until midnight. ‘Paris en chanson’ is typically French and combines a traditional menu of French and international songs with lunch or dinner; the public is invited to join in the singing and dancing! But 2013 is also the year of the opening of the new Horse Museum at Chantilly. ParisNews meets Patrick Allais, Sales Manager of the Estate, who tells us about the latest news on the Chateau, the Great Stables, the museum, the park … and gives us his best gourmet addresses in Chantilly, the royal city which is so topical at the moment. How long have you worked at the Château de Chantilly for, and what is your job there? P.A.: I joined the staff at the Château de Chantilly in November 2007, 18 months after the creation of the Foundation for the Safeguard and Development of the Chantilly Estate, which includes the Château de Chantilly and its gardens, the Great Stables, and since September 2012 a brand new hotel, ‘The Auberge du Jeu de paume’. I am, with a team, in charge of national and international client groups on the leisure and business market segments. We are also responsible for managing the famous Chantilly racecourse outside the 40 annual race days, Chantilly being still first and foremost the capital of horse racing and the biggest training centre in Europe. What is happening at the moment at the Chateau? The estate is currently being much talked about on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of the birth of Le Nôtre but also because of the new horse museum. P.A.: That’s right, there is a lot happening in 2013! We are celebrating the birth of the most famous French gardener, André Le Nôtre, of which Chantilly remains one of his finest works. Our French style gardens were restored in 2009 strictly in keeping with the original ones, including the hydraulic effects which remain faithful to the original project … an exhibition is also open to visitors in the Salle du Jeu de paume with maps and other original paintings showing the gardens of Chantilly 400 years ago, including drawings of outdoor games, the ancestors of the theme parks of today! During the last Prix de Diane Longines horse race, we also inaugurated the new Horse Museum. Objects exhibited in 15 consecutive rooms address several themes: the evolution of the horse and different breeds of horse in the world, the technical development of equipment for horses, the role of the horse in relation to power, war and hunting. The sport and equestrian events, in particular racing events which have made Chantilly famous since 1834, are also represented in three spaces. Finally, a large room is devoted to the horse in art, with works by world-renowned artists such as Dürer, Rubens, Poussin, or Géricault. There is another side to the Chateau; the estate offers a vast amount of events and shows all year long. Can you tell us a little about some of these? P. A. : The Chantilly Estate offers numerous activities and events all year round for the pleasure of our visitors looking for exciting moments! Chantilly is perfect at any season. The superb dome at the Great 18th-century stables hosts renowned international classical music concerts, equestrian shows all year and in December the much-awaited Christmas show is a combination of dressage, history, superb costumes … with our team of riders, events for the public, the triathlon of the chateaux for sporty types at the end of August. Prestigious horse racing events at the racecourse include the not-to-be-missed Jockey Club and Prix de Diane Longines in June, (and even the Grand Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe in 2015!) plus of course film shoots, orienteering events, etc. There is always something happening in Chantilly! Parisnews // paris convention and visitors bureau n0. 82 // Paris seen by … // june 2013 1 Who are your visitors? Are they Parisians, people from the Paris area or rather foreign tourists sightseeing outside the French capital. P.A.: Out of a total 500,000 visitors or so per year, around 30% are adult client groups, children and company events, i.e. 350,000 individual visitors. Visitors from the Paris region are obviously the most numerous, followed by visitors from northern Picardy, the largest population groups around the Estate. Foreign visitors account for 40% of group visitors, and Russian visitors and those from Russian speaking countries are in pole position, followed by Indian, German, Brazilian, Japanese and Belgian visitors. In 2013, Chinese visitors will emphatically enter the ranks of the Top 5; visitors from South-East Asia, notably Thailand are also showing a strong increase. Our proximity to Paris and the Aéroport Paris – Charles-de-Gaulle as well as our geographical position on the motorway axis on tours of Europe (Amsterdam – Brussels – Paris) make Chantilly an essential place to discover! We take pride in welcoming first time visitors who, on visiting Chantilly, discover a concentration of Versailles and the Louvre in a single place with ideal visiting conditions! Tourists need to get out of Paris to discover the great chateaux, whether it’s Versailles, Vaux le Vicomte or the chateaux of the Loire Valley … Is there an ideal time for a visit? P.A.: Every season has its own charm … even in springtime when nature comes into its own again. Or when there is a veil of autumn mist over the moat and the Le Nôtre’s ornamental ponds, and of course the wonderful autumn colours on the foliage of the majestic trees in the grounds of the chateau all make for a great getaway! In winter, the snowy landscapes of recent years have been pure magic and then the Great Stables (heated for the equestrian show) is where it is all happening! For several years now, there has been a more concerted offer for tourists including hotels, restaurants … Does that mean that Chantilly is becoming a destination in its own right? P.A.: Yes, that’s right. The opening of our hotel ‘The Auberge du Jeu de paume’ has completed an existing offer of suberb establishments of charm and character, some with a large capacity, with first class facilities for congresses and seminars. After-work leisure events are also a big plus point: a tour of the Estate, gala evenings, incentive activities such as dragon boat and rowing competitions on the Grand Canal are a few examples. Sports teams playing at the Stade de France also like to meet up in the green setting of Chantilly. In the course of 2014, a new 4-star 200-bedroom establishment, with one of the biggest spas in Europe and a covered exhibition centre for the launch of new vehicles will open: great news for our visitors … and our visitor figures! For visitors staying in Paris, is it easy to get to Chantilly by public transport or do incoming agencies offer trips? P.A.: From Paris, the most comfortable way to get to Chantilly is by TER train from Gare du Nord, which takes 20 minutes or so for direct trains. The RER D also serves Chantilly station but makes more stops on the way. On arrival in Chantilly, our visitors can take a walk of around 15 minutes through the centre of Chantilly which is a listed town for its art and history, or take a free ‘DUC’ shuttle bus to the Chateau and the Great Stables. Incoming agencies also offer Chantilly as a destination from Paris, and from this year, a shuttle runs from Porte Maillot and the Aéroport Paris – Charles-de-Gaulle to the Chantilly Estate. What are your favourite addresses? P.A.: For gourmet fans, we have two Michelin-starred addresses with the ‘Table du Connétable’ (restaurant at the Auberge du Jeu de paume) and the Carmontelle (restaurant at the Hôtel Dolce), the restaurant at Le Château to stay in the period of Vatel and numerous restaurants in the town centre like the Histoire 2 and La Prego with reasonable prices and good food. Just as a side note, could you give us a tip on where to taste the best Chantilly cream, which undoubtedly gives a touch of charm to the destination … P.A.: Two addresses, with the same recipe to enjoy to your heart’s content: the Cuisines de Vatel at the restaurant at the Château de Chantilly and at the Restaurant du Hameau, in the idyllic setting of the Anglo-Chinese gardens with homemade gingerbread or a dish of ripe red fruit! Parisnews // paris convention and visitors bureau n0. 82 // Paris seen by … // june 2013 2 A final question regarding the French capital: if you had to choose a tourist attraction in Paris what would it be? P.A.: Paris has such a wealth of things to offer that it is difficult to choose! For something that is not a major attraction, I would choose the Musée des Arts Forains (Museum of fairground arts) in the Bercy district – the history of an art and its enthusiastic creator. > Domaine de Chantilly 7 rue du Connétable, Chantilly Tel +33 (0) 3 44 27 31 67 www.domainedechantilly.com > Shuttle buses Paris – Chantilly and Aéroport Paris – Charles-de-Gaulle – Chantilly Tel +33 (0) 1 49 46 29 00 www.keolistravelservices.com > Auberge du jeu de Paume 19th 49thrue10th du Connétable, Chantilly Tel +33 (0) 3 44 65 50 00 www.aubergedujeudepaumechantilly.fr 2nd 18th 17th 8th > 7th 15th 1st 3rd 11th Restaurant 4th 6th Hôtel Dolce12th Chantilly 5th Tel +33 (0) 3 44 58 47 57 www.dolcechantilly.fr 13th > 17th > 8th 15th 7th 3rd 4th 16th 11th 20th 7th 6th 5th 12th 15th 14th Restaurant Histoire 2 28 avenue du Maréchal Joffre, Chantilly Tel +33 (0) 3 44 21 79 68 Restaurant La Prego 7518th rue du Connétable, Chantilly Tel +33 (0) 3 44 53 25 11 19th 9th www.laprego.fr 13th 18th 17th Musée des Arts forains 2nd 3rd Pavillons de Bercy 53 avenue des Terroirs de France, Paris 12th 20th 4th 11th 6th Tel +33 (0) 1 43 40 16 15 16th 12th 5th www.arts-forains.com 15th 19th 9th 8th 10th 10th 1st 1st 14th 2nd 1st 19th 10th 9th 8th 20th Carmontelle 14th > 18th 17th 2nd 3rd 11th 7th 20th 4th 6th 5th 12th 14th 13th 13th domaine de chantilly 18th 17th 19th 8th 9th 1st 16th 2nd 3rd 4th 7th 6th 15th 10th 11th 20th 5th musée des arts forains 12th 14th 13th Parisnews // paris convention and visitors bureau n0. 82 // Paris seen by … // june 2013 3
