Bugs!
If you are a man who has sex with other
men then you need to know. Using
condoms can be easier when you don't
know the person you're having sex with.
The more you get to know people,
whether they are regulars at a sauna or a
cruising area, the less likely you might be
to use condoms. Remember that even
friends can have sexually transmitted
infections they don't know about.
Body Positive has discrete HIV-testing
and you can get the result in under ten
minutes. This can be crucial for men
who have families and partners who do
not know about their sex outside of
their relationships. Keep your self and
the people you love safe. Get an HIVtest with our specialist at Northwich
Sauna on Sundays 13:00 to 16:00 or
alternatively call the office on 01270
653150 and ask to talk to a member of
staff.
All enquiries are confidential and you
can test anonymously. Call 01270
653150 or e-mail [email protected]
to get your free test now or call in to
Northwich Sauna.

Strictly Come Dancing. The glitter, the glam, the stacatto
movements, the head swivelling...We all might have an
idea of what we think Tango is, but real Argentine Tango is
not about the sequins(though they can certainly be part of
it if wished), rather about inner connection with another
person, walking meditation, playfullness and conversation
without words. It's a complicated dance, but really it's all
about embracing another human being. It can be terribly
serious, and seriously fun.
Tango Traviesa (Naughty Tango) started last month in
Chester to offer an inclusive space for people to dance
alternative, traditional and Tango Queer. Tango Queer is
the name used for Tango that refuses to play by the rules.
It is about exchanging roles, same sex couples, access to
Tango for the LGBT community, female leaders and male
followers. It is gender-blind dancing for everyone who
wants to learn the authentic and addictive Argentine
Tango.

Hello, my name is Siân and I am proud to announce that I am the newest member of staff to
the Body Positive team. I am looking forward to establishing my role as the Project Coordinator for the Condom Distribution Scheme. The scheme provides an opportunity to
improve young people’s access to condoms throughout Cheshire - aiming to reduce the
prevalence of sexually transmitted infections and unwanted pregnancies. My background
involves working with vulnerable populations and I have always had a passion for supporting
people and improving the lives of others. When not in work, I enjoy going to watch ice
hockey, going to the gym, and spending time visiting friends and family.

Domestic abuse has been of increasing public
concern in the UK since the 1970s. However,
domestic abuse in same sex relationships is only
becoming more apparent - particularly due to
campaigns run by charities such as Broken
Rainbow - a charity offering advice and support to
LGBT victims of domestic abuse. Luckily, the
charity has had its funding extended until 2017
following fears that the service may have been at
risk.

Body Positive can also offer training to groups in regards to
healthy relationships - please visit www.bpcnw.co.uk.
Domestic abuse within same sex relationships is a problem that affects a
large number of the population. 1 in 4 of the lesbian and gay people
experience domestic abuse. As yet, there has been very little research
into the experience of bisexual or trans people.
Abuse is not often recognised - this is due to many experiencing
emotional sexual abuse rather then physical violence. Sexuality can also
be used as a tool of control. The perpetrator (the abusive person) may
threaten to out their partner, or deny them access to meet other LGBT
people therefore restricting the opportunity to develop friendships or a
support network.
Although the figure of 1 in 4 may seem high - it is likely that the true
figure exceeds this as most same sex survivors do not report to agencies.
Individuals fear discrimination on the basis of their sexual orientation
or gender identity.
Local support services are available should you feel that there are
abusive elements to your relationship. Services in the Cheshire area are
all-inclusive and support adults and young people experiencing
You can support Broken Rainbow’s new Rainbow Dot
campaign by sending them a photograph with a
Rainbow Dot on your hand.
These photographs will be used on Broken Rainbow’s
social media sites, and some will also be included in a
number of photographic exhibitions that they are
hoping to show across the UK.
If you are willing to show your support in this way by
providing a photograph, or would like to know more
about the work they do, you can contact them at:

are staff adequately trained to deal with them.
